Extremely comfortable headphones

This is my first pair of Bose headphones, and I can understand why people like them so much. I have quite a few other headphones to compare them to, and these definitely hold their own. All of the buttons are intuitive, and I really like that they have an actual switch to power them on and off. They are also lightweight, which makes them extremely comfortable for long listening sessions.As far as sound quality goes, these sound very good. They have clear, crisp highs, full mids, and well balanced bass. I do wish they had more than a 3-band EQ slider, but you can still customize the sound to your liking.The transparency mode is excellent. Everything sounds natural and doesn't have that robotic or processed sound that some headphones have. As for the ANC, I compared them to some of my other headphones while mowing the lawn, and they just weren't as effective as the others I tested. This is the main reason I knocked off one star. The ANC isn't bad by any means, I was just expecting a little more considering the advertised price.Overall, these are great headphones. They are extremely comfortable and sound great, but I was hoping the ANC performance would be a little better.Ver más

Perfect fit

Awesome. I have the original quiet comforts and these feel snugger on the head which is good for working out. Super comfortable. They look sleeker and slimmer too.

An upgrade over the last QC headphones, still clearly their mid-range product

I have a love/hate relationship with Bose lately. Their QC Ultra series of over-ear headphones are great while their QC Ultra earbuds line is terrible, far too buggy to be a product on the market. I tried their QC earbuds, which I'm 100% positive are developed by Skullcandy (including the app) and had mixed results, also with their QC headphones. The QC headphones released a couple of years ago were essentially the QC45 with worse ANC.I decided to try these and again have a mixed bag experience and it's mostly due to their high price. These are $40 less than the Sony WH-1000XM6 yet should be priced $100-$150 less as the Sony outperform them in every way. These have flagship pricing while being a mid-tier product. I'll start with the positives.These headphones are lightweight and comfortable. Bose finally updated the design and they're a cross between last generation's QC headphones and the QC Ultra series. They look more streamlined and not like something my father-in-law would daily carry. The QC headphones 2nd gen still fold flat and into themselves for easy travel and they come with a nice travel case. It's not as nice as the case the QC Ultra gen 2 or Sony XM6 headphones come with, but it is better than a bag or the bra case Apple has with the AirPods Max.There's ample space in the ear cups for my ears and I don't experience fatigue after wearing these for long period. Overall sound quality is ok. These have a sound signature that most people will find pleasing and you can EQ them in Bose's terrible app. The app sees these headphones half the time and it isn't limited to just limited to my Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. These support multi-point, which is great, so I have them paired to my iPad 13 Pro and phone. The app has issues detecting the headphones on both devices.Even when you can EQ them, it's only a basic 3-band EQ. That's enough for most people though and does the job. The app lets you adjust other settings and Bose opened the QC series up to USB audio. This provides a lossless connection, but that's just marketing fluff and overkill for anyone actively using these headphones. These aren't the type of headphones you're going to do any critical listening on, they just aren't made for that and it's fine.Unlike the QC Ultra series, these don't support more advanced codecs. You get AAC and SBS only. No aptX (though Bose's implementation of aptX is extremely flawed because it relies solely on the Snapdragon sound platform), not licensing LDAC, no LC3, no Auracast, nothing advanced. These have bare basic codec support. That's fine for iPhone's where Apple's AAC encoder is top notch. It's terrible for Android phones were AAC codecs vary by OEM, release, Android version, and/or security update. They're all inferior to Apple's AAC encoder and produce higher lag compared to aptX and even LDAC. Bummer.Bose added some tricks with these, like cinema mode and faux surround sound. I disabled all of them and they only deter audio quality. I think they're all gimmicks, regardless of brand. Any attempt to "upscale" stereo audio to a fake surround only decreases details and audio quality with most of the audio coming through the center. What's the point of doing that? It also reduces the headphone's battery life from 24 hours to 18 hours, all just to make it sound worse. Bose also took out the analog 2.5mm input and made these accept wired audio over USB-C only. However, they did include a 3.5mm to USB-C cable, so that's nice. No charging brick (which is fine) or airline adapter.The ANC on these clearly put them as a mid-tier product, at best. There's still an audible hiss when the ANC is enabled and people sensitive to ANC ear pressure will experience it with these. I'm ok with ANC ear pressure, but these are clearly using Bose's old ANC tech. I wouldn't have an issue with the ANC being this bad compared to the QC Ultra Gen 2 or Sony XM6 headphones. But, right now, both of those headphones are only $40 more than these. I wouldn't be saying much if Bose launched these at $250 (except for when Sony re-launched their XM4 headphones and those get down to $199). For $250, I can live with some of the shortcomings and mid-tier ANC.But, for their $360 MSRP, there's no excuse why the ANC lags so far behind Sony's and Bose's flagship headphones. Not only that but both flagship headphones from Bose and Sony sound better with Sony's app being miles ahead of Bose (and offering a more advanced EQ). The Bose QC headphones 2nd gen occupy a weird spot in Bose's lineup. I get them wanting something priced below the QC Ultra 2nd gen, which have an MSRP of $450. But they're routinely on sale for $380-$400. When that happens, it's hard to justify these headphones given their so-so audio quality and hiss-producing ANC that cancels out less than my Sony earbuds (which also cost $60 less than these headphones).Bose needs to figure out pricing. I get that everything is high these days, but these are priced way too high. They're a step up from the first generation QC headphones, which were actually a decrease in quality compared to the QC45. These still don't match up to the QC45 despite the age of those headphones. I just can't recommend these headphones at their MSRP. They need to be $100 less to justify their performance. For $40 more, you can buy much better headphones that have increased ANC and better sound quality with more advanced codec support.

Awesome, but not in all ways better than 1st Gen

It's tough to go wrong with Bose QuietComfort headphones. With the Gen 2 they've upped their game, but also left a couple things behind.To begin with the noise cancelling is excellent. Probably better than Gen 1, but we're talking about degrees here, not leaps forward.Size/comfort is about the same. The ear cups look pretty much identical. The covered portion of the headband is wider on the Gen 2, but the portion of it that is padded is the same as Gen 1.Ergonomically, the on/off button has changed from Gen 1 to Gen 2, but the functions work the same.Capability is the big difference. Gen 2 offers immersive audio (with immersive, cinema and a custom configurations). This is probably the biggest difference for me. The immersive audio is both impressive and addicting. It also breaks down further into still and motion modes where the immersive sounds can vary (or not) when you move your head. It's pretty cool (though it does eat up battery life faster).If you're planning on watching a lot of movies the immersive audio probably makes the extra money for the gen 2 worthwhile.Now, what got left behind?The new headband adjusts smoothly versus more of a "ratchet" feel on the Gen 1. Personally I like the way the Gen 1 headband adjusts better.When you turn on the Gen 1s they have a voice prompt that tells you what they're connected to along with the battery level. With the Gen 2 all you get is a tone for each item they connect to and you have to check the device or the app to see if they're connected/battery level. Honestly, I'm not sure why they left the Gen 1 version of this functionality behind.Playing music: for bluetooth music I thought Gen 1s sounded better. The Gen 2s aren't bad, but seemed a little harsh at the high end compared to Gen 1. Now, Gen 2s do have lossless capability when using a USB-C connection, which is probably nice, but not something I'm going to use.Are the Gen 2s worth the extra money? Well, it depends. If you're just doing audiobooks and bluetooth music probably not, but for streaming TV/Movies I'd say they are.Ver más

I've used Bose headphones before and these are pretty much what I expected from Bose. The noise cancelling is top notch. As soon as I put them on, noises like my microwave, washer, or dryer pretty much disappear. I bet these would also work great on an airplane.Sound is the typical V-shaped sound, with boosted bass and treble. The bass is pretty thumpy, but thankfully it doesn't bleed into the midrange too much, so the sound doesn't get super muddy. The soundstage is also surprisingly wide for a closed-back headphone.You can use the Bose app to choose different EQ presets and adjust the sound. I tried the bass boost and thought it was honestly too much, but you can adjust the EQ to your liking, so that's not really a problem.The seal around my ears is very good too. At moderate volume, I couldn't really hear anything leaking out when someone else was wearing them. I only started hearing the music when they turned the volume up really loud.The clamping force feels just right to me. It doesn't squeeze my head too hard or give me a headache. The headband extends quite a bit, so if you have a larger head I wouldn't worry too much. There are no "clicks" when adjusting it like its predecessors so you can make very small adjustments to get the fit right. The yokes also swivel left and right to fit different head shapes, and the headphones fold nicely into the included case.Cons:Mine are black and have a nice matte finish with a glossy Bose logo. The matte surface doesn't really show normal fingerprints, but if you touch it with oily fingers, you'll definitely see the marks.I do like the new screwless chassis compared to the older design because it looks cleaner and more modern. BUT I wonder if that will make replacing parts harder later. One thing I always liked about Bose is how easy it is to replace the headband or other parts when they eventually wear out.I also noticed the headband extension rods are different.
