Physical buttons + Water resistance = works in heavy rain and shower (unlike ALL capacitive earbuds)
I don't understand the logic behind other earbuds that claim water resistance with capacitive controls. I have tried almost a dozen across various brands and NONE of them work properly when wet. It's not that the water damages them (it doesn't), it's that the capacitive buttons can't tell a water drop from a finger, so they're constantly registering false touches, jumping tracks, changing volume. CAPACITIVE EARBUDS ARE USELESS WHEN WET. (Fine once they dry off.)This WF-C510 pair from Sony, with physical buttons instead of capacitive touch, is the FIRST SET EARBUDS I'VE FOUND THAT ACTULLY WORK IN THE SHOWER or heavy rain.If you're just going for a jog in light mist or some drops of sweat run down your ears, those others do OK, but in a heavy rain or if you want to listen in the shower, go for these. I use earbuds in the shower so I don't wake up my spouse or kids if I get up early. I used to use a suction cup Bluetooth speaker, but that's loud and disturbs the family.Another problem with many capacitive earbuds: if you don't have any audio playing for a few minutes, they'll turn off to save battery... but because the capacitive touch requires power to work, there's often no way to turn them back on without putting them in the case and then removing them. This means if you don't have the case with you, you can't use them at all. I have actually bought extra cases just to leave in the places I often get stuck with powered-off earbuds, but what a waste of money that is!But note that where JBL, for example, sells just extra cases for their capacitive buds, I don't see that Sony does that. While you don't really need an extra case for these because you can turn them on and off via buttons, in the event you do want an extra case, be aware that your only option might be used on eBay.Also, these Sony WFD-C510 earbuds are small (compact, in the best possible way). These are some of the few earbuds I've found that I can wear under ear protection when mowing or doing other loud equipment work. Most other earbuds are bulky in comparison and ear protection pushes against them directly, really digging into the ear. These are so slim, you barely feel them even while wearing ear protection over them.On sound quality, these are great. They're not the best overall, but I think they are the best per dollar (and no earbuds are as good as real headphones if sound quality is the primary goal). They sound amazing for $50 buds.So, yes, overall, I would highly recommend them to anyone, but especially if you care about using them when very wet or under ear protection. Best I've found for those scenarios by a wide margin. To address both issues with a single pair of earbuds is incredible. One of my favorite bits of tech ever.Ver másVer menos
