Great part!
I’ve never done anything on my car and this was easy! Total part install was 10 minutes MAX and so far works great! Put the car on accessory mode. Take an Allen wrench (or equivalent) and push in the pin that’s on the left/back region of the ignition cylinder , then pull the ignition out. The new part slides right in. The hard part will be if the ignition is stuck in one mode as mine was. Mine was stuck in lock and you have to have it on accessory mode to make the switch. The goal became breaking the locking mechanism. I tried the hammer and screwdriver method (put flat screwdriver in ignition and hit with hammer), but that just bent things and made a mess. I ultimately ended up using a metal drill bit to drill out the middle of the ignition. Take off the casing first (broke it with vice grips) and then took the screw out, and then drill the entire middle out. Go slow and keep trying to see if it will turn. It took much further than I expected before breaking the locking mechanism, but I think it would have been less jammed if I’d started with the drill which is what I would do if I ever have to do it again. I’d drill below the key hole to try and keep the area clean and less jammed up with metal. Might work, might not, but that’s what I would do next time.Ver másVer menos
