Excellent Form of Calcium Plus D - Only Two Tablets 1X/day
I have been taking Calcium pills for over twenty years now, I have seen everything, from the days of horse-sized pills, with no Vitamin D ( D is sort of necessary, since your body will not process the Calcium without it.), to the various heated arguments about just what the precise and correct type of Calcium was that one should take, down to the ultimate battle of just what the precise correct dosage was - I have been there, I bear the battle scars proudly upon my body.One day, I was reading something online, and an ad popped-up, normally I ignore ads, but something about this caught my eye. Yes, it was yet another type of calcium, yoo-hoo! But something was different about this Citracal 1200 Slow-Release. As I read, I became more and more excited, I called my PCP to check on the verity of the claims made but Citracal .......it was true....the days, months, years, and decades of choking down a pill fit only for a mule, and at that - four times a day.... They were over, I was released from my bondage to the evil giant monster Calcium pills.These Citracal tablets are time-released, contain the appropriate amount of Vitamin D, , and......heavens to murgatroyd - one takes only two per day, at one time in the morning. Well, needless to say, my world has changed, little birds circle my head, twittering a merry tune as I stride purposefully down the street. My Bone Density Scans come back so perfect that my gynecologist dances in glee, and mentions the term "steel girders", as he frolics around my scans.These pills are not tiny, but they are so much better than anything that came before. I take them on an empty stomach in the morning, with no issues. Although, some have mentioned that they experience slight distress when taking these on an empty stomach, I never have. If one does, take the pills with food. I now have these on my Subscribe and Save list, and receive a few bottles every month or so.If you want to be strong and tall, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, I recommend these tablets. Should you just wish to be able to walk straight and tall down the street, no bounding, these will also take care of you.Why oh why did it take so long for single dose, time-release Calcium to reach our shores? Benefit with slow release CITRACAL!
If you are looking for the best calcium and vitamin D supplement as advised by your physician, this may be the one you want. Read the label carefully as all calcium tablets available are certainly not the same even if it is another Citracal product. The slow release 1200 is taken 2 caplets once daily! Citracal also makes a 1200 mg NOT slow release and is taken 2 caplets twice a day. I made this mistake, thinking what could be the difference other than lower price only to discover my lab resulted in a below desired level for calcium. In my case I just did not consistently get 2 caplets in twice a day. These slow release are still very large and not simple to swallow but managable and provided what was needed. Always ask your physician but I found these to be perfect and also strongly recommended by my MD. No after taste or odors. Plenty of D3 in the daily dose as well.Ver másVer menos

Appears my body is absorbing it well
It appears my body is absorbing this stuff well I say because the last 2 times I was tested for Calcium I came out ok. The second time I was tested (about 6months after the first time) my Calcium levels were slightly higher than the first times. Both times my levels came in healthy and that is very important to me because I am well past menopause and because I am on estrogen blockers due to an illness.I would not say these are "easy" to swallow. They're big. But all the calcium pills are big. These are about average for calcium pills, another reviewer has helpfully provided a photo. If you know swallowing is hard I suggest buying your calcium in a chewable form. Swallow these with a room temperature or cold drink, a hot one dissolves the coating making it harder to swallow.The packaging isn't great. The last two bottles in a row that I received had broken pills. I guess there's not enough cotton inside the bottle, maybe there's none. Also, it's a little irritating that these come in batches of 40. I am on subscribe and save which means by the end of an average month I have 10 pills and I am 20 short to make it to the end of the month, meaning I have to go buy another bottle from a drugstore which kind of defeats the purpose of subscribe and save. . . I can get them monthly, which I do, but by the 4th month I got 30 extra, and I dunno - - why the hassle? Why not package them in 30 or 60 or 90 increments? Or better, why not offer an option to get 2 of a thing via subscribe and save?As for flavor I rated it 3 out of 5 not to disparage the product but because it isn't flavored. It isn't flavorful. It doesn't taste awful. It's basically tasteless. It's not as sour as an aspirin, but it has about the same chalkiness. I think if you swallow it at once without letting it hang out in your mouth you won't taste anything at allVer másVer menos

Great Choice!
As per my doctor I have to take this exact amount of calcium every day pretty much for the rest of my life. Because of this I've tried several brands and have always hated that I had to space them apart and not just take the full dose at once. While I wish this was just one pill instead of two and I wish it was a soft gel instead of a large horse pill, I love that I can take them both at the same time and not have to think about it again that day. I take a lot of medication and supplements that have to be divvied up throughout the day which is very inconvenient and really easy to screw up. This makes it so I don't have to have another pill popping session added to the middle of my day. One (two at once) and done! I now have these on autoship.Ver másVer menos
