Looks great and soft touch
Pardon the awful contrasting color scheme in my picture, but the back plate itself looks great!Installation is a matter of being extremely careful with keeping the very tiny screws of the switch organized. I used the provided plastic case as the hold for all the tiny screws and just arranged them as I was taking the backplate off to orient to where I had removed the screw. This did not come with any instructions, but I feel like it is straightforward enough to not need them. All in all, I think it took about 15-20 minutes to complete.I didn't end up using their screws provided, I opted for using the original switch screws. But it does come with all the little screws. The only thing it doesn't come with that you need to keep from the original back plate is the cartridge flap assembly and the internal kick stand pieces. It comes with the kick stand, just not the pieces to hold it too the case.It also comes with a awesome little screw driver set for small phillips and tri-wing. This is perhaps the only thing I think could be improved is that the screwdriver was not magnetic. Because those little screws are extremely small, so you have be extremely careful not to drop them. I found that holding the screwdriver vertically pointed upward and then bringing the switch to the screw was the least risky way to guide the screw to the hole. This way you are not tilting it for the screw to drop, and you are not able to drop the screw in the switch itself.One nice feature about this is that aside from looking absolutely awesome, it has a nice softness to it. Hard to explain, it's not like completely hard plastic feeling, and it's not squishy rubber feeling, it just has a very slight smooth rubber coating. It feels nice though.Ver másVer menos

Look up a tutorial if you've never opened up a switch before
I love this product. The design appeals to my sensibilities and so far it's been very durable. So here is the rundown.Pros:-Fun designs-Perfect fit for the switch-Comes with 2 sets of replacement screws-As mentioned in every other review, it feels soft.Cons:-The tools provided are liable to strip every screw that you own. Use your own. Kits of diy replacement joycon joysticks tend to have good tools. If you are going to install this case then you have the skill to replace your drifting joycon joysticks anyways so you might as well do both at the same time.-No clear instructions. Look up a chart of the screws that you need to remove before attacking your console. You need to remove the four backplate screws. All screws on the top and bottom edges of the console as well as the middle screws on the joycon rails to remove your backplate without leaving broken plastic bits stuck in your console.-There is a kickstand for table top mode with the matching design; however, you will need to use the metal clip and socket from your old backplate and kickstand because this kit does not provide those two parts.The con's look a bit long but honestly, the pro's far outweigh them; they mostly arise from the little details of installation that aren't an issue at all for for anyone that understands how things are held together. If you are like me, then you have an original model switch and the backplate has begun to crack. If you're going to replace it then you might as well get a really nice backplate while you're at it.Ver másVer menos

No brackets; perfect otherwise!
Excellent instructions, nice look. Disappointed that it did not include the retaining brackets for the card reader and kickstand; those had to be zombied from the old one. Otherwise, perfect fit, appreciated the new screws, and did just fine with the included screwdriver. Nice bonus to have for the future.Ver másVer menos

Looks good, feels good.
This shell looks and feels great. The "soft touch" is noticable and the thickness of the plastic feels sturdy. The shell swap was simple and uneventful. They provide new speaker grill material and spongy foam for the corners but I was disappointed to find that they did not provide hardware for the kickstand. While I was able to transfer the inner structure for the card flap and kickstand housing, my original kickstand went missing long ago so I wasn't able to use the provided kickstand as is. I had to spend another $10 on a replacement kickstand in order to scavenge the necessary hardware for the kickstand itself. This isn't a big deal if you have your original kickstand, but please be aware of this if you think this shell means you won't have to buy another original kickstand if yours is missing (you'll still need to buy one for the hardware).I docked it a star because I had to spend another 1/2 of the total cost to get a replacement kickstand for just the screw and bar to swap in. Update these kits to include the kickstand hardware and they will pretty much be perfect.Hopefully the finish will hold up for a long time.Ver másVer menos

It be good.
Easy enough to install, just don’t over tighten the screws or you risk stripping them. The plastic itself is good. And mine hasn’t cracked like the original back shell.

As for overall build quality and paint look to be solid: the panel feels a bit thicker than the default switch panel and picture looks high quality. The soft touch does give it a really nice premium feel. It's much softer than the default switch panel and if I could compare it to something else I have, I would say it's almost (like 80%) as soft as my Lenovo Carbon X1 5th gen.The assembly was pretty straight forward - I only had to replace the back panel - but something to remember is make sure you stick on the dust filter and foam pads (I forgot till I finished and had to take the panel back off to stick those on). Another tip is consider using a rubberband if one of the triwing screws are in very well or you strip the screw. I did not need to use any of the spare screws they are very much appreciated given how easy they are to strip or lose. The only screw hole on the case that did not seem to tighten fully - you just keep tightening forever - was the small screw that goes into the top of the switch. It does not seem it will fall out so I don't feel I am too concerned about it but letting others know about it.There are three small nit picky downsides I have:1) Either from the slight increase in thickness or the soft touch coat increases the friction docking and undocking the switch. It is by no means bad or feel it is going to make it more difficult to dock/undock but you do feel a small tad more friction in the docking/undocking action.2) There is a small imperfection on the panel I found on the hole punch where the kickstand goes. You can see it in the pictures I attached but you will see this black bump in the middle top of the panel where the stand goes. Honestly visually I am not annoyed by it but I will admit I can feel it if my finger rubs up on it.3) I never used the kickstand once on the normal panel but when I was taking the picture with the kickstand out I found it seemed with a bit more weight or force at the top the stand would pop off. Maybe the normal switch stand is just as bad but I thoughtThese three issues I am not currently too bothered by but my biggest question I still have is how long the soft touch is expected to last and if over time the panel will pickup grease/sweat spots. Thus far both look to be doing well but that is also part of the reason I got a busy image so that it would hide those issues if they happen say year down the road or something. That said since even the normal switch panel is susceptible to these two things as well so I should not be too critical since it is considered normal wear.Overall very happy of the purchase! I feel the 20-40 dollar price tag for these is worth the money; much more impressed with these compared to other options at the same price.
