Greatest watch ever!
I love this watch! It is truly awesome. I wear it everyday at work. It fits perfectly on my wrist. The calculator is super handy and it keeps time well. Nice and durable. And just the right weight. Couldn’t recommend it more. And, bonus if you’re a Back to the Future fan!Ver másVer menos

A Blast from the Past: A Review of the Casio CA53W Vintage Series
I'm a huge fan of retro-style watches, and the Casio CA53W Vintage Series is a fantastic addition to my collection. This watch is a modern take on the classic Casio C-53, which was popular back in the80s and90s. Bought the first of three of these Casio calculator watches about 1984, when it came out!!! Bear in mind that for the next 16 years, I'd swim a mile several mornings each week and have this on my wrist to use to pace myself with. I wear it everywhere, to chop wood, throw axes, go sailing. It gets a real workout! I've always been amazed that the little guys take hits and keeping on ticking (in a manner of speaking!) It's by far the most durable watch that I've had. (I'm so rough on watches that I wear them on the inside of my wrist, Army-guard style.)In the 1984 original, clocked against WWV, gained 1.5 seconds per day, among the best of its day and sold for about $25. The battery lasted at least 5 years, better than any watch that I knew about!Today, they gain 0.5 seconds per day if you wear them about 16 hours per day & lose slightly if never worn. The battery probably does last 10 years, but I forget when I bought the watch before the battery wears out!The calculator is an excellent 8-digit one. When it overflows, the first clear only clears the overflow and leaves the digits, a feature that is very useful to those of us who might want to estimate the value of a logarithm in the middle of the woods, or find out what percentage a 4-terabyte drive will be under its nominal capacity in decimal. (Almost 10%!).So, over 30 years ago, I bought the first, bought two more for kids, two more for myself! The last is still running and is lost in the attic, or wall, or somewhere in the house. For almost a year now, we hear it beep at one minute before the hour!Contrary to some of the comments, if you carefully read the instructions for setting the time, you can set the watch to beep once on the hour! It's such a little beep that I never bothered to turn it off, even in church. Nobody seems to notice!But that's the only way that I've every had it off long enough to discover that it loses time when it cools down!Today, my fourth personal Casio arrived from Amazon and I'm looking forward to calibrating it! What I thought would just be a gimmick turned out to be more.
I always wanted one of these as a kid in the 90s. My father, who was a teen in late 70s and 80s was concerned that I would get made fun of at school because, not only were they more expensive back then, only super-geeks wore calculator watches when he was in school; I guess that still applied to the mid-to-late-90s as Casio Calculator Watches hadn't become old enough to be retro-chic yet. My friend, a 30-something exec, recently bought one and I was immediately reminded of how badly I wanted one as a kid and was ecstatic when he told me it was only $15.Upon first purchasing the watch, I felt that I would mostly just use it as a fashion statement more or less -- some kind of geek hipster I guess. But I use this thing all the time: Tips on food, BitCoin conversions, tallying my PostMates delivery totals, all kinds of daily math! I have a genuine need for the second time zone too, having relatives and family in another country and I use the stopwatch frequently to time things like workouts and bike rides as well as walking times to all the facilities I use on a daily basis so that I can find the fastest routes (I'm a big nerd, I know). I probably use this watch for something other than telling time around 10 times a day.I have an iPhone and, sure, I could do all the same things on the iPhone and more than this cheap little watch, but the watch is right there on my wrist! I don't have to take it out, unlock it, and find whatever app I need to use, I just turn my wrist and get straight into it. Sure, I could get an Apple Watch, but I don't see the need to spend $350 on what is essentially a second phone at this point in my life and many of the same problems that come from the complexity of so much versatility would still get in the way. And I can't imagine what using a calculator with such a tiny touch-screen would be like. Even if they're tiny, the Casio's buttons are physical, which goes a long way to being easy to press.If you are a fan of calculators, geeky things, cheap useful things, or Back to the Future and Marty McFly don't hesitate.This watch is fantastic. Casio was way ahead of their time in the late 70s and 80s, not with just this watch but all the fitness and calculator watches they produced. This is an icon of an era of extreme leaps in personal computing technology.Features:* Watch (either 12 or 24 hour) with day of the week indicator and toggle to see year, month and day* Basic Calculator supporting up to 8 digits and supporting addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, as well as basic exponents* Alarm (can also set an hourly chime from here)* Alternate timezone* Stopwatch: chimes every 10 minutes, can record multiple laps.PROS:+ Cheap!+ 5 functions: Clock, Calculator, Alarm, Alternate Timezone, Stopwatch+ Option to have watch chime on the hour+ Can technically multitask (run the stopwatch in the background while you use other functions)+ Durable and Water Resistent+ Alarm is a good volume+ Keeps precise time (I synced it to time.gov several days ago and it's still accurate to the precise second)+ Because of it's simplicity, it just works+ Surprisingly feature-full for such simple technology.CONS:- I personally wish the holes in the arm band were offset 50%. One hole is slightly too tight and the next is slightly too lose. That's just a nit-picky personal problem though.

An OCD comprehensive review
I'm not into giving allot of posts, so bear with me. I'm Obsessive Compulsive and very meticulous to things.Anyways I love this watch, because it has a nice retro charm to it. Im able to set it up very good thanks to YouTube videos.Got a nice Time/calculator/alarm/dual time/stop watch.About the Time:I give it 4/5 because of the time. The second to be precise. Everyday I look up timeanddate(.)com to see how accurate it portrays time. Everyday it is off by 1.2 seconds. So I'm always fidgeting about setting it every morning.The calculator:No complaints about it. I know it is small, so I know what to expect about it.I grown use to it in about a few days of using it. Tip: don't use your nails, according to a Reddit user you can leave a mark on the rubber.Alarm:Cool thing is it can have an alarm every hour. About 2.5seconds. if you set the alarm to a specific time it lasts 20 seconds. Any button can deactivate it.Dual time:Very good. The seconds are in sync with your main time so you can just set minute/hour. It doesn't display the date on the time zone. Just the hour.Stop watch:I was surprised that It can multitask stopwatch feature. I can have the stop watch running while I'm doing calculations of using the main time.Note: I found out that while in main time feature, if I press " ÷ " it brings out the date.Never mentioned in YouTube.Water resistant.I don't want to test it because I want to take care of it. I hear others take showers with it, though they never specify if they take hot showers.If I were to go swimming with it, might as well rinse it off fresh water. Take the chlorine or sea salt off of it.You can replace the battery, but I recommend you lubricate the gasket.I been thinking of replacing the band with a NATO to make it colorful, but I'm weighing the pros and cons that if I get it wet, it will be difficult to dry.I love the retro look of it. From the orange/yellow WR in the corner. The lines across the numbers. It makes me think of the delorean car from back to the future.I want to buy like 10 of these :)Remove the batteries and keep it in case they don't make production of them.I don't care about backlighting, because that will stress the battery of it.I would give it 4.5/5Because of the seconds issue. It's 1.2 seconds off.Other than that, this is a really great watch. Highly recommend it*Update on waterproofI worn it while taking a shower. And I mean a nice Hot Shower. It didn't steam up the screen or anything. I even pressed all the buttons while water splashed on it.

A Comfortable and Cool watch!
I got this watch with a dual purpose, one being I needed a watch for work and the other being I'm a big Back to the Future fan and when I found out they were selling Marty's watch I had to scoop it up. It doesn't disappoint! I'd recommend a YouTube tutorial for how to set the time and all that since the comprehensive instruction booklet it comes with can be a lot, but setting everything up is quick and painless and the band of the watch is as comfortable as the interface is easy. I wore this thing for the past month of working, and brought it on a trip through cold mountains with me, and it served me perfectly all the way through. I'll definitely be using it for a Marty McFly cosplay at some point too! All in all, huge recommend from me, I'd say it's the best watch I've ever had.Ver másVer menos
