Not bad so far
I'm giving this an initial 5 stars just for being as inexpensive as it is and actually doing what it's supposed to. Though I do not have the experience or the knowledge to test all the claims made in the advertising. What I do know is that my main goal was just to have an inexpensive iron with some way to control the temperature (even if it isn't 100% accurate).And importantly for me was the auto shutoff feature in which it shuts off after 5 minutes if you're not holding it or moving it and comes back on when you pick it up. That seems like a brilliant feature for the price of this thing. And it works. I wouldn't leave it plugged in unattended just as you likely wouldn't do with anything that heats up. And especially knowing that sometimes things that don't cost a lot don't cost a lot for a reason.The included tips are just about the only thing I will ever use out of the rest of the included accessories. The solder seems OK for maybe a couple of quick cheap and dirty jobs. The flux seems nearly useless. The stand is next to useless but you're not going to get a decent stand with a soldering iron this cheap.I tried it out. It works. It didn't combust. I'll call that a win for now and update my review later down the road.A few things of note....The power cord is predictably a little stiff and the strain relief is not the greatest. So you're really not going to want to try using the included stand. You want it in a real stand. Or else you will likely get burned or burn something around your work area.Not much else I can say. My first soldering iron in the 80s was a cheap one from Radio Shack that probably costed more than this. And I'm pretty sure it only came with one tip. I would not buy this expecting something that could stand up to a lot of hard use. Though maybe it would. But I doubt it. It's doubtful anyone with a legit soldering station would bother with this thing.The handle stays relatively cool and I found no issues there when using it.Ver másVer menos

Excellent soldering kit for small appliances
Really easy to use. Both iron and solder are of high quality. Amazing that they offer such a nice kit for such a low price. I have used it to fix a couple of tiny power connections that had broken. Took seconds to finish the job. Includes stand, cleaning sponge (pretty tiny LOL) and rosin plus 5 additional tips.Ver másVer menos

Excellent Value Soldering Iron Kit
For the price, this soldering iron kit is hard to beat. At just $10, I wasn’t expecting much, but it has exceeded my expectations. The 80W iron heats up very quickly—within about 10 seconds—and the digital LCD makes it easy to set and monitor the temperature. Good for the price, accessories leave a lot to be desired.
Works fine for my needs, I've used it on several soldering projects and it does what it says on the box and it's quite easy to use, although I must admit I haven't really fiddled around too much with the settings aside from adjusting the temperature to where I need it. The cord's a little short I guess. Handle stays nice and cool with the iron set to max temperature.The 'stand' and the little sponge [about the size of two stamps put together] are not good, however. Really the accessories included might be appreciated better by someone who is just starting out and doesn't already have the assortment of tools hanging around that their wife complains about being on the kitchen table. I wouldn't really expect a quality stand/cleaning solution with this however, given the price, that they're included is a nice little bonus I suppose and might make it easier for beginners to not have to assemble a daunting assortment of tools for one little project they might not even finish. If you're going to get serious about soldering however, you'll want a quality stand, you do not want this soldering iron to fall out or flop around when it's hot, as obviously you could start a fire or injure yourself badly. I recommend the 'helping hands' stands, a magnifying glass/light is a useful bonus too.Anyway, this iron does what it says it'll do - the accessories included are lackluster, but appreciated for the price point. Get a real stand so you don't hurt yourself and jump on in, it might seem intimidating at first but soldering is a useful and satisfying hobby/vocation to practice in your spare time. Oh, and the flux provided with this product was hard as a rock upon arrival, I guess maybe I could use it if I heated it up? But it's just a solid little block of rosin, I use the type of flux that comes in a syringe/tube, sort of like thermal compound or flea meds.Ver másVer menos

Great Soldering Iron with accessories
Came across this iron when looking to replenish solder and flux, my current soldering iron requires filing the tip every so often to keep a usable tip. Seeing that it included a small amount of flux and solder, it was a deal! The set arrived and I was ready to get the projects started up; reviewing the contents, everything shown was included. I opened the flux to begin, only to find the flux was completely solid, looking like Amber. Flux can be softened up by placing it in a microwave for a few minutes, here it was about 4. However the flux is only usable for a few minutes..The Iron itself is great. I was first impressed with the tip retention, messing with a cumbersome Philips or "cross" screw is not necessary. The cord was also better looking than any of my previous soldering iron pencil types. I really enjoyed leaving it plugged in and simply turning it off by pressing both right and left buttons simultaneously, and to turn it on was a simple press of a button. The temperature adjustment was straight forward also, simply hit the left button to lower, or the right to raise the temp.The auto-shut off is a real handy feature; I have on several occasions been lured away, leaving the iron on and became distracted. It was great to see that it did indeed, shut off. To restart was a simple press of a button.. The iron does heat up quick and really has been great to use!Ver másVer menos

Great kit
Great solder starter kit. I used this for micro soldering & it worked amazing. I’d still be using it now but I just upgraded to a hot air station which also came with a soldering iron. Soldering takes practice so don’t be discouraged if you don’t get it initially. My best suggestion is to season your tips ( get them really hot &/or sand them down a bit) & youll be perfectly fine. I’m not the best at micro soldering but I’ve learned some tips & tricksVer másVer menos
