Tiny, yet mighty
I have been dying to try this product, and to be honest, I have heard and read mixed reviews on it from both strangers online and family members. Sometimes you can only make an educated opinion when you try the product out yourself. My entire house uses some form of streaming network device or is a smart TV. I currently have a veryyyy old Roku, first & second-gen Apple TV streaming boxes, first-gen Chromecast w/ HDMI plug that apparently no longer receives updates as of 2023, and all of those devices are so old that updates for them are no longer and I am very limited on what streaming channels I can utilize unless I have a smart TV. They also completely freeze and I can never get through one episode of anything. My bedroom is the only room that does not have a smart TV and I need to catch up with technology. The Amazon 4k Fire Stick was on sale for a decent price too - SOLD.I LOVE THIS THING! I don't use too many streaming networks and certainly will never pay for cable again (which you honestly don't need to because the Fire Stick comes with Live TV which is awesome for my dog since he likes background noises while we're at work). Live TV will stay on all day, however, if you put on a streaming channel, they do not play all day long and end up turning off (even if you set your screensaver on the Fire Stick and the TV to "never", so the Live TV feature was a huge plus for me. This little stick does wonders.I can download/add to my main screen whatever streaming network I want and it's up to date with some of the newest streaming networks (for instance, my Roku and Apple do not know what Pluto TV or Fubo is), I can change the appearance of the main screen so it puts my most-watched networks in the front of the line, and it's connected to my Amazon account so purchasing is made easier. The picture quality is great, it's AI-powered but I don't use that feature at all since I stopped using my Alexas (they were talking to me too much) so I cannot share how well that feature works; I'm sure its awesome. It's small and compact; just plug the stick in your TV and if you have an awkward-positioned HDMI, it does provide you with a cable cord to extend the length. Even if it's plugged into the back of the TV, the remote signal will still reach. You get 2 AAA batteries included as well. For the WiFi: It says it connects to WiFi-6, however, my apartments are wired for AT&T, which uses a fiber installation. The Arris modem I currently have, and of course the fiber optic wired network, is strictly WiFi-5. So, although this Fire Stick says WiFi-6, it does not disturb my viewing of anything, the connection is still there and I never lose any signal, and I have a ton of devices on my network; I just can't tell if the quality is better or not since I don't have WiFi-6. My modem and plan is the best one so bandwidth isn't really a problem. Also, connecting your streaming networks was a breeze; you can either enter the log-in manually or a QR Code will appear and you go from there. Total set up time with all my streaming channels was probably 20-30 minutes, if that. Nonetheless, I hope to purchase another one in the event it's on sale because it really is a great product and they are updating technology by the year. Time to get rid of the other bulky devices.Ver másVer menos
