  Great chip but prices are going up....

  I have used the 2 Tb version of this WD for over a year. I have it connected to a Thunderbolt port on an m4 MacMini (installed in a hub). Its I/O is at Thunderbolt speeds...which is to say indistinguishable for the internal startup disk. However, I purchased this in April, 2025 for $128. The current price for same is $300. This price increase is due to demand on chips in consequence of Ai expansion in the industry. Whatever the downside might be for Ai this one is certainly measurable.   Fantastic PCIe 4 ssd. Great specs for write/read, and especially sustained writes.

  I wanted a reliable, fast ssd for a thunderbolt 4/usb4 enclosure. After much research, I decided on this ssd. Yes, it's not the fastest ssd, and not the latest PCIe5. However, it delivers write/read speeds in excess of the bandwidth limitations. I'm getting write speeds of over 2775MB/s and read of over 2850MB/s. And, with the abundant hybrid cache, the sustained writes don't seem to recede. Super fast, with less temperature/power issues (than the top of the line, newer ssd cards). It delivers the same throughput as the newer, faster cards (which would max out at about the same level, due to the bandwidth limits). Saved some money, which is always a welcomed feature. In the near future, I'll spend the savings on a faster card (probably the WD SN850X) when I purchase a thunderbolt 5 enclosure.Very pleased with the specs and real world performance of this ssd.   great for gaming

  one year later - still amazing. Super fast, if you are gaming I doubt you will need to use anything else. I do not edit vids so can't comment on that, but no issues after a year of regular gaming use is good enough for me.

  Haven't had it for very long but Transfer speed were great and download and write speed were good as well

  it was great when it was cheap.

  I use it for dual boot situation this one hold my Linux OS. When I bought it it was cheap.

  Excellent upgrade for any system need disk performance.

  Paired this with the SABRENT M.2 NVMe SSD to PCIe X16/X8/X4 Adapter Card with Aluminum Heatsink, Easy Install, Supports 2230/2242/2260/2280, Not Compatible with SATA or PCIe x1 (EC-PCIE). Works perfectly!!! Love this drive.
