What the Russians are up to now
I have read them all, starting when Gabriel Allon and I were both quite a bit younger, and this one is in my top three. Not only is it a ripping read, its very real depiction of Russian intentions and operations scares the daylights out me. Thank you Daniel Silva for delivering a truthy cautionary tale wrapped in first-rate entertainment. Because of the vast and intelligent audience for this series, I consider "Ransom" to be an influential book.Ver másVer menos

Daniel Silva's "Ransom" is another really interesting read!
Even if you're not familiar with Gabriel Allon, the famous art restorer and previous spy, you should enjoy this story. The author's characters are wonderful and the plot is so interesting and in this case relevant, I think. Daniel Silva is one great writer!

Dryly witty, very enjoyable.
Written with panache, and incorporating a goodly amount of dry wit, “Ransom” is Daniel Silva’s 26th offering starring master-spy and premier art conservator, Gabriel Allon. What begins as a high-society kidnapping-for-profit mushrooms into a tale of espionage and skullduggery having international political ramifications. There’s lots of globetrotting (including to England, Portugal, Greece, Austria, and Denmark), and there are twists and turns to the plot. While some of those may not have been as surprising as the author may have hoped, nevertheless, I found “Ransom” to be an enjoyable addition to the Allon series.Ver másVer menos

One of the best in a great series
Even the best hitters don't hit a home run every at bat. But Daniel Silva hit it out of the park this time. Having read the entire Gabriel Allon series I feel comfortable saying this is one of the best. It provides an enjoyable read from the very beginning. When you think the plot is going to be predictable it turns out it's not. The new characters are well drawn and multi-dimensional. The book is populated as well by our "old friends" from the London art scene and British Intelligence. The plot moved along at an enjoyable and steady pace, building in suspense as it approached the conclusion. This book checked every box for those who like action thrillers. International intrigue...
One of his best. Suspense, intrigue and expertise. Oh, and the irrepressible Gabriel Allon and his family. Great escape....

Fast paced and classic Daniel Silva
As always a unique mystery involving intrigue, kidnapping, Russian spies and a touch of real time politics. If you love Gabriel Allon, Chiara, and some of the old crew you will enjoy this new adventure.
