Works seemlessly with OBS Studio
In the unboxing, you'll note that this device is very well made - solid frame with easy access ports for your HDMI in/out as well as USB 3.0 port to your computer and mic/headset ports. This device is completely plug-n-play, and I tested 3 devices, all of which required no real configuration through OBS Studio. I also recorded a clip using VLC media player which required a little more set-up, but OBS is the better choice if you're planning to live stream and have multiple setups. The device appears to capture standard 1080p at a full 60 frames per second with ease. 4K is limited to 30fps, however streaming in 4K is cumbersome anyway, and for standard recording, games in 1080p at 60fps is plenty for either streaming or recording. I didn't test PiP functionality as I really don't have a need for it, but OBS has plenty of options to make that work if that is what you are interested in - note there is only one source in which is pretty standard.
