  Toothpick for a Squirrel

  Well, howdy there, folks! Let me tell ya 'bout this little piece of steel I picked up. Now, I’ve always been a massive fan of Gerber. They just know how to make a tool that works as hard as a mule.But when I first cracked open the package on the Gerber Paraframe Mini, I ain't gonna lie, my heart sank a bit. I looked at it and thought, "Lord have mercy, what is this? A toothpick for a squirrel?" It was just so durn small! I felt like I'd been short-changed.But boy, howdy, was I wrong.Once I started carrying it around the farm and putting it to work, I fell head over heels. It turns out, that tiny size is its absolute best feature. When the summer heat hits and I’m kicking around in my lightweight shorts or hitting the trail in my jogging pants, this little fella is a godsend. Regular knives pull your pants straight down to your ankles, but not this one. At a mere 1.4 ounces, it clips on, weighs next to nothing, and completely disappears. You can't see a bulge, and no one even knows you're packing steel.It turns out it's just downright perfect for everyday chores. Gerber went and proved me wrong again with this Gerber Paraframe Mini, and I couldn't be happier about it!Ver másVer menos

  My favorite small knife (after a month)

  I'm no knife expert. Definitely not a knife snob. I'm not using this knife for survival or defense...I hang it inside my pants pocket and use it to cut stuff. If that is how you plan to use it, I recommend that you give it a try.I really like this little knife. I wasn't sure if I would like it, but the ridiculously-low price enticed me to give it a try. After using it for a month, I wouldn't have been disappointed if it had cost a few bucks more. It came reasonably sharp (not shaving-sharp, but paper-slicing sharp) and has held that edge for the short time I have been using it. It is light. My cheap kitchen scale says it is 1.4oz or 40 grams, so it weighs about the same as $1.75 in quarters. For being so small and light, it feels quite solid to me. It opens smoothly and has no wiggle in the blade when locked open. It looks like it has a (nylon?) washer next to the blade to keep it snug and smooth. Hopefully that will last for a long time because I imagine the blade would wiggle a bit if that wore out.I saw several reviews that said it can't be opened and closed with one hand. I didn't find that to be true. It would be lot lot easier to open 1-handed if they added a thumb stud or extended the back of the blade, but I don't have a lot of trouble with it unless my fingers are slippery. In any case, I find it easy to close with one hand. Not always the case with lock blades.The one problem I have with this knife is the center hole on the side opposite of the clip is large enough to get a fingertip into when digging around in your pocket. It is POSSIBLE to nick your finger on the blade if you're not careful; not too likely, but possible. I find that clipping the knife inside my pocket at the top makes it easier to find and makes it less likely to nick my finger when feeling around in my pocket. I haven't actually cut myself yet, but buyers should be aware of that until Gerber changes the frame design.Overall, this has become my favorite small knife for everyday carry. I also carry the tiny Swiss Army Classic, but this knife is much better for cutting things more substantial than an apple. If you're on the fence, just give it a try (before they realize they could charge a few dollars more.) I'm buying another in case I lose this one.Ver másVer menos

  This knife is a must have for all ladies, it's small and discreet.

  I've been looking for a small knife to add to my keychain that wasn't big, bulky, or intimidating. This little Gerber Paraframe Mini is perfect. It is incredibly lightweight—I honestly forget it's there until I need it. The open frame design looks cool, but it also means there's less metal, so it weighs practically nothing.It's been a lifesaver for all those little daily tasks: opening Amazon boxes, cutting twine, slicing an apple at lunch, you name it. The blade is sharp right out of the package and the locking mechanism feels solid and secure, so I'm not worried about it accidentally closing on my fingers. It's not a heavy-duty survival knife, and it's not meant to be. It's the perfect small, reliable blade to have on you when you unexpectedly need one.Ver másVer menos

  Perfect Pocket Knife But Not For EDC

  Great little pocket knife. The clip is strong and stays clipped. Sharp and perfect for boxes and other things. It IS small, I wouldn’t buy it for EDC.

  Nice EDC! Useful, sharp, and durable

  Great little knife! Durable too. It arrived plenty sharp and has been put through the paces gardening, opening boxes, building things, etc with no problems. I've cut that thick football field turf with it too, no hesitation from the knife. It's also more comfortable in my pocket than my keys! Big win.   Excellent value: Good quality, durable, lightweight, inexpensive

  I like to carry a small pocket knife less than 3 inches. I lost two expensive small pocket knives and after shopping extensively for another replacement knife I decided to buy this Gerber knife. During my shopping and research I discovered that most knife blades are made of stainless steel (SS) so they will be rust-proof. On the other hand, high-carbon steel (HCS) is best for knife blades (and sword edges) because it is easier to sharpen and it holds the edge better. Most high-carbon steel knives are too expensive--but not this Gerber knife. This knife is both stainless steel and high carbon steel. It will sharpen with a finer edge and also hold the sharpness better than SS. Moreover, it is about 20-times less expensive than a premium blade SS or HCS knife.Yes, the blade is somewhat difficult to unlock. In fact, it took me a few minutes to figure out how to unlock it from the open position. Although it is a common locking mechanism, it has been many years since I have owned a knife withthis type of lock. The stiff lock does not bother me much because after a couple of times opening it up I got use to it.I really like the size of the blade being much wider than the previous knives I used to carry.Yea, the knife is probably made in China, but so are most knives these days. Expect to pay over about $200 to buy a quality small new knife that is made in the USA (For instance Case xx).The blade is sharp enough for me, right out of the package. I bought a small sharpening wet stone today and I am going to use it to keep a nice sharp edge on the blade.I'm definitely going to get a second one of these knives as a back up--in case I accidentally lose this one.Ver másVer menos
