What's not to love about Intuit Turbo Tax Premier?
I've been using Turbo Tax Premier for years because I have Stock Market Investments and it handles all the worksheet and schedules. I've never had a problem with Turbo Tax and will probably continue to use it until I'm no longer on this planet! Good value compared to other software and easy to use. I've never had a return audited with Turbo Tax. You'll be glad you chose a software that is easy and intuitive to use. 73 de KE8GKO!Ver másVer menos

Why go anywhere else? It works every year.
I guess I'm locked in to the eco-system in a way because I've used TurboTax for many, many years. While there are little things I would like to see done differently, in the end it turns what would be a two or three day exercise into a few hours.The automatic import feature is excellent. And I like the way it finds your last-year tax return to import a lot of the information you need. Speeds up your tax preparation. I haven't yet done my 2025 taxes but expect the same process as 2024. Only a couple of things to watch out for - if you have a joint return and download automatically from your brokerage house, it will (at least in prior years) show you links to two copies of some joint accounts. Make sure you don't allow the import of a second copy on any account because it will make your taxes skyrocket!In addition, if you hold bonds in your brokerage account, you can deduct accrued interest paid at purchase, and you can also amortize any premium you paid over face value for the bond. I have always had to manually enter one of those two figures for some reason. It's in my download, so I don't understand why it doesn't appear automatically. Don't miss it, as this can be a significant reduction of taxable income.All in all this is a fine way to do taxes. I admit I have not tried other software, so there may be features or issues that I'm not aware of in them, but I am firmly committed to TurboTax as long as they continue to do the job well.One thing I have repeatedly noticed - just a minor irritant - is the number of program updates you have to install each time you open the program. Seems like a dozen or more updates throughout tax season, and it takes 4 to 5 minutes to complete the update regimen every time you open the program. There should be a way to download updates automatically when you are not in the program, so all you have to do is install them when you log on. Most Apple system updates allow this. Of course you might ask why after so many years do they have so many mid-season updates - that's a legitimate question, and a minor irritant, but the end product is still worth keeping TurboTax as the way to do taxes.Ver másVer menos

THIS PRODUCT IS DEFECTIVE, PERIOD - Requesting Refund
Just to be clear: I’ve used TurboTax (TT) for years and have gotten used to its idiosyncrasies and quirks. You just learn to work around them. TT always got the job done and I got comfortable with the results. When I saw that TT 2025 required Windows 11, there was no question that I would get a new Windows 11 PC for no other reason than to allow me to continue to use TT.Purchased TT 2025 Premier on Amazon, downloaded it to my Win 11 PC and installed it with zero problems. Launched it so I could get started on doing my tax return. Up pops a screen saying “You’re not connected to the Internet.” And further: “To activate your purchase, you’ll need to connect to the Internet. Check to make sure that: Your Internet connection is working properly. Your security setup, such as your firewall and antivirus programs, allows TurboTax to connect to the Internet.”Well, yes it is connected to the Internet! Duh. I just downloaded TT to my PC using my Internet connection. All other applications that use the Internet are functioning properly.So, at this point I start looking for suggestions and help. I find and perform the following supposedly “sure-fire” fixes:UPDATE WINDOWS, LOG IN TO INTUIT, LAUNCH DOWNLOAD OF TT FROM INTUIT, TURN OFF ANTI-VIRUS, TURN OFF WINDOWS DEFENDER, TURN OFF FIREWALL, UNINSTALL TURBOTAX, REINSTALL AS ADMINISTRATOR, RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR, RE-START WINDOWS IN SAFE MODE, VERIFY INTERNET CONNECTION, ADD INTUIT TO “TRUSTED SITES”, SET SECURITY LEVEL TO MEDIUM, NETWORK RESET, MODEM RESET, ROUTER RESET, DISABLE VPN, RESET VIRTUAL SWITCHES, MAKE EXCEPTION FOR TURBO TAX IN PROXY SETTINGS, etc., etc.Nothing fixes the problem. TT still fails to see my Internet connection. And I see feedback from other users and verify that when you phone TurboTax support and describe the problem, you are put on indefinite hold and/or your call is disconnected.No problem. Amazon always stands behind the product and services that it sells, right? Wrong: Amazon says: “This product is non-returnable and non-refundable.”Purchased, downloaded and used H&R Block 2025 tax software using Windows 10 and easily completed my tax return and filed with NO problems. Works, with glitches. (Windows download, Premier version)
I was in panic mode for a while when I loaded it to open a partially-done return and it told me it had a problem and I should revisit the form I had been working on, but then it kept giving the same error message no matter what form I tried to go to (sorry, I don't recall the exact wording). I think the sequence that triggered it was something like: save and update while partway thru a 1099-div, run it again, update, open the return, get the message. Eventually I tried double-clicking on the return file to run the program indirectly and that worked! Moral of the story -- finish each form before you exit (???).There were some minor interface irritations his year:1: It is too determined to have you import data from your bank or brokerage, which I prefer not to do, partly for security reasons. So, when I click on a 1099-div (imported from last year's return) during instead of taking me to that form it takes me to their import-from screen and I have to click the box to input manually; then it takes me to a screen where I have to select between interest, dividends, capital gains, etc; so I have to click "dividends" to get where I want. Three click to do the job of one. It would be nice if it remembered that I started the process by asking to do that 1099-div instead of making me repeat myself. It would be nicer if I could tell it once and for all that I don't want to import anything from the financial institutions.2: In the step-by-step process the box that looks like it would let you enter capital gains just takes you to the same import-from-institution form above, so you choose manual, then gains instead of interest or dividends.3: There's a time-waster in the capital gains routine. It asks you how many 1099-B you have and if you say 4 or more it suggests a simpler way to input by type totals instead if entering each one. That process is quick and easy until you get to the end and it tells you you'll have to SNAIL-MAIL the forms to the IRS. I deleted the stuff I had just input, entered my 4 items the old-fashioned way and I won't need to mail anything.4: They keep trying too hard to up-sell me. And they've been studying dark patterns from Amazon.FWIW, I have used TT Premier for years but this year I originally planned to use the cheaper brand-H because TT requires Windows 11. But "H" had too many bugs and turned out to be a waste of money (see my review if you care). FWIW, both TT & "H" seem to have price changes and it turned out that (for me at least) TT on a cheap day was no more expensive than what I paid for "H". So start checking prices early.TT worked. My returns have been accepted, and my Federal tax is lower than what "H" had before I abandoned it.

Good program to do your own taxes
What can I say I use Turbo Tax every year to do my taxes. Not a fan of the download but that seems to be the way of the world these days and no CDs sent to you anymore. Downloading was a bit fiddy at first and I was able to figure it out, download the program and begin preparing my taxes. The program allows you to do several returns so I was able to do my kids returns as well. The price seems consistent every year about the same price. So far I have not had issues with the program.Ver másVer menos

My Go-To Tax Preparation Software
I have used TurboTax premier software for years. More years than I can remember. I had no problem with the download, setup, and activation with the product code. It was easy. As far as the software is concerned, I like the way it leads me through the process.
