Another Good Read

I had been Danielle Steel fan years ago and then stopped, I have rediscovered her work and truly have enjoyed each of the newer books I have read! Thank you!

Drama filled, emotional and riveting!

A tumultuous night in a Paris landmark hotel changes five lives forever in Danielle Steel's latest novel. With descriptive prose and decadent settings Steel quickly had me hooked as scandal, danger and lives hanging in the balance erupt on various scenes at the same time.My favorite characters in the book were Gabrielle who was taking her first solo trip to a place that held dear memories since her soul crushing divorce ... and Alaistair who is searching for peace and guidance on his first trip to the hotel as life shifts around him.The story is filled with 3 various storylines with some intermixing as scandal shows the true colors of an ugly politician, a life-threatening episode endangers the future of a formerly clandestine couple and how a by chance meeting can lead to life changing experiences and happily ever afters. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an emotional journey through life's ups and downs.Ver más

Reading this book is like people watching with a good friend, and Steel is the one weaving elaborate stories about everyone who passes through the hotel’s doors. Except in this case, she also tells us what happens to the guests between visits.As with all her books, COMPLICATIONS tells a story about people who lead lives far more extravagant than those led by most of her readers. These are people with wealth, power, public ambitions, and private secrets, whose decisions can save their lives or condemn them forever. So much weighs in the balance, it makes for a sumptuous read that we want to slurp down like an exquisite French champagne. Despite all that, though, this story is fueled by Steel’s trademark quality: hope. For even on her characters’ darkest days, there is the chance that this time things will be different if they are only brave and bold enough to make it so.If you enjoy stories about the jet set and the opulent lives they lead—lives filled with unexpected triumphs, devastating scandals, and real human emotion—you’ll love Danielle Steel’s COMPLICATIONS and your visit to the Hotel Louis XVI.

The reason why Danielle Steel is enjoyed by the world.

This book is why I read Danielle Steel. Fun characters who fall in love after tragedy, loss, or some type of negative issue in their life. A strong setting. Strong dialogue. One of her best. Total page-turner. Quick read. Enjoy it during a weekend with a few cups of coffee or tea. Then pass it to a friend for them to enjoy. A fun tale worth talking about. Loved it. I hope she writes more like this one. I will be a very pleased reader.Ver más

Grand Reopening

The Hotel Louis XVI which has served some of the most rich, famous and loyal guests are excited about the final renovation which took four years.Unfortunately, the beloved manager has passed away and so they are set to open with Oliver Bateau as the new manager and Yvonne Philippe as his assistant. Things never seem to go as planned and that is evident the first week of the hotels reopening.One of the visitors has a heart attack and thanks to the help of a doctor and the patience's fiance they are able to save his life. In additional an accidental death of a Russian blackmailer who is linked to a French politician who was planning on running for a higher office is exposed. He will not only be accused of murder but possibly convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to prison for the rest of his life.As if that is not enough for a first week one of the group is contemplating suicide as he sees no way out of his situation.Of course, although we have internet and phone access problems while they are still ironing out the kinks we do find relationships developing and people becoming friends by just meeting one another.Several of the guests lives will be changed forever and some happy and sad endings will occur. * Loved It *

The Hotel Louis XVI has just completed a four year major renovation. There is a new manager, Olivier Bateau, and his new assistant manager, Yvonne Philippe. Olivier has never managed a hotel of this importance and is extremely nervous about doing his job. Yvonne is used to working under stress and for the rich and famous. She is cool as a cucumber the total opposite of Olivier. She is also aware that protecting their privacy is of the utmost importance.The guests who stay at the hotel are rich and important but wishing for privacy during their stay. Gabrielle is staying there in the same suite she used to stay in with her former husband. He left her for a new piece of arm candy who was forty years younger than him. Although she has been divorced for more than two years this is her first trip alone. She has her own business as an important art consultant and has many meetings scheduled.Alistair is quite a handsome man having kept up his looks and body. He is there for an important meeting.Richard and Judythe have each just gone through messy divorces to be together. They are madly in love and this is their first vacation together.Patrick has made a reservation for a plain and simple room for a meeting. He is the minister of the interior and has aspirations of furthering his political career. Olivier upgraded his room due to his importance and Patrick was not happy about this.They are all hotel guests during the first week of the reopening. The incidents that happen during that time have really rattled Olivier. He isn't quite sure how to handle any of the emergencies. He is quite thankful for Yvonne and does express that to her.Each of these guests have an important part in this story. Happenings become very emotional for all or them. Danielle Steel knows how to write a story that grabs you right from page one. I loved every minute of this book and didn't want it to end.Ver más

A good read.....

Complications by Danielle SteelCentered around an Exclusive Paris Hotel. Each person who arrives is facing a (personal) challenge. Love, friendship, danger and scandal touch the lives of those who sign in. One thing for sure lives will be changed when they walk through the doors (of) Hotel Louis XVI.A contemporary women's fiction moving at a steady pace. Each character has their own complicated story, with a bit of mystery, danger, romance, and scandal. A good read.Ver más
