Best Smartwatch

I suffered under an Apple Watch for more than three years. Finally my series 3 was acting its age, so I decided I wanted something … different. I’m SO glad I went with the Amazfit Active!!!! I MUCH prefer the Amazfit to my old Apple Watch even in this first week. Here’s why:Fit: My old watch a higher profile and gets caught on shirt sleeves. It also slightly presses into my wrist in an awkward spot and hurts after a while. Many days I didn’t even make it to dinner without taking it off because my wrist was sore. The original band was also hard to get at a comfortable tightness, and if the watch slipped at all, the sensor would cut out and the watch would lock because of a small bracelet tattoo on my wrist. I’d say it auto-locked every couple of hours. The Amazfit is very slim and hardly feels like I’m wearing anything at all. It has been incredibly comfortable, and it has only had the connection lost because of my ink once despite wearing it with cuffed sweaters, winter coats, and wearing it to bed. This is amazing to me!Features:I used only these features on my Apple Watch: ping my phone (about 8x/day! Thank you, ADHD brain!), read texts, voice text (with humorous results), answer and handoff calls, track fitness and workouts, check the weather. I turned off most of the other features because they annoyed me. Amazfit can do all those things except voice text, which my husband is probably glad about. 😁 The pinging of my phone is a DREAM because it will ping and vibrate, and starts with a soft beep that gradually gets louder if I don’t find my phone right away.I’m using additional features on the Amazfit that I didn’t on my old watch, like Sleep tracking, heart rate, stress metric etc. This is partly because Apple didn’t have some of these features (stress level, for example), partly because the battery life on the Apple Watch was about 15-18 hours (Amazfit 5-10 DAYS) so I didn’t wear it to bed, partly because the sensor couldn’t connect half the time because of my ink, and partly because sleeping in it was uncomfortable. So I’d say the Amazfit features are a WIN.Screen on the Amazfit is much larger despite the whole watch being lighter than my old Apple Series 3.I love that Amazfit will sync with some Apple services, but is still independently. Apple Watch tends to weirdly hijack the AirPods signal for some apps. For most well known music apps it’s fine, but for other audio apps, every time the watch screen woke, the audio running on my phone would cut out as the watch tried to take over. This was actually my #1 reason for upgrading because there’s no way to disconnect AirPods from the watch in the Apple ecosystem without disconnecting them from all other devices. That’s not an issue at all with Amazfit.I also love that I can set DND (do not disturb) on my watch but still get notifications on my phone. I can’t tell you how useful this is, like if a group chat is suddenly blowing up, I can stop the haptics buzzing my wrist but still check in on the conversation on my phone’s lock screen or see them on my laptop.Not that it matters, but the Amazfit has waaaaaay more screen background options that are so much better looking than any Apple has.Premium:Now for an Amazfit Active 2 Premium/Regular comparison. I actually ordered both, thinking after I’d set up the regular that I’d rather have the sapphire glass and upgraded body. BUT I surprised myself by preferring the regular model, even after really wanting to love the Premium. Why?—The regular glass has less glare, brighter color, and is more “touchable.” Your finger slides across it smoothly like butter and it’s immediately responsive even if my hands are dry (or sweaty). The Premium glass takes a more intentional touch, feels less responsive to me, and has a very slight bulge that makes the watch feel thicker. It also seems to struggle more (like my old Apple) over sleeve cuffs. Is it thicker or is it just the texture of the glass? I don’t know, but I do know the regular Active 2 is more comfortable to wear.—The Premium is two grams heavier. Not a big deal at all, but when it comes to all-day (and night!) comfort, it is noticeable.—The leather strap with the Premium does NOT feel premium at all. It feels like a discount pleather watch strap.—The unboxing of the Premium is great BUT no cord comes with the charger. The regular is basically packaged in zipper bags in a box with some bubble wrap like Amazon did it themselves (or like it had been used and returned). Wonderfully, however, the charger of the Regular comes with a USB C/A charging cable. I know we all have dozens of those in every room, but don’t they all go into hiding the instant we actually need one? It was nice to open the package and have EVERYTHING I needed to get started right there where I needed it.Ver más

OUTSTANDING

Update with more love than before!!UPDATE: I just discovered a "find my device" feature. I lost my watch and was able to find it from a feature on the app that made my watch vibrate! I'm always using the "find my phone" feature from the watch and making my watch either vibrate or ding (even when my phone is on silent mode) but now I discovered I can find my watch too!! Seriously LOVE THIS watchI love it so much that I've considered buying an additional one just to have as a backup incase anything ever happened to the one I have. IT'S THAT AMAZINGThere are so many things I love about this watch! I've had several smart watches ranging from $25 to $300, and this one is the BEST!! THERE ARE SO MANY FUNCTIONS! I don't like to write reviews because I'm a horrible texter from my phone but, I HAD to sit down and take the time because this watch is just SO AMAZINGIn no particular order:1. I love that you can hit either button on the side in order to turn the display on.2. The connection from bluetooth is seemless3. Once you turn the watch on , you can easily turn the display off by covering it with your hand- which is super helpful at nighttime when you don't want to have a bright light.4. The "find my phone: feature works perfectly even when my actual phone is on vibrate or on silent mode. It makes my phone either vibrate or ding, even if I have the ringer off5. The app is super friendly and easy to use.6. The voice assistant works well7. You can voice text a reply to text messages8. The user interface is easily customizable, allowing you to choose which features you want to quickly access9. The GPS is built in- you do have to download a map of the area you want to locate10. Both a pro and a con - you can only choose 50 numbers to store (which is more than many other watches allow)11. Picture text messages display on the watch12. Sleep tracker is informative13. You get tips on improving your sleep score14. Pretty in depth heart monitoring- tracks various stages beyond pulse (sleep rate, resting rate, tells you if your heart rate increased or decreased after exercise).15. Multiple reminder options: go to sleep, walk, stand, move16. Congratulates you on goals (steps, standing, etc)17. Gives you a pretty in depth summary of your readiness for the day based on your sleep- comments on: physical recovery, mental recovery, sleep RHR, Sleep HRV, breath quality, temperature - tracks it for 7 days.18. Great battery life19. I have tiny wrist and the watch band size/length is perfect because the excess strap does not cover the sensors on my wrist.20. The watch band stays nicely tucked in21. You can easily put it in sleep mode and do not disturb mode22. Easily pair headphones23. Has a lock feature for going swimming24. The initial display tells you a TON of info: time, Heart rate, weather, steps, distance, date, day of week, readiness score, sleep hours from the night before, battery, altitude, hours you've stood, calories burned, etc25. Easily see the weather for the day and full week.26. Quick access to the calendar27. Great to-do check off list (add you're items in the app) check them off from your watch- think grocery list or daily reminders28. Play music29. See upcoming events30. Takes your temperature31. Has a compass32. Has a barometer33. I can add my gym membership card to it and not have to bring my phone in the gym34. Waterproof tested!35. Find my watch feature from the app36 SO MUCH MOREThings I don't like:1. Limited face dial options to switch out. You have to pay for most options - they're about $2. However the standard one is very informative2. Once you look at your text messages on your watch and reply, they automatically delete from your watch history. I would like the option to keep them and be able to send an additional reply.3. You cannot initiate a text message from your watch. You can only reply.4. You can't send an audio text messages and you cannot listen to audio text messagesBut seriously, this is THE BEST Watch I've tested and owned. It blew me away with features. I love it!!
