Great CPU and Customer Service
With the change to Windows 11 not being possible on my old computer which I ran 10 and XP on, I decided to finally update to a new one. A low cost way was to purchase this refurbished CPU. When I got it the CD drive did not work. I contacted the company and we decided I knew enough to install a new one so they quickly sent one. I opened up the CPU and upon removing the old drive and digging around I found that it just wasn't plugged into the motherboard. I located the proper pins and plugged it in and it's been running fine. The company told me to keep the replacement anyway. I'm writing this review on this computer. It's great, no other issues, got it to work with my old legacy programs and my old printers so I'm happy. The customer service was prompt and cooperative. The machine did not show any wear. $$$ Buy Re-Furb and save yourself some bucks! $$$$
This is my 2nd re-furb unit in my Home Network and I'm very happy with both the hardware and the customer service I've received in getting it shipped earlier than expected. It arrived days ahead of time due to several nice conversations with the representative at TekRefurbs - Thank You guys! It was well packaged and there was no damage during shipment.The unit itself booted right up, connected to my network via hard-wired Ethernet cable even though it has wireless functionality, and off to the races I went in setting it up for my needs. It is a very fast CPU, has tons of DRAM memory (32GB) and works seamlessly in my Home Network. I have several hard drives Mapped together in my network around the house so that I have a common backup drive for files and photos and this PC mapped into it quite nicely. It does have Windows 11 OS where my other PC's are Windows 10-Pro and although there are differences in the overall "feel" of the Windows versions, they all play nicely together in the end.In summation, this unit is as advertised, no surprises in functionality, everything works well, fast shipping, good support from manufacturer and I'm writing this review from this PC that I ordered. Excellent buy for a PC with Windows 11 Pro, lots of storage and RAM, but required a better wifi USB.
The PC was a great buy for the price with 1 TB of storage and 32 gb of ram. The video was also very good, but the wifi needs work, I had to go out and purchase a better wifi USB with 2 antennas that you can get from Amazon. It does an excellent job.

MISMATCHED RAM INSTALLED
Pretty upset after doing research on this Optiplex 7040. Before purchase I looked at the specs and the mobo is capable of 64 GB max RAM. This unit came with 32 GB, so all I need to do is add 2 more 16 GB sticks. ...Right??WRONG!!!The unit I received doesnt have matching sticks. According to CPU-Z slot 4 has SK Hynix and slot 3 has Samsung brand. Slots 1 and 2 are empty. As DDR4 must be installed in matched pairs for the bandwidth of dual channel mode. Any PC HW buff knows this is basic stuff, so although it is 32 GB RAM I cannot upgrade to the max of 64 unless I replace all 4 sticks! Very disappointed! Especially considering the cost of memory today.WHY would you sell with mis-matched RAM installed???Ver másVer menos

Tower is wonderful, keyboard is trash, Wi-Fi is very unstable
I'm very happy with the tower for the price. It came configured as advertised and seemed to be brand new. It took a couple of attempts to get it to find my wifi network, but once it did, setup was easy. I bought a new copy of Microsoft Office 2024 and it installed with no issues. The only complaint I have is that the wireless keyboard it came with is a piece of junk. Laggy, glitchy, almost completely unusable in Chrome. Research indicates that these are super prone to interference that will produce the problems I was seeing. So I'm back to my old wired keyboard, no big deal. UPDATE after three weeks - I don't fault this vendor, but Windows 11 is fairly glitchy, especially if you need to use Wi-Fi with this box to connect to the Internet. The Wi-Fi on this box was dropping constantly, a common complaint with Windows 11. Three days ago I was so fed up that I ran an ethernet cable from my router to my office and now have a hardwired connection that is stable and fast. I would avoid this tower if Wi-Fi is your only option.Ver másVer menos

A good value for a fairly robust Win11 computer
I finally was forced to make the transition from Win7 to Win11. I researched and this machine had the besst combination of features and price. I'm still transferring files and procedures (largely manually) but the computer is performing well as expected. Good value.Ver másVer menos
