Catherine Did It Again!

Catherine did it again! Everything she writes, I eat up, and I can never put her books down. With every page, I’m always trying to figure out who the villain is, and somehow Catherine manages to shock me every single time. I’m never right! But this book had my jaw hitting the floor. I was NOT expecting that twist at all.I truly loved the growth and healing we got to see from both Kol and Nova throughout this story. Kol is carrying so much guilt from the trauma of his past, while Nova is trying to find her way back to herself and some sense of normalcy after being held captive underground for a year.I felt Nova’s strength throughout every page. After everything she survived, she continued to push herself forward, even when it was difficult. She wasn’t trying to go back to the person she was before. She was learning what her new normal looked like and finding herself again along the way. I loved watching Kol become someone she could feel safe with while also working through his own pain.And Skylar is the cutest little human! I loved her personality, her style, and the way she never backs down. She is definitely a protector just like her dad. The one thing she has been missing is the love of a mom figure, even though Kol and the Archer family make sure she is surrounded by more than enough love.Watching Nova slowly find her place with Kol, Skylar, and the entire Archer family made this story even more special. Catherine gave us everything I love about her books: suspense, emotion, healing, family, romance, and a twist I absolutely did not see coming. *Into the Fading Twilight* kept me hooked from beginning to end, and once again, Catherine Cowles reminded me exactly why she is one of my favorite authors.Ver más

Single Dad Done Right

This is Nova and Kol’s story, and I personally couldn’t wait to dive into it. I adore a damaged main character and a man who would burn down the world for the people he loves. Most of all though, I love the suspense, the found family, and all the tropes woven throughout this series.The book opens with Nova and the final moments before her rescue. We get a glimpse of what she endured, but for all the details you’ll definitely want to read Across the Vanishing Sky first. Then we jump ahead four months.Understandably, Nova is dealing with PTSD after everything she’s been through. What I loved is that she isn’t written as someone who is magically “fixed.” She’s still healing. She’s also a bit of an adrenaline junkie, constantly reminding herself that even though she’s changed, she’s alive.Kol is everything I hoped he’d be. He’s protective, a single dad, and carrying plenty of his own demons. Even with everything on his shoulders, he cares so deeply for Nova. Their bond wasn’t something either of them expected, but it never feels forced. He rescued her, and now he’s still working the cases as a Forest Service investigator.I also love that Kol and his brothers spend their free time trying to repay some of the damage their father caused. Kol is the responsible one, the caregiver, and an amazing father. His daughter, Skylar, absolutely steals every scene she’s in. I already can’t wait for her book.Can we also talk about our favorite bartender and the jilted fiancée? I feel like something is brewing there, and honestly, I hope so. She deserves so much more than being a side character. And just when you think the connected cases are over, you realize maybe they aren’t as finished as everyone hoped. It’s hard to move on when every reminder brings back the nightmare.Nova and Kol are all push and pull. They tiptoe around their feelings, their chemistry, and everything growing between them. They’re both scared. Work blurs the lines, and the trauma that ties them together is also the very thing trying to pull them apart.Nova was probably my favorite part of this story. I love her strength, her sass, and her determination. Yes, she’s damaged. Yes, she has demons. But she’s taking baby steps toward getting her life back, and I loved watching that journey.Kol, on the other hand… bless him. 😂 He constantly puts his foot in his mouth. Whether it’s awkward social skills or just his overprotective nature, he definitely has his moments.This book definitely brings the steamy scenes, but what stood out to me more was how intimate it felt. It wasn’t just physical. It felt like complete trust and acceptance after everything they’d both survived.This story hits close to home because of the trauma and mental health representation. Through all the pain, the found family is what keeps everyone standing. Brae, Nova, Cora… they’re each there when it matters most. I also loved the inclusion of equine therapy. That was such a beautiful addition.Kol definitely falls first, and I loved that. The roommates-to-lovers romance happens naturally through all the little everyday moments instead of one big dramatic scene.The suspense kept me on edge almost the entire book. It pulls you through a story of healing, growth, family, and survival while still making you question who is behind everything. I wasn’t binge-reading this one because it’s emotionally heavy. With all the cases and time spent out in the wilderness, I kept hoping Yeti would make an appearance.Can we talk about those twists? They just kept coming. I absolutely did not see that ending coming.This one is definitely slower than the first book. We don’t discover who’s behind everything until the very end, but Catherine Cowles knows exactly how to build suspense. Her writing reminded me of when I used to devour romantic suspense by Patricia Cornwell, Iris Johansen, and so many other amazing authors years ago.There is so much hurt, pain, and healing packed into this story. The forced proximity isn’t just there for romance. It’s what teaches Nova and Kol how to trust again. Even after all the chaos that brought them together, they found their home with each other, on the ranch, surrounded by the family they built along the way.

Beautiful strength

Once again, Catherine Cowles delivers a stunningly strong, heartfelt, and cryptic story. Into the Fading Twilight completely drew me in from the very first page.Nova is a true masterpiece of survival. The way Catherine develops her character is incredible. Every layer of her strength, vulnerability, and resilience feels authentic and deeply emotional. Watching her journey unfold was one of the highlights of the book.Kol is the perfect match for her. He isn’t flawless, and that’s exactly why he works so well. His imperfections make him feel real, and they create a beautiful balance between him and Nova. Their relationship grows naturally throughout the story, becoming stronger and more meaningful with every chapter.What I loved most was how the romance evolved alongside the mounting tension. As Nova and Kol grew closer, the sense that something was still terribly wrong at Starlight Grove only intensified. The mystery kept me guessing and added an edge of suspense that made it impossible to put the book down.Catherine Cowles has once again created a story filled with emotion, danger, healing, and hope. Into the Fading Twilight is a captivating blend of romance and suspense that will stay with me long after the final page.Ver más

Perfection

Into the Fading Twilight by Catherine Cowles was such a beautiful, emotional, and suspenseful read. I loved Nova’s healing journey so much. Witnessing her finding herself after everything she endured and seeing her healing journey was incredibly moving.The patience, care, and gentleness Kol showed Nova absolutely melted my heart. He gave her the space and safety she needed in her darkest time. Their relationship felt deeply rooted in understanding and trust, and I loved every moment of their journey together. But the relationship between Nova and Skylar was the most special to me. There was something so special about the way they connected and how that relationship brought healing to both of them that had me sobbing. It was tender, beautiful, and incredibly meaningful.And then of course there was the suspense! The twists were absolute perfection. The tension kept me completely hooked. I was right about my theory but I was second guessing myself a lot, thinking it was too far fetched. But even having an inclination I was still shocked at being right.I also absolutely loved the found family and friendships woven throughout this story. The way Nova was surrounded by people who showed up for her, supported her, and loved her through the hard moments was so special. There’s something incredibly comforting about watching someone who has been through so much finally find a place where they truly belong.This book gave me all the emotions. Nova and Kol’s story will stay with me for a long time. I cannot wait for the next installment in the series as the epilogue had my jaw on the floor.Ver más

Another fantastic addition to the Starlight Grove series!

⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ (4.5/5) This book had everything I love about the author's books - small-town mystery, emotional healing, protective heroes, and just enough suspense to keep me saying, "Okay... just one more chapter."Kol completely stole my heart. He's patient, fiercely protective, and somehow manages to be both strong and incredibly gentle at the same time. (Reminded me of my husband!) 😍 Watching him slowly break through the walls around Nova was one of my favorite parts of the story. Their chemistry felt natural, and the slow-burn romance was exactly the pace I wanted.The mystery had me playing detective the whole book. I had several theories while reading, and I was both excited and slightly smug when one of my early guesses actually turned out to be right. 😏 The emotional moments hit hard without feeling overly dramatic, and the found-family vibes made my heart ridiculously happy. Skylar was definitely a highlight!The only reason this wasn't a full five stars is that I ended up predicting the plot twist, and I wanted just a bit more development toward the final reveal. It wrapped up well, but I was left wanting a tiny bit more. 🤏🎧 The multicast narration was absolute perfection! THIS is how an audiobook should be! 🤌 Every narrator brought so much life and emotion to the characters that it felt like I was listening to a full production instead of just a book. It made an already amazing story even more immersive, and I genuinely didn't want to hit pause.Overall, this was another fantastic addition to the Starlight Grove series. If you're looking for romantic suspense with lovable characters, a cozy small-town atmosphere, emotional depth, and a mystery that keeps the pages turning, this one absolutely delivers!Ver más

Have Tissues Close, You Are Going to Need Them!

INTO THE FADING TWILIGHT, forever and more, is what this tale delivers. The emotions, drama, and mystery combine to make this a story you won’t soon forget. Our hearts broke in the last book over Nova’s horrendous captivity, and we cheered for Kol’s determination to find her. Now we get the greatest gift in watching Nova fight to discover her new self and Kol learn to move beyond his past, as they both build on the bond that began in the forest at twilight. This rollercoaster of feelings will have you laughing not only at Skylar’s and Owen’s antics but even at Kol’s bossiness, because it’s so Kol, and, of course, at the Archer brothers’ banter. There will also be plenty of tears, and the best part is that many will be happy. You’ll love how, from the start, Nova feels free and comfortable pushing back when Kol gets too protective. Her inner strength is an amazing trait, considering all she’s been through. It’s easy to believe their connection was so immediate because it feels so real. I guarantee the added elements of danger, intrigue, and mystery will keep you trying to figure out who’s behind this new threat. It’s a puzzle you most likely won’t be able to solve until all the pieces are finally revealed in this well-crafted story. It will definitely capture your heart and mind, keeping you thoroughly engaged from the start. By the end, there is heartache for one of the brothers and quite a surprising twist for another, but that only leaves you eager to read what’s coming for the rest of the Archer clan.
