It works, but play it safe. Do it if you can accept the risk.
I would recommend some general safety on your part before you decide on taking a gamble on buying a renewed item on Amazon. I've done it once before with an iPhone 12 mini a few years ago. Loved that phone. Actually got a pretty decent phone all things considered. My experience was that of impulse. I wanted a MacBook for awhile. Last year I bought a Mac mini, but I was really starting to feel the burn of not having a real beefier computer, so I ended up getting a desktop PC. I like my PC, but it has very specific use cases. I've ran into issues where I'd like to have a laptop, or rather the portable-ness that comes with having a laptop.I was going to go with a Mac Neo or Air. But as a photographer, I really wanted to have something with a bigger screen to really get the most out of my purchase. A new MacBook M5 pro 16 inch is somewhere close to 2500. Which is out of my budget.I stumbled onto this guy and thought it was too good to be true. An M1 Pro, with 16gb for 760. I figured since the iPhone I got was good. This would be good too.And it is.I got this because this specifically had the prime association, so I figured if it didn't work I'd be able to replace it fairly quickly. I ended up ordering this and got it a few hours later which was sweet. The box it came in... what a joke. It was this flimsy cardboard that was barely holding on. The paper was warped and old. The flap it came with was very loosely closed, just moving it slightly felt like the box was going to disintegrate. Thankfully the laptop was protected with a sturdy bubble pillow case.My MacBook is virtually fine. No problems with the keyboard or screen. The back was mostly scratch free outside of the sticker residue on the back corner. But it's small and can be cleaned. It came with what I think is a real MacBook charger, but it's just USB C, not MagSafe. It had no battery life when I got it. I was a little afraid it wouldn't charge. Sure enough it did and soon we were off and running. This is a solid laptop. I've been putting it through the paces and it's been working great. It's got a fantastic screen and has all the extra ports, like HDMI and SD slots. I've taken a look at the battery and it's been showing at around 90 percent. Not too shabby I say. The battery life is crazy. I have a windows 16 inch laptop for work and it's dead within like two or three hours. So far I've been unplugged for a hour on this guy and we're on 98%. I've watched a few videos and written this review in that time. The reality is this laptop is older and in terms of compatibility who knows how many updates it will continue to get. However, I'm not overall too worried as long as it lasts for two or three years just so I can get the most out of it. Once it's gone I'll see about turning this into a linux based laptop and live out life that way to eek as much as I can for this. The screen on the is really incredible and it for sure has some pop to it. The mini LED tech is really so cool to see in action on this. I watched the movie Casino on here and it was impressive seeing the black ratio be pretty good. Not quite OLED, but mark my words. The OLED MacBook Pro is going to be complete overkill. I will say, when this computer finally won't update anymore, I'll definitely end up getting a new one since I'll know for sure I'll my moneys worth out of it.Ver másVer menos
