Scary transaction w/ empty delivered box, but Customer Service replaced it
I had not purchased an Amazon Refurbished product before. But we were looking for a large capacity 1TB iPhone 17 Pro, and didn't find one available for under $1300 + tax at local Apple Stores. With the new iPhones coming out at the end of the summer, we didn't want to pay full price, but our old iPhone was full and wasn't working very well. So, during Prime Day sales, we decided to order a Renewed Premium iPhone 17 Pro 1TB from Amazon. It wasn't available for next day or 2 day delivery, but the priced was great under $1300.When delivery came, I was waiting by the front door like a little kid during Christmas. I opened the Amazon box showing 2 items inside and I grabbed the Renewed Premium box and there was no shrink wrap, no sealed close tape to prevent the box from being opened. In my hast, I didn't even record the box opening process. I just flipped open the lid and was shocked to find an empty box with just a charge cable and no iPhone 17 Pro. I looked at the Amazon outside brown box to check for tampering, looked good, one layer of table, not cut open and resealed.I called Amazon Customer service immediately, she said the driver made a mistake and would deliver it the following day (a weekend delivery). My order showed as delivered. - about $1300 and all I had was an emplty box with a USB-C charge cable. That's it. Did I just make the biggest mistake on this on-line order? Why didn't I. record opening the box? I felt bad, and thought driver error??? No way, the outside brown box was sealed. The refurbished box had to have been tampered with in the packing and shipping stage, not during the delivery. I called Amazon Customer Service again, explaining the empty box. They asked for photos which I took shortly after the delivery. They agreed to send a replacement.We got the replacement and were quite happy with it's like new quality. No signs of use, no nics or scratches and it's battery was at 100% capacity with I think 1 cycle on it. Amazon came through with a great replacement. It took several hours to restore and then add it to our account. But all works great now. So, it was a little scary with no product in an empty box, but Amazon Customer Service (my second - third calls) did fix the order and it was a great deal.Look at the refurbished details carefully, and video opening the box and the package contents so you have some evidence on what was was actually in the box. Especially if it is not shrink wrapped or sealed with tape. My video of the replacement didn't show the shrink wrapping well in the photo grab of the opening of the shrink wrap.Thanks to my 2nd and 3rd contact of Customer Service to resolve this purchase. And PS the iPHone 17 Pro is awesome and has lot so space to record kids and concerts.Ver másVer menos
