excellent gaming display for the ps4 pro or pc

mg28uq - this monitor is brilliant for it's intended use. it's basically a swift junior. the color quality and overall shading looks just like the TN panel swift monitors. the color and overall shadow texture is good but not as good as a decent IPS monitor. i bring this up simply because this monitor is excellent for gaming and for long hours in front of the monitor. it however is not what you want for fine detail , photo editing and 100% RGB. if you bring up a solid color it will appear slightly different in one corner vs another but this is just the nature of TN. the blue light reduction is also excellent and the monitor can properly display white. some of you may have noticed a lot of TN panels either making the white creme color or tinted, this one does not have that issue. i also have noticed that doing tasks that would make my eyes hurt on my last ips monitor after a few hours no longer do so with this monitor. it could just be me but this panel is very gentle on my eyes from a strain perspective. another thing worth mentioning is 1440p also looks pretty good in game. unless you have a pushed 1080 vid card gaming at 4k is somewhat unrealistic on many titles simply because the hardware won't support it. personally i have an i5/4.2ghz cpu with a 1070 vid card. fallout 4 at 1440p looks really good and skyrim remastered will run at 4k around 45-50 frames per second with ultra-ish settings. i have also tried this with the ps4 pro and my god does it work well. lastly the height and angle adjustment are absolutely top notch. connectivity is also basically perfect with a display port, 4k hdmi 2.0 input and twin hdmi 1.4 inputs. this monitor is often 75 or so dollars more than the samsung 590 but you get one hell of a lot more value for that extra money.Ver más

Great Monitor for Gaming at a reasonable price

I have always been a supporter of Asus products, and this monitor is one example of why. The quality of the physical monitor itself is fantastic. Its built solid and doesn't feel cheap. The screen is adjustable in every direction, all of the buttons are in a good location and there are tons of connections on the back for every possible need.The picture quality is great too. I did adjust the picture settings to my liking but straight out of the box it was pretty decent. I play most of my games in 4K and never have any lag or stuttering issues. I use an Nvidia RTX 2060 GPU and it's nice to be able to enjoy the quality of the games that I'm playing on a solid monitor that keeps up with the demand that's put on it. The price is what truly did it for me though. I just felt like I got so much more bang for my buck with the Asus monitor compared to many other big brands. I have been using this monitor for over 6 months now with 0 regrets!Ver más

Great budget 4K monitor

First of all: This monitor suits my needs. I am not a competitive gamer, I do not play FPS games online, and I sure as heck don't care about maximizing my frames. I would have spent a lot more money and gone with a lower resolution if that was my desired outcome.This monitor is absolutely solidly built. My last monitor was a 2K Korean knock-off (it was a usable display, but the build/stand quality was lacking). A cough would wobble the last monitor I had. For this Monitor, I have to grab my desk and shake to get it to even budge. I know, this might be a weird place to go with a review, but this is a big, heavy monitor and base.Performance: This is my first time gaming at 4K/60fps. I built a new gaming rig capable of pulling that off. And, I must say, gaming on this monitor feels like the jump I made (back in the day) from a standard tube TV to a 1080p TV. It's that big of a jump. It makes most older games look better, and newer games damn near an experience. If you have the hardware to drive a new game on ultra at 4k, this is a fantastic monitor. I haven't had to mess with settings on the monitor so far, and, even then, it's not too clunky that it becomes cumbersome.I have not, and most likely will not, use this monitor for productivity. I cannot speak to using it for editing/creation/drafting purposes. I strictly use it for gaming, and I am immensely happy with the results so far.LONG STORY SHORT: For 4K/60fps gaming, I absolutely love this monitor. Great monitor at a good price for CONSOLE GAMING enthusiasts.

I ordered this monitor because I recently upgraded to a PS4 Pro and wanted to upgrade to a 4K monitor. Since my previous monitors were also ASUS brand I decided to purchase another gaming monitor from them. I have had pretty good luck with my other ASUS monitors (which I believe I ordered off Amazon as well) so this one was kind of a no-brainer. Mine arrived with no noticeable blemishes cosmetic or other wise. I have read some reviews where the monitor came with defects but I guess I was lucky in that regard. The picture is pretty stunning when running games that actually support 4K (I realize it's not "native" 4K but what can I do I'm a console gamer). The controls are great I love the joystick on the back of the screen that lets you control all the adjustments. That being said keep in mind that this is a CONSOLE GAMING MONITOR first and foremost. The specs on this monitor favor the limits of the current generation of consoles. DON'T expect this to run high-end computer graphics smoothly as you would need to upgrade to the premium models and pay probably twice the price as this one. Overall it's a great monitor and the price is pretty on point if you are a console gaming enthusiast. Wouldn't recommend for the casual gamer as you can get great HD monitors for half or less than half the price of this model.Ver más

BEST PART OF MY GAMING SYSTEM!!!

Let's face it. A great CPU and a top of the line graphics card are useless without a good monitor. This is one Excellent Monitor!!! Larger visual area than my old 24". Pleasant surprise. Not too big for my desk, nor too small for my over the shoulder friends and kids watching. I recently purchased a stand alone CPU (HP Omen Cube) pushing the Radeon RX 480 Graphics card, which was new to me. It boosted about it's "Freesync" capability, which I had never heard of. So began my research. Simply put... Freesync makes your monitor refresh at the same rate as your GPU is putting out frames. In other words it does a great job of eliminating visual tears and ghosting images. Super smooth display, even at the max settings. (3840 x 2160) Since they always match up, the game/ computer display looks a lot smoother. For those that don't fully understand, 3840 x 2160 is 4 times the pixels of your full HD 1080p displays. (Remember the difference 1080p made, compared to your old tube televisions?) WOW! So basically, you get more detailed images. Thus I shopped around, finding several monitors that took advantage of this new tech. I settled upon ASUS, due to their longer than usual warranty {36 months). Narrowing down my choices to 27" or 28" Monitors. The MG28U was constantly mentioned and highly praised as a stable and complete gaming type monitor. The 90 degree tilt feature was actually a surprise. Turned it by accident, watching my display react accordingly! Nice! The base is very stable and weighted, minimizing its shake on my desk surface. 4K is the only way! The display is seamless! Go ahead... try to find pixels. The MG28U is plug and play. Very simple to connect and offers the latest in connectability, including a 60Hz refresh rate and native 4K UHD support via DisplayPort 1.2. (I'm using the DisplayPort to enable the freesync ability) Flawless!!! The unit also sports a 5-Way OSD Joystick as the main input controller, to select and activate the monitors menus. Nice touch because this makes the OSD menus and screen adjustments easy to work, even from the front. No need to go around the back anymore.I'm very happy with this purchase. Prime delivery was perfect. Arrived as scheduled. Very well packaged. Assembly was easy. Quality construction. Rich display. Even my subscription streamed movies and shows look better than on my television display. I'm actually thinking of buying 2 more and going for the big 3x side-by-side display, for the ultimate gaming setup. No negatives to speak of. Great product, Long warranty, Quality construction. Would and will buy again.Added 9/05/17- Still purring like a kitten with the roar of a Lion. The auto updates are coming in at a rate of 1 every 2 weeks. Accepting this as a positive sign, because its better to seed ASUS working behind the scenes with software fixes, then not. Learning more about the settings. Personal note: The auto dimming adjustment is as bothersum as it is on my cellphone. Better to keep a nice rich brightness level then watch it dim in a dark room. Still giving it 5 stars. I'll post pics when my game room is finished.Added 12/08/17 - Starting to become annoyed at an intermitant issue with my screen suddenly going blank. For whatever reason and unfortunately right in the middle of usage, my screen will just go blank. Happens at random intervals. BUt very annoying. It spans from days to a couple of times in the same day. Simple to fix with a reboot but should never happen in the first place. Never had this issue with any other monitor. Love the image quality still buty when youre working on something important and your screen just decides to go blank, it'll tend to piss you of if you loss your projects work. Not getting worse but not getting better either. ASUS needs to fix this issue.

ASUS is simply one of the best and under sold monitors on the market.

ASUS is one of the best. This was my first ASUS product because they are top of the line and usually beyond my budget. I decided to splurge.I returned the item because it would spontaneously turn off then on. However, 3 other monitors do this also. I have an older video card a PNY GTX 750. My monitor that worked at 1920 x 1280 resolution worked perfect. I sold it for a Dell 4K. It was a nightmare. It had a short 1 year warranty. They obviously don't believe in their product. So, I bailed. I got this. It has a 3 year warranty. However, I find that 4K is not what I need for general purpose uses and this was not only over kill, but I thought it was bad. However, I have since had two HP monitors also spontaneously turn off and on. So, something else is going on. The only common factor is the new 2k & 4K standards and newer Energy star power requirements to meet.I am guessing that the monitor was fantastic but the new 2K & 4K cause issues on some video cards. Not positive but just guessing. I never had a problem on 1920 x 1280. I only had problems on 2K &4K monitors. You be the judge. All in All, I will never buy Dell again as they don't believe in their products with a 1 year warranty. No thanks.Ver más
