GREAT IF YOU ARE FAN OF THE MECHA GENRE

Before you buy this game you must know that you will only enjoy it if you:A) Like strategy games like Fire Emblem Echoes and Langrisser,B) Like resource managements, andC) You are fan of mecha anime, with Gundam being the bare minimum.The game allows you to play with multiple characters from different franchises, most being from Gundam (thus why it's the bare minimum) while giving you a a fresh narrative where all this characters interact without ever feeling force. If anything the game takes advantage to pull some wacky stuff that you easily understand without the need to watch their entire show to know what they are talking about.The plot is a bit more serious as you start at the beginning of the plot of "Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2199" after Earth has lost all of its oceans from an alien invasion. It's principal themes being of not losing hope and trying to fight for the few that are still alive. You can chose between a male and a female avatar, each with their own background and personality that don't feel like cheap copy of each other, and easily allows for a second playthrough to see how the story differs from their own point of view.As for gameplay, the best way to describe it is a mix of strategy and resource management in the form of 'spirit points', or SP, that each character generates on their own and can spend to use special abilities like dodging an attack or gaining extra XP. It feels like cheating at first but later on you will have to decide when it's the best time to utilize since you will facing hordes of enemies and the amount of SP you generated is very limited depending on the build for each unit.The visuals are great, with each character attacks being a refence to one they did in their own show, especially those from Space Battleship Yamato that almost feel cinematic to watch. The only worst part of the game is the map's design. Outside of space all the maps that take place on a planet surface are ugly to look at. They are plain and boring and barely offer any type of strategy value. They are just a chessboard with a skin on top of so it doesn't feel basic.As I say, if you like strategy with resource management and you are fan of the mecha genre you need to buy it. You will not regret it, unless your unfavorite anime is one of the feature in this game. You are better off playing another in the franchise with the ones you enjoy. My first entry into SRW.

10 out of 10, this is a must have for mecha anime fans. The Switch isn't region locked so it booted and played with no hassle. My copy did not have a DLC code so I didn't have to use a foreign eshop account. Not sure if I'm missing any content but what is there is pretty meaty.Ver más

Great fun for turn based lovers

To be honest the graphic style always puzzled me; the series love to make SD versions of the robots, but it is mostly due to limitations at the time this series started. I would love to see a version with properly proportioned super robots; or maybe a Koei version of dinasty warriors with super robots. But for turn based games, this one is really funThe campaign is very long, each mission is quite a lot of work, but it is enjoyable overall. Will spend a ton of time with this game, going for all the various plots resolution. The game is not super hard, once you figure out what is more effective you will get going in no time.There is English text, so you can understand the story and figure out what all those menu say :)Ver más

High tactic robot action

English subtitles? Check.Super robots? Check.Gundams? Whole reason I bought this sucker.First print DLC? Well that's great, how do I redeem this? Oh, got it, that was easy... Annoying but easy.After playing FE:TH, I needed something else to scratch that strategy itch. I remembered playing a SRW game back on the GBA, and it's going to be a bit before SD Gundam GGen Crossrays hits the states, so I pulled this sucker up and T. Debated it for a while, but then saw that this had 00 and Unicorn units for the Gundam cast, and was sold on it.That said;SRW V follows a traditional Visual Novel meets Strategy RPG formula. You get to pick your main character, which sets you into certain routes in the game. You're also given choices throughout to make each play through unique... More or less.
