'Imperial Presidency' is so aptly named.
This is a page turner. Stunning information written and so easy to. understand. The information appears to be quite factual and reinforces many of my opinions of the subject matter.An excellent read!! Am now reading her next book 'Confidence Man'. Excellent read.Ver másVer menos

Even if You Think You Know What's Going On...
When somene rails against the press as vociferously and incessantly as Donald Trump, you'd have to believe he has something to hide. You'd wonder, though, what exactly he has to hide given that practically his every move is public. This book uncovers what Trump most wants hidden: the cabal of sychophants who enable his governance by ignorance and the series of literally world-changing events and disasters that continue to unfold as a result of their and his unchallenged prejudices and resultant litany of missteps. Even if, as I do, you read the NY Times and Washington Post every day, you get a whole new understanding of what's going on when you see these events put together in this beautifully structured narrative. This is truly a piece of great writing that's beyond mere reporting, it's compelling reading.Ver másVer menos

Easy to read, entertaining and fascinating
First, this book is not just about Trump, it's so much more. The other important point to say right away is that this book is much easier to read than the NYT or other nonfiction, so you don't need to be a heavy duty intellectual as it's written in a conversational tone with every day vocab! You will find yourself entertained and engaged immediately. At times I've even laughed, though I realize it's not funny to be in our situation. This book will fill in the blanks from following daily news that sometimes doesn't tell the whole story. Ever wonder what happens on a Putin call? In meeting with key cabinet members discussing critical topics? Wonder what Musk was like when he interacted with others at the White House? Being a fly on the wall is something many of us would like and this book will take you there. You will not regret owning this book. Maybe this great reporting will even help save our republic. My local suburban library has hundreds on the waitlist, and I don't regret buying this book so I could read it right away. I really hope these two authors do a follow up book sometime in the future and they definitely deserve some kind of an award.Ver másVer menos

The first real inside look at the second Trump term
Unlike the first term, where insiders leaked details on a weekly, if not daily, basis and tell-all books were emerging consistently, the second Trump term has been remarkably tighter-lipped. This is the first real insider account of the second term, and it’s an indispensable read, filled with fascinating details from thousands of interviews.Until this book, I didn’t know that Elon Musk camped out in his DOGE-era office in a sleeping bag with his only brought-in belongings a gaming PC and monitor, nor did I know the reactions of other staffers to the “move fast and break things” ethos Musk brought to DOGE cuts. I’d never heard how Benjamin Netanyahu gifted his way back into Trump’s good graces or the grisly, golden gift he presented Trump with. And I definitely had no idea Stephen Miller was so heavily involved in writing policy, going so far as to suggest he could grant oil CEOs the authority to bypass the laws of physics if it only meant they’d drill during the Trump term.This account is by no means a hit piece; it’s just as prone to point out failings and oversights in the Obama and Biden administrations, such as Obama hiring Homan and deporting people en masse. The book’s subject focuses on the second Trump term, of course, so the criticism of other administrators is provided as context.Altogether, this book is an essential read to better understand what’s going on and to better appreciate the key players of this second term, from billionaire real estate buddies brokering peace deals to a four-year-old sitting in on top-level meetings.Ver másVer menos

Great work from two great reporters. Lots of information and tie bits for each story. Even if you knew, it great to read the way it happened.
