Outstanding for the price and power draw, with a few quirks
Pretty outstanding kit overall. Light output in terms of color, cutoff, spread and brightness is great for the price and the draw of just under 5 amps, making these very comfortable for a low alternator capacity bike.First the bad to indifferent. The biggest issue with these lights is the mounting hardware. The plastic inserts meant to interface between your bars and the actual metal light mounts are incorrect sized. On my bike the thickest insert grabs onto the bars well, but the outer diameter is way too small for the light mounts to actually grip. This isn't really an issue of unusual bar size, they really just didn't include appropriately sized inserts. My solution was to use to pipe wrap tape, though several wraps of electrical tape would probably work. A not so good oversight but workable for the price.Secondly I'm not so sure I'm sold on the low beams being yellow. They still work well, but I think for lightning performance and visual acuity, it would have been better if the low beams were just white.The modes are decent. The DRL's are of dubious value in my opinion as the beam pattern is very small and confined to a narrow axis so I don't use it. The flashing modes are... maybe good for an emergency where you have to walk away from the bike. The horn mode flashing is kind of neat.For me the real usefulness is running the low beams full time at night, and then leveraging the built in highbeam trigger wire into your factory lights so you don't need to interact with the aftermarket switch often. The factory high beam switch and flash both work on this kit when wired correctly.When using the high beam trigger, it activates both the yellow low beam and white high beams at the same time, which does reduce their individual brightness. (When operated by themselves, each is significantly brighter) To operate just the white high beams at full brightness you'll have to cycle modes with the included aftermarket switch.It might have been nice to have that programmable by the user. My stock headlight is useless, so the way it works by default is my preference, but people with good factory headlights may prefer to have the high beam wire only activate the kit's high beams at full brightness, and not include the low beams. Overall the stock modes are probably good for most riders.The quality of the lights is fantastic for their modest cost and current draw. While the mount inserts could be improved and I'd prefer white low beams, these perform well and have good features for the price. As long as they stay reliable this will probably be the best upgrade to my bike that I've made. Takes my bike's lighting at night from "This is scary, I can barely see" to a pretty confident view of what's ahead.Ver másVer menos
