It's a Great Deal. The Complaints Make no Sense to Me. There are no Installation Issues.
It's a Great Deal and the Complaints Make no Sense to Me. TurboTax is now available only by buying the software online and only runs on Windows 11 PCs if you use Microsoft Windows. But, if you buy it early, you get a big discount.Installing the software is just like buying any other software online.1. You go to the link provided by Amazon and TurboTax and you download the version you bought by matching the icon. Simple.2. After downloading, you click on the Open icon and it will launch the EXE file it installed in your Downloads folder.3. You follow the normal install steps, including agreeing to the Terms and Conditions.4. You will get prompted for the 16 character Activation Code, which Amazon provides to you after you buy the software in your own Amazon "Software Library." You cut and paste this text string.5. In the case of Premier, TurboTax will prompt you to join the Online version instead for free. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO THIS IF YOU VALUE YOUR PRIVACY AND DO NOT WANT TO SHARE YOUR TAX DATA WITH TURBOTAX. The only real benefits are 1. instant updates, and 2. File anywhere, anytime. However, we do not use this option, nor do we want to share our data with Intuit. So, we opt for "Install on Desktop" instead.6. Done. Your software is now installed Once all this is done, you will need to follow the normal steps to "Check for Updates." Updates will come fast and frequently in January - March, so be sure to update every time you use your TurboTax software and also right before you file, as they fix mistakes as they find them.In short, it makes no sense to wait until March to buy TurboTax software, which now works very well and has few bugs in it. Buy it early and save a bundle.Ver másVer menos

Works pretty well, good updates.
I have a love-hate relationship with TurboTax, but if you need accounting and tax software this is the one to get and learn it.

It does the job with a little hick up here and there.
It does the job, but you have to update the product frequently as there are issues that get resolved with those updates. Had some issues with uploading W4 PDF so had to do a lot more manual work than expected.Unfortunately, since we’ve been using TurboTax for years we have to stick with them unless we want to try another product and fill in all the information from scratch again.Ver másVer menos

A big help for preparing business taxes but multiple annoying problems
Long time TT for business user here: more than 20 years.Plusses: it is a big help preparing taxes (I've filed for 1120-S corps and 1065 partnerships). Some problems:- Intuit keeps slipping schedules for when TT will have forms et al completed in order to file. This year they said Jan 30. Jan 30 arrived and Intuit said forms will be delayed to Feb 6 which is today and they still are not ready. TT offers to place you on a list for notification when the necessary items are available but the web page you are taken to errors out: Sloppy and I still have no indication of when the needed forms/features will be ready. Browsing the turbotax website you can discover a page detailing forms yet to be released and anticipated release date. The ones interesting to me are listed to be released on Feb 10. We'll see about that.Update: It's now Feb 10 and the forms I need are not ready. Again. New date (from Intuit's webpage) is Feb 13.I am waiting on forms for a California LLC, not something exotic at all.Intuit does this every year and the availability of all necessary features for filing keeps slipping out. Bear in mind the filing deadline is March 15 for corporate returns, a month earlier than for personal returns. This makes some sense since the corp returns generate things such as Form K1 that your shareholders will need to file their personal returns.I deducted two stars for this: one for the delays/dragging out of necessary forms and one for the general sloppiness in notifying when those forms will be available.- There are a bunch of annoying problems that Intuit seems determined never to fix. Example: When doing the CA state return TT will complain your balance sheet is out of balance. If you look more closely you will discover the discrepancy is caused by failure to account for CA's treatment of state corp tax you paid. This is fixable but the only way I know to do it is to use the forms view and find the line on the state return where you can make the adjustment for corp state taxes paid. There are many similar problems detected during the review that require you to check this box or that, enter a number that TT already knows, etc. It's almost always something that could - and should- have been caught during the interview process.I deducted one star for this.Update 2/17/2026The forms I needed finally became available hence I filed both federal and state, both returns accepted by their respective agencies.Reopening TT to inquire about status of the return I am informed the federal return has been accepted. No mention of the fate of the state filing and no way to find out inside TT!On top of that, having filed TT solicits me for a review of the product and guess what: that errors out.So an overall eval at this time is still TT is a big help filing taxes but the execution is very sloppy and buggy.Update 2026-03-03Updated turbotax software and rechecked status of state tax return: nothing! Turbotax has forgotten all about it!I called customer service and they advised they had indeed received the state return and filed it with the CA FTB. Great. BUT: they don't think there is a problem to be fixed. I beg to differ: I deducted another star for this.

Been using Turbo Tax since 1998. I could not do my taxes without it. However used to be easier to install with the CD.
