The best do it yourself tax software.
Great competitive price with Costco. This is my favorite tax software for the basic individual who wants to complete their own taxes and lives in a state with no income tax to be filed, like Florida. If you need to file a state tax in addition to Federal, buy the FEDERAL plus STATE. It includes up to 5 free Federal e-filings which allows me to do my whole families taxes. It takes you step by step, you do need a basic understanding of taxes. I recommend following what was done the prior year so you do not forget to include any steps. When finished, print out and compare numbers to double check you didnt forget something. It's not fool proof, if you forget to input tax information your return will be incorrect, that is user error not software error. I love that Turbo Tax has an extensive network of tax professionals and customers that help you find answers to your questions very quickly. It's the only software I will use, I do not like HR Block and have found errors with their software.....its not as user friendly as Turbo Tax! Even if your taxes are simple, I recommend the Turbo Tax DELUXE over any basic software. If your taxes are a little more complicated, read the back of the box there are other versions to assist with more complicated steps and well worth the money and cheaper than an accountant.Ver másVer menos

The most reliable and stress-free way I’ve ever filed my federal taxes
I have been a loyal user of TurboTax, and TurboTax Desktop Deluxe 2025 is another example of why TurboTax is one of the leaders in tax software. Whether you are a homeowner, a charitable contributor, have medical bills to deduct, or simply want to ensure your federal return is in top working order, it is well worth it.Dynamic, guided, surprisingly easy: Right from the point you begin the program, TurboTax takes you through the entire process step by step. It does not even remind you of filing a tax return but of having someone experienced in tax returns ask you all the simple questions while performing all the complicated calculations in the background. Even in the case of some complicated tax returns involving things like mortgage interest, charitable contributions, or medical expenses, the program explains all of it in the simplest possible manner.Maximizes Deductions and Refunds: One of the most valuable aspects of this software is how aggressive (but correctly) it looks for deductions and credits (over 375 of them). It has flagged deductions that I truly could have missed on my own, especially in the realm of charitable contributions and home expenses. It is always on the prowl for your input and lets you know if it seems strange or if there is a possibility of a deduction that you have yet to consider. That alone is priceless.Audit Risk Meter = peace of mind: This is a very underrated tool. This tool lets you know just how likely your return is to raise some red flags and will give you an idea of where you might consider checking some information twice. Right before you click “file,” TurboTax will perform thousands of checks for inaccuracies and missing data.Easy imports save tons of time: The import of W-2s, mortgage interest, and investment information directly from cooperating businesses is a huge plus when it comes to saving time. I also enjoyed how I could import last year’s tax returns directly, which made the entire process much faster and easier. If you are a TurboTax taxpayer, it will take minutes to get started.Desktop applications = Complete control over your data: As someone who prefers to use the desktop version as opposed to filing through my browser, I am happy to report that this software does not disappoint. This means that your tax information is contained within your computer, ensuring complete control and accessibility whenever you need it. This, to me, is more secure and organized, especially if you're someone who prefers to store digital files from year to year.Live Expert Support When You Need It: Even though the software is very comprehensive, it is helpful to know that expert and current tax information is at my disposal if I need it. It is optional and comes with a fee associated with it, so it is reassuring to have this crutch for tough questions.Excellent for families or multiple filers: That 5 e-files for federal use is a huge bonus. For you personally filing for your relatives, this one aspect is worth the cost. You should keep in mind that you'll have to file for the state separately.I would recommend this software to anyone looking for a dependable, complete, and easy to use solution to filing their federal income taxes, especially when it comes to homeowners and deductions. Ok...so long story short (zero stars...one because Amazon is ridiculous about star ratings): You could not pay me to purchase this product or any Intuit product going forward. I can safely assure you based on this year's and last year's experience that a) you will not be satisfied, and b) you will spend more time trying to fix the issue than it's worth to say nothing about getting your taxes filed....and now for the rest of the story.I have been a loyal TurboTax user for years (at least ten looking at the CDs/DVDs in my drawer). I purchased the software for this tax year and attempted installation. The software installed without any issues, but when it came time for the software to be activated it continuously stated that the computer was not connected to the Internet. I did some basic troubleshooting (Windows: find the current TurboTax.exe process ID, NETSTAT -O and find the process ID). Low and behold the TurboTax software was indeed connected to the Internet; it had ESTABLISHED connections to something in the Amazon EC2 cloud.I contacted TurboTax support. The automated phone attendant said that the software is not compatible with Windows 10 and asked if I wanted to be texted or emailed that information. I said no to both (I already know that it needs Windows 11...I can read after all). The auto-attendant then said thank you and hung up without any other recourse. I finally was able to get in contact with support after going through the website and setting up a callback session. The first representative I spoke with (this past Sunday) said that "they have been having problems with the activation servers and to wait 24 hours. A representative would call in 24 hours to see if there are further issues." When I got off of the phone I received an email that my support case had been closed. No phone call was received the following day. I tried at 24 hours, 36 hours, and 48 hours later. I still could not activate the software. I did some further digging on the Internet for solutions. Unfortunately most of the results I found on the Intuit community site were not helpful (i.e. lots of flaming the product which seeing how this turned out I cannot completely fault).I called support again. This time I spoke with Jessica. This call lasted two hours so I did give props that she was not going to just push it off to "you have to just wait again,"; she actually made an honest effort. I found a website on Intuit where I could enter my product code to activate my product. The thought I had was that if I activated the product through the website then I could then launch the product and it would see when it reached out to their rented servers that the product had already been activated. The Intuit site kept telling me that my product key was invalid.Jessica said that I should contact Amazon for a refund. We set up a screen sharing session and I showed her where the Amazon website clearly states that the product is non-refundable and not returnable. Since was screen sharing with my computer that is further proof that the computer is in fact connected to the Internet contrary to what the TurboTax software is reporting. I showed her the Intuit website that was rejecting the code. I showed her my proof of purchase with Amazon. Eventually after she contacted her team and did her own research she sent me to a page to request a refund through Intuit. The catch is that it is at their discretion; this refund still may not happen.The next course of action was to refund my purchase with Amazon and then re-purchase the product directly from Intuit's website. I said to her that I used to purchase directly from Intuit, but about three or four years ago they made it so difficult to purchase the product that I decided to purchase from Wal-mart and/or Amazon (whichever one had it in stock and cheapest). Her explanation was that since the product was not purchased directly from the website their server could not validate the code. I said that this clearly is an Intuit issue. It is not Amazon's fault that the code is bad; they are (presumably) selling codes that they got from Intuit; they would likely have no way of validating the codes as it is not their product.I had Jessica send me a URL to purchase the software from Intuit which she did. The price of the product was more than twice what I paid on Amazon ($80). Additionally, the version that is on there includes a state-income tax component which I do not need (Florida). I said that it does not make any sense for me to spend the extra money for the component I did not need. She apologized and said that is all that is offered on the website. I thanked her for her time and respectfully ended the call as there was no more help to be had from the transaction.I discussed the issue with my family and the decision was made to go ahead and purchase from the Intuit website (last year I am doing this). I attempted the purchase multiple times across two days. I tried multiple credit cards and apparently their eCommerce website does not accept any credit card.I am now reviewing other options. Good luck out there.

Easy to download and get system to setup
Download was easy. However, now they provide assistance with software or questions for a price.

Still great but starting to get pushy with ads
I’ve been using TurboTax as long as I’ve been doing my taxes and the software itself is still solid.Check the requirements and make sure that your Mac or PC supports it before purchase. Install is a breeze and as with many apps that try to combat piracy. You have to connect to the web to authenticate which is common.My only issue is with each yearly release they are pushing more and more to try to get you to buy addons and such. This is paid software. We should not be presented with so many annoying messages. There is why they lost a star from me.In terms of taxes and accuracy. I never had an issue.
