First hour wearing…have noticed band texture to be a little annoying

I just placed this watch on my wrist today and have only worn it for about an hour. Upgraded from a series six. At the moment, my initial impression is good, although, I must say that I’m a little disappointed in the comfort of the extra pricey band. The band fits well and looks classy, but the texture seems to be a little irritating to the skin, so if you have skin that is sensitive to texture, then you may want to keep that in mind when choosing your band style. I’ll come back to update my review over the next few days to give updated reports about my impressions on other features as I get to know this watch.Ver másVer menos

Sleek and helpful for tracking fitness activities

Overall, I like having the ability to track my activity in my fitness. It's also hopeful with phone calls, messages, and music when I can't necessarily rely on my phone or use my phone when I'm multitasking/working out.

  Love it

I love this watch. It even works with my Dexcom G7. I don't need to carry my phone around the house because everywhere I go in the house or right outside is more than 33 feet. It also does everything my phone does.

It's a decent upgrade if you have an older watch...

⌚ I already had a Series 9 45mm but I found over time that it was bigger than I preferred, especially if you put a case on which adds ~2mm. Since I wanted to upgrade I got the Dark Bronze with a 42mm case this time. There weren't any defects with the construction of the watch, I did an extremely thorough inspection of it directly under a bright lamp. It did arrive a little dirtier than I expected of Apple, the back of the watch (sensor side) had some cloudy residue and smudges on the zirconia, but it cleans with a damp microfiber towel easily. My watch was made in Vietnam, band was made in China.⌚ I attached pictures showing the case size differences between Series 9 45mm and Series 12 42mm, with guidelines so you can eyeball the difference. It's obviously smaller due to being 42mm instead of 45mm, but alsothinner, because Series 12 was after Series 10 which was when they actually made them thinner.🎨 The Dark Bronze color is beautiful, it's great that they went with a "Dark" tone for this, it's very easy to go too bright or cartoony with brown and then it looks awful and doesn't match with anything. This is a very high-class, subdued brown tone, very professional, reminiscent of bronze statues, art, ancient civilizations, it matches with your other brown accessories: belts, shoes, etc. If you're someone who prefers a darker color palette, your past choices were Space Black, Midnight, this would be perfect for you if you wanted to take a step toward adding more color to your life, while still leaving one foot in the dark.👑 The crown on Series 12 was widely discussed as protruding outward ("it looks like Shrek's ear") more than on prior watches. In person it... matches what I saw and was already expecting, yeah it's a bit out there but I don't really mind it. If you're going to use a case like I do it isn't a big deal and it's actually preferable, if you had a case on without the protruding crown, the crown would actually be a recessed into the case, making it harder to grasp with your fingers, especially if your fingers are big.If you're going to apply a TPU/EPU screen protector (the flexible ones):🫧 After applying it perfectly you can still have air bubbles. The big ones can be massaged out, do this by using the included microfiber towel between your finger and the screen, or the squeegee, push the bubble toward the closest edge with a firm press toward that direction, do this repeatedly, it will make its way to the edge slowly, then out.🫧 For smaller air bubbles (possibly left by massaging big air bubbles), just leave them alone! Don't think the screen protector failed and don't peel it off! Just wait, if you wait about hours they disappear on their own. I had about six to eight small bubbles that I was convinced would be there forever, but they magically disappeared after waiting hours, the screen protector is now spotless and 100% void-free. You can still use your new watch while waiting. I also replaced the screen protector on my Series 9 afterward, that one had even more bubbles, I had to wait an entire day for those to disappear, possibly because those screen protectors were old, but they did.👎👎 Also two thumbs way down for the September device rollout, it was a disgrace, the new Series 12 and Ultra 4 watches crashing as much as four times a day, new iPhone 18 Pros crashing on Face ID repeatedly, the issue was so bad, generating such negative press, that they released an emergency WatchOS 27.0.1 hotfix on 9/24/26 and they just now released an emergency iOS 27.0.1 hotfix for the Face ID. Until they released the patch I was of the opinion that nobody should buy the new watches yet, since we weren't even sure if it was a hardware defect. It's unacceptable for a trillion dollar company to fail so badly. I held off on opening the watch until after the 27.0.1 hotfix was released, since opening it I've not experienced a single crash, so the hotfix appears to have worked. Some miscellaneous things that might not be obvious:❓ While testing the watch, you may want to test that all of the LEDs on the back side of the watch light up properly. To do this, buckle the watch band as if it were on your wrist, hold it in your hand, then go into the Blood Oxygen app, run a Blood Oxygen test, while it's running, slowly turn the watch, you don't want to turn it quickly otherwise the watch will lock. You should see all of the LEDs lit up solidly, not blinking, four red, four green, in an an alternating ring layout. You can also do this in front of a bathroom mirror to be able to see the back of the watch without having to rotate it toward you.❓ It comes with a Siri Modular watch face, this is a special variant of the Modular watch face with a special color that matches the case color you picked (ex: "Dark Bronze"), you can't apply the special case color on the regular Modular watch face. Other than that the other two differences are that the center complication can't be specified (it's uses whatever is pinned to top of smart stack), and it lacks the ability to specify an upper left complication.❓ Series 12 and Ultra 4 have a new "Daily Steps" complication listed under "Activity", the older watches don't have this, so you might want to pick that as one of your complications since it's exclusive to your new watch.❓ The new watches track steps more accurately than older watches, on older watches you had to swing your wrist to get it to track steps (some people cheated steps by just sitting and swinging their wrist), now it no longer does, you can swing your wrist and it registers nothing, you must really move your legs now.
