Great set of lights!
I've had these for about a week now and I love them.We do some video work, but mostly photo work, and these lights are wonderful to work with for most of our projects where we don't want to use strobes, but need to light a subject - even with daylight. The ability the brightness and the light temperature is an absolute necessity. We used them along with some smaller RGB cubes and the combination is a really great combination for shooting dark scenes. The still of the young man was shot with my camera while using these lights. I had not yet set up a backlight.. The brightness on these is good for practical use where you are controlling your light in a controlled setting. They should be adequate for most small projects. The app is ok, but not great. Although the master/slave setup is decent, we are too particular about color and brightness ratios - I think we will stick to controlling the lights manually. An actual remote would be better, although I haven't played too hard with the app, since I have other things to use the ipad and phone for. It's just easier to have one of my assistants adjust the light. We also own 5 Yongnuo lights, and while I do like those, the exotic power supply in combination with the noisy fans makes using those a huge PITA for video projects where I want to record audio ( We will probably pick up another 2-3 GVM lights to replace the other set entirely ), so these are absolutely great. No noisy fans! The carrying case is a HUGE plus for our on-the-go projects, particularly since we were overdoing it with our larger lights. I love the mounting bracket these come with. You can mount the light upright ( which is intuitive, or - mount them perpendicular to the ground - which allows for considerably more movement with the barndoors. While the included light stands are good enough for novices, we mount ours on nice heavy c-stands since they will get used outdoors, at night, and in a wide variety of situations. So - when on a 14 ft C-stand, it is absolutely a HUGE plus to have that kind of versatility. The other lights we have owned DO NOT come this way. GVM did us a solid courtesy with this. It is still nice to have the smaller stands, and novices will find an exceptional value in having everything they need ( except for the batteries ) for any on-the-go project. This is normal for LED RGB lights - even high end lights.PROS:+ Fully controllable color temperatures + RGB + Brightness+ Can be controlled with app, with master light, or manually.+ Bright enough for most projects.+ No noisy fans+ Power supplies and mounting brackets included (EFF you Yongnuo)+ Carrying case, light stands (good for indoor use only), and lights are lightweight and easy to transport for most projects.+ Mounting bracket enables more versatile 270 degree vertical movement, and 360 degree rotation when mounted sideways.+ Some of the lighting effects are gimmicky, but Halloween + gimmicky can be fun. :)+ Color accuracy is good, but you may have different colors with different brands of lights working with them. Make sure you check both colors before shooting.+ Panels are very lightweight... ( Lighter than the Yongnuos... EFF you Yongnuo )Negatives- The app can be wonky, but this may be my phone/ipad not playing well.- Light stands are adequate for indoor use. For outdoor use, you should either invest in better light stands, or WEIGH them down. All in all - I strongly recommend these for photo or video work. Note - the images of the woman and the hand were from me testing these out for creative projects.Ver másVer menos
