  A big refinement on earlier models

  Roughly the same size inside screen as previous Fold models but it folds the other direction to create a more usable outside screen. Also very compact and light in the pocket. Construction is top notch coming from the Fold 3. Not missing the Tele as earlier folds had such a bad Tele lens, it was better to crop the main 48MP sensor over using the 3X 10MP Tele. Still wobbles when set down compared to the Pixels. Can come with free Satellite messaging and AirDrop/Quickshare now work together.Ver másVer menos

  No S pen support and Batter is improved significantly from Fold 7.

  Disappointing for the Price, No S Pen Support Is a Major Step BackI really wanted to like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, but after using it, I decided to return it. For a phone this expensive, I expected much more.My biggest disappointment is the lack of real S Pen support. I am a student and use my phone for serious reading, studying, highlighting, taking notes, and annotating documents. I knew about the S Pen limitation before purchasing, but I thought a good external stylus would be an acceptable alternative. It was not. The external stylus experience is nowhere near the accuracy and natural writing experience of a real S Pen. On such a large foldable screen, proper pen support would have made perfect sense.The battery life also disappointed me. I expected stronger battery performance from such an expensive flagship device, especially considering that the large display encourages multitasking, reading, video watching, and other demanding uses.The Fold8 certainly has strengths. The large folding display is beautiful, multitasking is impressive, and the phone feels premium. But those things do not justify the price for me when a feature as useful as S Pen support has been removed.For students, researchers, professionals, or anyone who reads and annotates documents regularly, I would think carefully before spending this much money on the Fold8. There are less expensive devices that provide proper active-stylus support and may be much more practical.For nearly $2,000, I expected fewer compromises, not more. I returned mine.Ver másVer menos

  My new Zfold 8 device.

  This is a very slim phone. Which, makes it a very delicate device. I love it. But, there's a lot of new features that must be learned in order to get the most out of this device. I definitely got to be very careful while using this device to prevent it getting damaged. Again. I love it and I plan on keeping this device for a very long time.Ver másVer menos

  An ingenious take on a foldable phone. **UPDATE**

  I have been a Fold owner since the first gen and Samsung has come a LONG way since then. I wanted to try the Fold 8 over the Ultra for a few reasons. Primarily, the new form factor was exciting to me. If you want to pass on reading the review, I will spoil it and tell you that it is an amazing device that most folks should jump and buy. For more nuance, stay with me.I got it early on Tuesday from my carrier. At first , I was really stunned how little it is. The photos online don’t really give you the whole picture. This is a little fatty of a phone. For my first few days, I wasn’t sure I would keep it. Coming from the Fold 7, which I LOVED, I had gotten used to a pretty much regular size phone screen as the main screen. That screen was so good that I really didn’t open the big screen all that often. Only for videos or when viewing something that needed a big screen. Otherwise the main screen was perfect. The Fold 8 completely flips that whole approach on its head. This phone has a screen that really is just fine for basic day to day things. Shooting a text or an email. Making a call. Maybe a quick web search. Anything more cumbersome than that, and you will want to open this phone up. At first I didn’t fully appreciate the extra work but now I think I love it. It actually forces me to enjoy the very thing that makes a Fold special.There are many other benefits to this form factor. One underrated benefit is the wider body of the device. Texting when the phone is closed is awesome. The extra width makes the keyboard almost impossible to mistype something. Auto correct will be a thing of your past with this keyboard. Video on the short wide screen when open are awesome. Better than the big Fold because less of the screen is black bar. This size is designed to improve video. You can then just flip to portrait when surfing or doing anything else, and you have almost as much real estate as the larger Fold. It is just so great.Battery life is really good. All day in fact. Even with heavy use on the big screen. The new silicone carbon battery tech allowed Sammy to fit more battery into this phone. It worked well. The new hinge is fantastic. So satisfying to use. The new brighter screen makes things almost feel like they are going to pop out of the phone. Awesome! The new processor is a beast as well. This phone is crazy fast and will be able to handle as many tasks or games as you want to throw at it.All isn’t perfect though. They couldn’t fit the third camera into this form factor, so no telephoto lens. You will only miss it occasionally, but when you do, you will. Digital zoom just isn’t as good. The phone can also warm up a bit. Not enough to cause issues but they were not able to fit liquid cooling into this phone like they did with the 7 and new Ultra. Not a deal but it is something you may notice. Also, in spite of the zero crease discussions I have read, it is still there. Barely visible now but still there. It just doesn’t bother me and I doubt it will bother anyone it actual day-to-day use.So, who should buy this phone versus the Ultra? To me, most people. It is sooo much smaller when folded but gives you most of the benefits of the larger device. It actually is better at many things like video viewing as well. Serious business people that rely on spreadsheets and large documents are probably the only people I would push towards the Ultra now. Apple folks should keep waiting. Their new foldable is finally coming and it looks like it is going to look very similar to this one. You guys should be excited though I am nervous to see how their first foldable is executed. It has taken Samsung years of trial, error, and refinement to make a phone this special. This is an amazing device. Cheers to Samsung for continuing to challenge the norm and make amazing hardware. Buy with confidence. I will update as I get more time with it.**UPDATE** So, I continue to be mesmerized by this stubby little phone. So are most of the folks i have run into in public. I had it at a bar on Saturday night and complete strangers were asking me about it. This form factor is that different. The battery is also really unbelievable. I am getting about a day and a half with fairly heavy use. So good so far. More to come.

  Absolutely in love

  I've had every fold since the far and for the first time I finally feel the got it right. The form factor is perfect for what I use it for. I can finally type comfortably on the outside screen or read articles without feeling like everything's just a little bit too narrow. The inside feels like real tablet this time, everything looks like it fits properly especially when I'm watching videos. The battery life has significantly improved even with it only being about 10% more. I can finally last the entire day without having to recharge towards the end of it. This is the one, and probably the first one that I won't upgrade next year because I'm so happy with the design. I got it a little early and have been using it for close to 2 weeks now and the screen crease still hasn't gotten as bad as it did on any of the previous models. Completely recommend this one if you've been looking for a fold.Ver másVer menos
