  Perfect protein forward snacking

  Minty and crunchy and just enough chocolate to dissappear quickly from my snack cupboard. I loved every little bit.

  If you're looking for a protein bar that's pretty good for you too, these mint chocolate Mezcla puff crispy protein bars are a decent option if you like mint. There's not any weird additives or junk beyond the ever mysterious "natural flavors". If I have one gripe with the ingredients at all, it would be the inclusion of palm oil. The fiber to sugar ratio is nice at 3g fiber to 6g of sugar, though it still contains 21g of carbs total. Definitely a pass if you are low carb.The bars arrived fresh, and the flavor is ok. The crispy protein puffs don't have much taste themselves, despite looking chocolately. The mint chocolate flavor is almost entirely in the chocolate coating on the bottom, and it's pretty good. Real peppermint oil is definitely present in there, since it gives you that bit of fresh minty tingle when you swallow. If you hate peppermint, you are gonna hate these.There's a few cons. I didn't find them particularly filling, but they worked as a stop gap quick treat. The flavor also at times can give you a bit of that mouthwash vibe. Additionally, for something supposedly sweet, it is more salty than I would have expected. I also don't really notice any almonds in the bar either. I wouldn't know there were any in there at all if I hadn't double checked the package. You really only notice the pea and quinoa crisps.Price per bar is a little steep, but won't break the bank. It hurts more when considering the flavor of them is just mid. Mezcla makes better flavors in my opinion, and I would buy those over these.Ver másVer menos

  These are fine as a dessert or snack, but not a protein bar that’s filling enough for breakfast. These Mint Chocolate Puff Crispy Protein Bars thankfully do not contain any artificial sweeteners, stevia, or monk fruit - all of which to me have an unpleasant taste, and I’d much rather have a small amount of “real sugar”. These bars have 5 g of added sugar from tapioca syrup and sugar. These mostly taste like a milk chocolate, and the peppermint flavor is quite mild. I couldn’t taste any almond butter which for me I wish that was noticeable. The pea crisps add a slight crunch - to me theres something that tastes slightly stale but there’s not anything that’s very objectionable. Overall for me I prefer a brand that has Rx in the name and has egg whites as the protein source and just dried fruit and nuts, with no added sugar at all.Ver másVer menos

  Lighter, crisper alternative to dense protein bars that's good as a dessert alternative

  Let's start with the obvious question everyone's going to ask: how does it taste?While everyone's tastes are different, I loved these. The overall flavor and aftertaste reminded me of my favorite Girl Scout cookie, the Thin Mint (it has the same amount of calories as a little less than 3 Thin Mints). The crunch reminded me of a Nestle's Crunch bar, only even crunchier and more filled with crispiness (from pea protein and quinoa crisps). There's a thin layer of chocolate and peppermint oil gives it its mintiness. It does feel light, airy, and crisp, and is largely devoid of the level of chalkiness that often accompanies other protein bars.The next question most people will ask is, is it good for weight loss? The answer to this depends. Each bar has 160 calories; by comparison a Nestle Crunch bar has about 230 calories and a fraction of the protein. If you're eating this in place of a heavier dessert like cookies, candy bars, or chips, it'll help you get a nice bit of satisfaction at much lower calories than those, and higher protein content (the protein-to-calorie ratio is about 1 gram of protein per 15 calories, which is pretty good).But I wouldn't exactly call it a meal replacement bar. Like I said, it's a good replacement for dessert or part of a breakfast, but for a meal replacement you'll probably want a lot more protein, healthy fats, and micronutrients.Similarly, it's not necessarily ideal for a keto or low carb diet: one bar contains about 18g of net carbohydrates, including tapioca syrup and sugar. Again, it's a much better option than a full-blown candy bar, but it's not exactly as "low carb" as you can get. If you're on a gluten-free diet, I'd say this is one of the best gluten-free candy bars I've had, devoid of any kind of wheat and rice gluten.Overall I think it's great for fitting into a controlled diet, but you'll want to study the label closely to be sure it's right for you. But again, I was very happy with it taste-wise, and I like how it came in a box that you can fold to look like a store display.Overall, I found it a great choice for the occasional snack in lieu of dessert or a portable snack when hungry that's far superior than most things you can grab at a supermarket checkout line. It's also a great post-exercise snack.I do like that these are made in the USA, and that the company supports The Hunger Project. It seems like a great brand that i hope people will try out.
