One of the Best Home/Office Printers I've Ever Owned
After reading (too many) of the negative reviews, I was hesitant to order this HP laser printer. But looking at my options and my budget, I decided to give it a try. After a few days of use, I am extremely pleased with this printer.First of all, the setup was a lot easier for me than many of the reviewers experienced. Basically, I took it out of the box, plugged it in and got ready to use the HP123.com set up app. (The toner cartridge was pre-installed.)I set the printer up using my iPhone as I already had an HP 9018 color inkjet printer in my office (another great printer by the way). I would recommend NOT trying to set this up via your computer, if you have a smart phone available. The HP123 app set up this printer on my 3 wireless laptops without a hitch in less than a minute each. For my 15-year-old Dell XPS tower desktop that does not have a wireless connection**, the HP app was able to find that computer on my network and set it up to print -- also in less than a minute. I was able to print a test page from all 4 of my computers, an Apple iPad, and 3 Apple iPhones in less than 20 minutes total. The print quality is what you would expect from a 300dpi laser printer. Good enough for a home office. The speed? Well, I was replacing a 30-year-old HP Laserjet 4MP where the power supply finally died, so the speed was amazing compared to that older printer. It's quiet too. About the same as the color HP 9018 as far as loudness. The scan and copy functions are fast and produce good copies. The auto-document feeder works as expected. This new printer has not lost the wireless connection a single time since I installed the printer.Of course, I can't speak to the longevity of this printer. But if it continues to work as it has been, I am going to be extremely happy with this HP product. The price has been ranging between $149, $199, and $279. At the two lower prices, I think this is a 5-star printer for a home office. At $279, I might want to check other options.I highly recommend this printer. I have zero association with HP, although I will acknowledge that I have owned the HP Laserjet 4MP, the Deskjet 990c, and the Inkjet HP 9018. All served me well and I think this one will do the same.I should note that the printer does not come with a user manual that would show you all the functions and how to use them. I'm assuming I can find a manual somewhere on the HP.com website.** I thought I was going to have to use a USB A-B cable (not included) to get this to print to my old Dell desktop. But once the HP123 app saw the printer on my network, the USB cable was not needed. But there is a USB connection if you do need it for an older system.Ver másVer menos
