Dolly Brick is a fixer and the go-to girl in her family -- to a fault. Stewart Whitfield is much the same; he's Atlas, holding the weight of his family's empire on his shoulders -- unduly. They're an unlikely pair, but sheer perfection in the midst of imperfect families and situations. This is not your typical fake-dating tale. I. Adore. Their. Story.I've read all of this author's books; they're perfect summer reads. Her first was my favorite, but not after experiencing Dolly. Everything here fell into place for me -- likeable characters (even when they're behaving badly), dysfunctional families (there's no such thing as a functional one), Newport (one of my favorite places), a swoony romance with a lovely arc (Stewart is better than Prince Charming), realistic banter (so many authors take it way too far). Monaghan is not only a great storyteller, she's a fabulous writer who can make you feel every word. I smiled and teared-up at the same time. Delightfully Penned!
It was only supposed to be for the summer, a few weeks to help fix up her family home and get her dad and brother squared away, and make sure they didn't lose the house. Then he happens...Dolly All the Time is a delightfully penned story of taking chances, healing, happiness, and finding love. As we meet our heroine we quickly learn that she has become the fixer of all things for her family. Her father and brother need help fixing up the family home after a fire and it's Dolly who takes charge, knowing if it's left up to them it won't get done. Spending her summer in Whitfield isn't a hardship of course, it's something she does every summer, but this time they'll be there a little longer than usual. Which means the life that waits for her in the city will just have to be paused and all the plans she has for the summer will just go by the wayside, as usual. She gives so much of herself to those around her that somewhere along the way she began neglecting herself and her own needs... but that is about to change!She never expected to meet a man like Stewart, and the deal they make sounds like the perfect remedy to all her problems. But, what she doesn't expect is for him to sneak past all her walls and make her feel things she thought were over for her this late in life. It's a life she's dreamed of having, but never thought she would... and now it's standing in front of her asking her to take a chance, will she take it?This was my first read by this author and I have to say I was quite pleased with what I found waiting between the pages for me, it was the perfect afternoon escape. Following Dolly on her journey was good for the heart and soul, she had me smiling and laughing more than a few times! Highly recommend!Ver másVer menos

An emotionally satisfying book about two people who are perfect for one another
Any story by Annabel Monaghan is a must read for me. DOLLY ALL THE TIME has everything I love about her writing. Witty dialogue, a strong female character, a quiet love story that develops naturally and without and ridiculous plot clichés.This is a fake dating, later in life romance between two people who are absolutely perfect together.Dolly Brick, single mom, never married, comes back to her hometown for the summer to help her father with his business after a fire at her childhood home. If Dolly were a man she’d be called a factotum – someone who can do everything from plastering to changing a tire, to installing drywall, to managing a business. She is wired for leadership.Stewert Whitfield, scion to the Whitfield family real estate business, is her polar opposite. He does business stuff. That’s all. He can’t even change a blown tire, which is how these two meet on one of the worst days of his life. His fiancée has been seen canoodling with another man and now Stewert feels his family will not be able to trust his judgement with running the family business and will choose his horrible cousin Grant to run it instead. Grant is everything Stewert is not, most of all, married.Fiance-less he offers Dolly a proposition: Pretend to be his girlfriend and he’ll make it worth her while, financially.This deal can’t come at a more opportune time for Dolly because the roof on her family home needs to be replaced. A bargain is struck, and the two begin a fake dating relationship.Of course, this turns out to be more than either of them expected, and through the lovely telling of their fall into love, Monaghan gives us insight into how two opposites can make a whole.I adored this book and just know it’s going to be another bestseller for this talented author.5 stars - wish I could rate it more!Ver másVer menos

Audio is amazing
𝗣𝗟𝗢𝗧Dolly has always put everyone else first. When she returns home to help her family, a fake relationship with Stewart Whitfield offers a solution to both of their problems. But the more time they spend together, the harder it becomes to pretend their feelings aren’t real.𝗠𝗬 𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗦This is my favorite book by this author, and I absolutely loved it. I really liked that the characters are older and their struggles felt authentic rather than over-the-top. The story flows well, and I was hooked from beginning to end. As of right now, this is my top summer read!🎧 Julia Whelan did a fabulous job, but that's no surprise. Her narration is top-notch, and she always brings every story to life.Ver másVer menos

A competent leading lady is a thing of beauty
I am a big fan of Nora goes off Script. I loved that the rom com tropes were handled in such a deep and believable manner that they transcended to plot points justified by character.So when I started to fall for the love story here I surrendered, trusting I was in good hands. However, the circumstances of the traditional third act breakup really offended me. It may be just my personal life story, but I am still not sure someone who committed that level of offense deserves a get out of jail free card. Perhaps my reaction was all the stronger because the love story beforehand was both delicious and redemptive for both participants. And I remain offended by some of the male members of the male protagonists family, who get rewarded for their bad behavior.On the bright side this is a very engrossing and enjoyable rendering of the act of falling in love. Involving two full adults who have never experienced this before. And many bonus points for the authors strong leading ladies who are competent as can be, with or without a man.So, still a fan, in spite of the third act and the male members of leading man’s family.Ver másVer menos

Dolly is a boss!💪💪
4.5-5 for GR and Amazon.Such a great summer read. I love Annabel Monaghans writing and her mature characters.Since Dolly’s mom left when she was 12 she took on the role of mother and fixer. She goes back home at 39 to help her father and disabled brother. Enter Stewart, from the local rich family, with a flat tire that Dolly saves the day by changing his tire. Stewart tries to live up to what he perceives as his family’s expectations/legacy and offers Dolly a fake dating proposition. She’s always working multiple jobs to provide for her and her son and family. They both struggle to ask for help and feelings develop.I loved this book and how the story evolved. I loved that after years of trying to do everything on her own Dolly found someone in Stewart that she was able to find happiness, love and stability all the while still following her dreams.Ver másVer menos

easy fun read
Great beach read! Fun characters, well developed. Cute story, hard to put down. All of her books are really good.

Enjoyable
I binged this audio in a day. I love Julia Whelan's narrations so much.This is a fake dating, single mom, romance featuring Dolly Brick and Stewart Whitfield. I loved everything about Dolly and her thirteen-year-old son.Read this if you like:Single FMC POVMature charactersFake DatingSingle momRich MMCSmall townI really enjoyed this a lot until the third act breakup. beautiful fairy tale
So unreal this story is so much I loved every word. The characters are sympathic and develop through the story. I absolutely couldn't put this book down. Will dream about lobster Rosmarin.

A beautiful fairytale
A nice book reminded me of pretty woman so much.Stewart is such a softie and control freak too.Liked Dolly for the strong woman who takes a whole to know her worth.

Loved, loved, loved… until the ending
Right up until the ending, this was five-star book. Funny, romantic and truly joyful. I didn’t want it to end, I was enjoying it so much. It was a true match to Annabel’s standout first book, Nora goes off script.Then I got to the last part, which was such a letdown. It didn’t ruin the book for me, because the rest of the book was so wonderful, but it really needs to be rewritten. Dolly is so strong, the scene where she confronts Stewart in his office was fantastic, and yet soon afterwards she folded instantly when she should have stood firm, and at least made him work for it. Really work to gain her forgiveness and regain her trust.Most of the book is absolutely wonderful and is totally worth reading. Fans of Emily Henry and Lucy Score will love it.Sadly, the last part is just weak and a real disappointment. You’ve let down the side, Annabel. We know you can do better.Ver másVer menos

The ending
Great book, mostly. I’ve read all her books. Love the fairytale aspect. This one was very well done, but the ending ruined it for me, a major impediment to their relationship put upmidway in the book is glossed over and quickly resolved in the end.
