  Gerber and Smith and Wesson Knives

  I would like to preface this review by saying I have purchased Gerber knives before and have loved them! I felt they did everything they were meant to do and retained their sharpness. Unfortunately I lost my last knife which is why I bought another one lol. Good product, good name, good quality knives. I would buy one again, in fact I have. The Paraframe I fits nicely in my hand, which is small, and the blade is easily extendable and retractable with one hand (and long fingernails for you ladies). I have used it for many things from food to opening envelopes to target throwing on trees lol. I'm sure if I had had it longer I would have found more uses for it. I am no expert on knives by any means, but this one felt good in my hand. The product itself gets 5 stars sight unseen. The customer service from Amazon and ONTRAC on the other hand, sux ass.4/27/11-- This is the second order I have placed with Amazon that has some how gotten messed up. (The previous order was for a few books. For some reason a few books were ordered in duplicate, and not because I clicked to order duplicates. After noticing and immediately calling Amazon, I was still sent and paid for a duplicate book). So, today, after staying home all day waiting for a package to come, I found out it was attempted delivery at 7:42 am this morning. Apparently, the driver couldn't get in the gate since it was before business hours (there is no place for special delivery instructions to list a gate code or any other info). I didn't realize this until about 2 pm when the UPS truck came and went and no package. Which I needed today. After contacting ONTRAC (which they aren't) I had to page the driver to see if he could do a run back and deliver my package. OF course not. He's out of range. But I can drive to a crappy part of town to pick-up my package tonight. I don't think so. So they will be dropping it off in the morning sometime when I am not home and it will be sitting outside for the next 3 days. I am not happy with Amazon or ONTRAC by any means. The only reason I am allowing delivery is so I can write a review of how beyond unhappy I am with both Amazon and ONTRAC. After today, I don't think I will be using either. EBAY is much better and my purchases come when they say they will, and in the proper amount I ordered. I know they are safely delivered to my mail box awaiting my pick up and not sitting outside like this one will be, and maybe it will be there when I get home. Just FYI, my hourly rate is $65. Times 24 hrs (minimum) is $1625. This is the cost of my time which has been wasted by both Amazon and ONTRAC. Don't suppose either of you will credit my account will you?Update 7/11/11. The knives I ordered, I never received. They were delivered by ONTRAC (see above) and most likely delivered and left on my front door step. They were gone before I got home.   My go to pocket knife.

  I have owned various other brands and styles of clip in pocket knives. Some are a bit clunky or not user friendly. I have found this paraframe to be an excellent jack of all trades. I carried this when I worked in retail and frequently needed to open boxes in order to stack merchandise or break down boxes for the recycle bin. I have also used it as my every day utility knife on the garden and farm for everything from cutting twine, scoring drywall, to harvesting corn and zucchini. And if I find myself in a sketchy area, walking back to my car, it’s easy to tuck it in my hand with thumb on the flip knob, keeping it ready.The slender, all metal frame allows it to be fairly obscure and lightweight. I can even wear this in my skinny jeans. It tucks away nicely, and does not “print” or get in the way. It is very easy for one-handed deploy. And once you learn the trick for folding, that can also be done one-handed. Occasionally,, I do have to carefully re-Bend the clip to its snug position because it can start to pull outward with use. I have also found it fairly easy to sharpen. There are several small, inexpensive tools available that can hone the flat blade as well as a narrow rod to maintain the serrated portion. If you need a respectable every day knife that won’t break the bank, this is an excellent option.Ver másVer menos

  Great edc!

  You know, I really do like this knife. In fact, I own two of them, a fine edge and a half serrated model. Both work well. They fit my hand well and feel good in the hand. Neither of mine operated all that smoothly out of the box. I still can’t flick them open quickly, but they open better now. The frame lock is quite sturdy. The only thing I would change is the thumbstuds. They are too big, stick out too far, and tear up my thumb if I open the knife too often in one day. I could take a dremel to them, but I have better things to do. The pocket clip is quite strong, and I have zero complaints with it. I might advise clumsy people to avoid this knife. It is possible to cut yourself inadvertently due to the skeletonized nature of the knife’s frame. A little care and common sense should help most people avoid this, however. I haven’t had any incidents with cutting myself while the knife is clipped to my pocket. The knife arrived quite sharp and good to go. There are no bells and whistles on this knife. No jimping, no assisted opening, average Chinese steel. But you know what? I don’t need anything fancy for an edc blade. This knife does what it is supposed to do: it cuts and locks up well. For about $11, this knife is a good deal. Both of mine should last for years.Ver másVer menos

  Strong and Slim but hard to open

  The quality is excellent: seems like it would hold up through just about anything you throw at it. It came very sharp right out of the package. It locks firmly and has zero play when fully open. It is very difficult to open with one hand using the thumb studs so using two hands is almost necessary. It is also very difficult to move the frame lock out of the way to let the blade back down. For these reasons, I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.it weighs 82 grams (2.85oz) and feels very light weight.the blade is 73mm (2.8 inches) long and 3mm thickwhen open it is 181mm (7.13 inches)when closed 115mm (4.13 inches) & 32mm (1.2 inches) widethickness without pocket clip and thumb studs 8mm (0.32 inches)thickness with pocket clip and thumb studs 15mm (0.6 inches)its pretty thin and doesn't normally bother me when i sit down with it in my back pocket.The pocket clip on mine is pretty tight - it can be a struggle to get it to clip onto my jeans.I just got this knife today so hopefully the resistance will eventually diminish and it will eventually become easy to open and close.1 MONTH UPDATE: I loosened the torx screw as much as I could before the nut started spinning - I tried everything to loosen it more but failed. Overall, the blade is a lot easier to open now compared to day 1. It's still pretty tight, but I can open it with one hand quickly and with ease. I can also close it with one hand now but only a few times before my thumb hurts.I've used it to cut boxes and string, and I have to say the serrated edge is great!Ver másVer menos

  What a great knife!

  I think this is the perfect knife, holds an edge and great with he serrated back edge, value for the money is great, slim design and a great looking knife makes this a must carry for everyday. This is my fourth only since I keep leaving it somewhere! Love the grey color as well!Ver másVer menos
