Tipsy M1 Review (Initial Thoughts)
I've been considering making the switch away from over-the-ear headphones for a while for gaming. I mainly play FPS games and MOBAs, so being able to accurately pinpoint sounds and where they are coming from is very important. I did a lot of research before deciding to purchase these OEMs, and I have not been disappointed!When you first unbox these, you’ll find that you get several accessories, including several sizes of ear tips, a memory-foam ear tip, your cable, and an 6.35mm adapter if you’re looking to use these with studio equipment. All of this can be conveniently stored/transported in the surprisingly sturdy tin provided with Tipsy’s tagline “Felling a bit Tipsy”.I also have to call out that these are BEAUTIFUL! The picture doesn’t do them justice, but the pattern/finish on these is so dope, and even has a sort of blue-shift depending on the light. Bummer that you don’t really see this yourself much as they are always in your ears!Jumping into using them, one thing I’ve never liked about over-the-ear headphones was that they would usually begin to bother me after 2-3 hours of gaming (getting heavy), and of course the dreaded “headphone hair”. I’ve put in several 2-3+ hour gaming sessions since picking these up and they have not bothered me once! I typically forget they are there, which is in no small part to how light these IEMs feel.With both IEMs in, noise cancellation is also great! I typically can’t hear if someone is talking in the other room, or sometimes even if someone comes into my room with them in.The only knock I can give these in terms of build is that the cable is a bit short - I am only a couple of feet from where they plug into my computer, but I do find I pull on the cord quite a bit. That said, Tipsy sells longer cables (some with in-line mics), as well as cable extenders.As far as sound goes, I am by no means an expert, but I find these to be very accurate in terms of sound. I don’t have any trouble placing where sounds/people are in-game, and I also find that these don’t overpower on the bass, which some gaming headsets can do.I have also listened to my music with these (Hip-Hop, Pop Punk, EDM, and other genres) and all of them sound great with these M1s. Again, no expert, but I do feel like certain elements of the track/mix come through with more clarity - makes sense considering the typical use for IEMs!With that said, I really enjoy that I can go between several different use cases (gaming, music, streaming shows/movies), and these sound great with all of them without any tweaks/audio mixing necessary.I believe these are a great entryway into IEMs for anyone who may be curious about giving them a spin, and at a price point that won’t break the bank.Ver másVer menos
