I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to finish this series. I am glad she did a book about these 4 guys even if they aren't in the L. O. R. D. S.

Enthralling enemies to lovers
CHECK YOUR TRIGGER WARNINGSThe only reason I am giving this one 4 stars is because it just didn't hit as home for me as the rest of the series has, but definitely fits in well!Man that introduction..... interesting is the word we'll use.This is what I would truly describe as an enemies to lovers. The hate, the hate sex, the toxicity, the reader knowing they love each other but won't admit it, YES PLEASE!Raylee is definitely a firecracker and then to see how she triumphs her way out of her situation makes her even more so! Quick Read
I’ve never read a book so fast lolThe timeline was like half a week lol.It was interesting. I wouldn’t say it’s the best but I’d say it’s a cool read if you’re on a 1-2 hr drive ? lolThe spicy scene was wayyyyyyy too long for me.I’m all for degradation but this was uhmm a lot.This was like a b-list cORN if you know what I mean. It wasn’t “oh my gosh I’m stuck in the dryer whatever will I do” … this had a little more depth than that but way less than a proper … uhmm… let’s call it film. lolThe tropes are exactly what they state nothing more. Nothing less.If you need a quick fix, this is it.If you’re looking for build up. Slow-medium burn, look elsewhere because you will be disappointed.Ver másVer menos

Loved this enemies to lovers dark romance
Raylee hates her step brother Colton but she cannot stay away from him either. Colton says he despises her but can’t stop chasing her. This is a great LORDS side story. It is very dark so check your triggers. Great spice and lots of drama.

This was a whirlwind
I literally feel like I've been sucker punched. I went in blind and I'm so glad I did. Colt and Raylee were addictive! I didn't think I was ready for this book and on some level I think that still holds true. I think I might be getting old because I didn't even read this for the smut lol!! I stayed tuned for the twisty, messy relationship they had going on and how far they allowed themselves to take things and how long they were in denial about what was truly going on between them. I was like y'all are dumb lol!!! There was a lot of consensual activity going on and it was hot and all but I wasn't really into it, so thankfully the hate filled lust kept them from getting to the point and I got to read more about them fighting each other. I loved the brief flashbacks, they really added to the headspace they were in and just how inevitable they were all along.I also really enjoyed the slight tie in with The Ritual and kind of leading up to Tyson's story? Or maybe the rest of Colt's best friends will eventually get their own story too?But I've noticed that Shantel Tessier really puts her female leads through the bloody ringer more so than her leading men. There were a few scenes reminiscent of the film True Romance that just is absolutely sickening. I was like all her fmcs just get pummeled and abused! They're not weak in the sense of not being a leader, just portraying how much of a disadvantage women are against men who wish to harm them. I know it happens IRL, but yeah heed those TWs!But what this author does that I'm so thankful for is that she delivers on the revenge. Like she lives for it almost as much as it seems she lives for hate to love 'em relationships. So on that note this story was still able to deliver a pretty satisfying ending despite it feeling very short and not having a real storyline and having a very open ended epilogue in regards to the couples future. So because of those few loose ends not being tied off as neatly as I'd prefer I gave this four stars, because I still really enjoyed this addictive, heart pounding story and choose to believe that Colt and Raylee are going to make it.Ver másVer menos

what a ride … lol in the best way
Colt and Raylee were complete chaos, and I ate up every second of it. Their relationship was such a toxic, obsessive mess, but they matched each other’s energy so well.One of my favorite things was that Raylee wasn’t afraid to push back. She gave as good as she got, and watching the two of them constantly try to outplay each other made this book SO good. Colt is absolutely possessive and morally questionable, but that’s exactly what I like about himVer másVer menos

Just wow
This book kept me on edge the entire time.and the ending just wowI can't even explain how I feel !! Definitely a 5 star read

Not for me
3⭐️ 5🌶️I really loved the Ritual and the Sinner is certainly up there in my dark romance reads but unfortunately, this one just fell a little flat for me. It had all the makings to be a great read–enemies to lovers, step-siblings, and the Lords whom I’ve come to love. And while Shantel’s writing was spot on as usual, there were just a few aspects that didn’t quite do it for me.Let’s start with the positives–Raylee and Colt were both unhinged beyond belief…which was an absolute win for me. I love chaos and depravity and we had this in spades. Raylee’s actions toward Colt’s car had me gasping and the smutty scenes were super hot and full of spice. The twists and turns, as well as the final climax of this story were fantastic and really did save this read for me. I didn’t see a lot of it coming and I was shocked when things went sideways. I love how this was resolved and how strong Raylee came out on the other end.Where I really got lost, though, was the idea that Colt would ever share Raylee with anyone yet still be as possessive as he is. It just wasn’t believable for me and after seeing how our other Lords have treated their women, I just expected more from our Lord-adjacent couple. I also really struggle with other woman/other man drama and that was definitely present here, even if neither Raylee nor Colt had true feelings for the others involved.Overall, while not my favorite Shantel book, this was still a worthwhile read for me. I’d definitely recommend for anyone looking for taboo dark romance or an extension of the Lords world and I’ll certainly be reading more from Shantel in the future.Ver másVer menos

Well let me just say that this book is completely different! It’s a quick read, but it’s so amazing, it’s so steamy that I was out of breath in the end!Colt and Raylee were the best couple with the most amazing dynamics. I’m not into humiliation kink but it was so well written that I enjoyed a lot!Ver másVer menos

I enjoyed this story about Colton Knox and Raylee Adams. I enjoyed their journey to them finding their happy ever after.
