AOSU SolarCam D1 SE is hands down one of the Best

I ordered this 360 PTZ solar camera and let me tell you it is one of the best in the market. I am very happy with my purchase.I received the package and unpacked the contents and boy the items are just fantastic. Camera is well built and study. It comes with a charging wire to pre-charge before installing so the battery is 100% so the solar panel doesn’t have to play catch up. So charge the camera before hand. While the camera was charging I went ahead and turned it on and installed the device to the AOSU app which is fairly easy after registering an account. I link the camera and now I could see the battery percentage while it charged.I played with the pan, tilt and zoom while it was charging and the picture quality is amazing. The connection is very strong at 100% on 2.4G wifi. It also helps that I connected the camera to the mesh wifi box that will be closest to the camera once it’s mounted. Be sure to install a micro sd card in order to record the events. I installed a 32G which is plenty of space. Especially since the camera will loop the recording and overwrite older material. After installing the camera at its location the wifi connection is still at 90% and this is in the alley which is a good 50feet from the closest mesh wifi.I’m impressed with connectivity of these cameras.The mounting was very easy, three screws for the camera mounting bracket and three screws for the solar panel mount. The package included two stickers to guide the pilot holes to drill to make the mounting easy. Once the mounts were secured then the camera just snaps onto the mount and solar panel threads onto its mount .very easy, just make sure to have solar panel be able to absorb the most sunlight throughout the daytime.Once the camera was mounted I tested the quality of the camera’s performance and it has a very clear picture. Pan, tilt, and zoom are excellent on this camera. I tested the motion detection and it would follow my every move. The night vision is awesome you’re able to choose black & white or color night vision and both are outstanding.Overall the value for the money is great and the AOSU Solar Cam D1 SE is one of the best in the market hands down. I will keep purchasing AOSU products as they are just fantastic at a great price!Ver más

Great value and customer service!

I purchased these cameras last year. I’ve had great success with both until a week before my warranty ran out and one of the cameras picture went blurry. I contacted the company and they immediately sent me out a replacement. I’m very pleased with this model. The picture quality is great and has many useful features. I’m notified when I’m away from home if there is any activity. A great peace of mind. I recommend this company and their customer service.Ver más

Great Camera - excellent customer service.

I ordered these a year ago and they have been wonderful. These are a great value, easy to setup and free to use. Installing a SD card is highly recommended then all your events are captures and free to access. The 5MP resolution is terrific. Everything is very clear even at night. The solar panel keeps them fully charged no matter how much use they get. I am glad I purchased the version that has a separate solar panel in order to capture sunlight when the sun is behind the camera. I have one camera in the back yard which is triggered rather infrequently but the one out front frequently triggers in order to capture vehicles as well as various deliveries. It follows them very well. I also check in fairly frequently and the app is very easy to use and offers many features and settings. You can adjust sensitivity, battery management, color night vision, notification, etc. It also links to Alexa and google. There is a panoramic view scan that allow you to instantly view any viewing location that is very useful. Also the light is exceptionally bright and when we arrive home at night it actually follows us while illuminating our walk as we enter the house which is an unexpected advantage. I reached out to customer service via email and I must say that Ann is exceptional. She answered my questions immediately and followed up to make sure I solved the question.Ver más

Hit or miss

These are the latest model and maybe there's some software programming to take into consideration with these vs. the previous model. I ordered the two pack - don't do that when they offer a single pack X 2, as you may get one that has issues and then you have to risk sending both back, even if one is great.The seller / manufacturer were quite helpful overall in addressing some concerns I had. These newer models have more bells and whistles like setting up a colored zone within the camera's field of view to reduce triggers. It mostly works.They have an automated voice you can adjust on the phone app, turning the volume down or off, along with the advertised human form tracking and nighttime spot light that turns on after dark. The voice is interesting I guess, "You have entered a high security zone..." or something like that. Male voice only.I notice that if a thief were to walk close to the walls of the house and beneath the cameras that these tend to lose their target and then return to the default position. Otherwise they spin all the way around as described in the listing, following their target.As for the issues... One of them seemed to have a dysfunction in distance detecting despite being set on 'far'. It's currently been relocated to my back patio where it can't fail to detect motion at a shorter distance. For a while it wasn't even sending push notifications to my phone to alert me of activity.Non specific to the one camera, these seem to be programmed to pick up and review possible intruders and then they start recording if they determine someone doesn't belong, i.e. they have entered the zone. So they may not seem to be working if trying to test them out - as I spent a lot of time doing this, only for them to actually be working afterall, you just can't tell. No tracking changes, no push notifications nothing. I guess they have AI onboard to determine whether to activate even though the camera is looking at the scene.They also have a very wide lens view even without rotating so when testing for movement detection and human tracking, having the camera placed along the side of the house for example didn't cause it to move at all because 'it didn't need to'.Inside the phone app that directly ties into the camera setup there's a carryover feature for capturing the panorama of the camera's range and to this day I don't know what it was intended to accomplish?I did find that the camera didn't operate correctly when setting up this panorama and then within the still image you can point the camera to a spot which becomes it's starting point prior to tracking motion, at least in the outgoing model. On the new model it seem to create a software conflict causing the camera not to detect anything. The solution was to simply delete the panorama and leave it empty or blank.On this newer model there is an additional setting in the menus where you can take a picture with the camera and that can be chosen as the default for it to return to after tracking. It also has a zone feature in that section.All in all I do like this brand and their cameras, especially how they can auto track / rotate to follow the intruder. They do come with a lower resolution setting and I can't tell if running at lower resolution is literally affecting the onboard recording to the SD card, or just how well it plays across my wifi router to my phone? I just leave it on the HD settings. You can also capture decent colored video at night, as mentioned in the description.One of the main reasons I went with this camera is that it does default to local storage on an SD card which means that if some saavy thief buys a wifi jammer, that it 'most likely' won't keep the camera from working and recording them. The only difference is that no push alert or live capture would be possible from the phone app.Installation is a bit trickier on this model as you have more flexibility but also a second mount to place for the solar panel. On the outgoing model it's an all in one and far quicker to setup. It is nice that the company supplies a sticker with the mounting holes to help with install. I will add here that the screws are the cheapest metal I've ever seen as the heads mushroom after installing them. Also, becareful not to overtighten as I managed to crack one of the plastic mounts when tightening the screw down.Due to my questioning the newer model I looked into returning, despite its updated features I opted to purchase two more cameras, but went with the previous models that were easier to install - no cabling concern either between panel and camera. That, and not wanting to chance another camera not seeming to work right.On the older model which also has the panorama feature that seemed buggy on this model, I also didn't see a need to use it as the camera despite not having a 'default' setting simply returns automatically to the last position it was in prior to detecting motion. This position can be manually adjusted inside the phone app using a panning mode. So again, not even sure what the panorama feature is good for? It seemed to be a legacy carryover to the latest model despite causing some kind of non detection glitch.I've had them up and covering all of the windows where someone might try to force their way in, and one on the corner of the garage that looks down on the car and anyone entering the driveway. I would recommend these as they are doing great after a month so far. Not having used it much, but the phone app also has a feature to display up to 4 cameras simultaneously, if that's of interest. Coupled with these cameras I had also installed the Ring doorbell, as sold locally - resulting in a bit more coverage when approaching the front door.Additionally, apart from installing PVC poles in windows and the sliding glass door, I found that Amazon sells a nifty latch mechanism that is screwed into the door jam and overlaps the edge of the door, when closed. I mounted it below the deadbolt as videos suggested this was the kick point. Very easy to install. There are several brands to choose from. I also replaced the very short door jam screws on the door hinges opting for the recommended 3" long screws to bolster that side of the door.Additional advice here - tie up the lead for the garage door opener around its assembly so a thief cannot grab it from outside the closed door.

Doesn't always work

Is such a shame these didn't work better because I really liked a lot about them. Nice quality, loved the app & the access to everything from my phone, wifi connectivity was great, easy installation & set up, sound quality was great, love that you could speak through it (and disguise your voice if you wanted), solar panel seemed to work well which was great to not have to worry about battery replacement, night vision was great as well as the video quality!Ultimately returned to get something else because of the following:1- they don't always work detecting movement (ex. had a delivery pull up, walk all the way to my front door & back to the vehicle & the camera never even detected anyone & didnt notify me! It wouldn't even detect my dog when it was walking right in front of it but would go off with the wind blowing)2 - we were either getting notifications every 2 seconds because the wind blew the african grass that was right under the back camera (yes even raised the default angle but it constantly wanted to record the movement of the grass & notify me of said movement detected) or the plants/decor on the front porch or we wouldn't get notified at all if we turned the sensitivity settings down (tried just about every setting & there was no happy medium - was either too sensitive or not sensitive enough - even tried different angles but didnt change things)3 - no control over the light settings at night so when we'd sit on the porch in the evenings, if you didn't want the light blinding you because it detected movement & turned on & followed you, you had to turn the cameras off all together then remember to turn them back on when you went back inside (such a pain in butt).Was really hopeful that once the cameras were mounted & set up & got used to the "normal" movements around our house (wind, etc.) that they would end up working out great but as they kept not detecting cars in the driveway, people coming up to my front door or my dog in the yard, I mean what's the point of having a security camera lol? Very bummed I had to return them!Ver más

Love this product!

The cameras are awesome, easy to install, the solar panel provided keeps them charged fully, they connect to wifi, no subscription needed, and I can share with the family through the app. Perfect for our needs, I really like how simple these are. The motion tracking works well! Will only buy this brand moving forward.Ver más
