  Great tax software. I recommend.

  I buy all my tax software through the software center on Amazon. It's good to keep all your registration numbers in one place. They will never be misplaced and I've found that you can usually get software cheaper here than anywhere else, so it seems like a no-brainer. I like TurboTax because it's quick and easy. I can remember my father spending hours, sometimes days on his taxes (back before software.) It had to all be done with paper and a calculator. What a pain! TurboTax makes it so much easier it's laughable. I give this software 5 star for doing my taxes for me. I'm very grateful I don't have to do it all myself.Ver másVer menos

  I had a very bad experience with Turbotax this year that seems to have originated from a difficulty last year. I have been using turbotax for many years now and this year had to buy a new desktop computer with windows 11. I had my local computer shop transfer my files from my old hard drive to my new one. I paid $129 for TT deluxe which is now priced at $44. The download was very difficult as others have reported. It took an hour to get it downloaded. After I finally got it downloaded I started working on my taxes. All my info from last years taxes transferred over automatically. I was breezing along and completed my taxes in no time at all until I tried to e-file them. My screen said there was a problem because I did not file my 2024 federal taxes. But I received an email last year stating my taxes were received and accepted. But last year, after receiving this email, I did not receive my $10 refund that was supposed to be automatically sent to my bank. At the time, I figured it was only $10 dollars after Turbotax withdrew their fees, and I did not want to go through the hassle of dealing with them on the phone. Yesterday, after dealing with turbotax helpers for 3 hours on the phone, we decided it would probably be best to forget the e-file and just print my forms and mail them in. Below is another report by Tommy A which was very similar to my experience:DO NOT switch to the Online version even though it prompts you to try it for free, and tells you this is your only chance to do it for free, it will not be offered again. DON'T do it. I fell for it and went through the online version. It is terrible. I've been a TurboTax user for probably 30+ years. After paying to file electronically with the Online version, it would not go through. First, it tells me there was an error. When I try to fix the error, it told me it looks like I started but didn't file using TurboTax last year. Ummm, yes I did. I tried to transmit my returns again, but then when I would click the "Transmit Returns" button, nothing happened. No errors, no transmission, no change of the screen. I logged out, closed my browser, logged in again, went through all the finalization process again....same thing. I switched to desktop and it pulled everything over from the online, thank goodness. I transmitted via the desktop just fine. Except, I had to pay the fees all over again. Now, the desktop shows my returns submitted, but the online still says I need to submit. It's all attached to the same account. Then forget trying to get through to Intuit customer service. I finally did and the person was very nice. They sent me a form to submit for a refund, but the form basically says if they approve the refund that my software will be disabled. I don't want a refund for the software, I want a refund for the extra fees I was charged. looks like this 30+ year relationship with this software is coming to an end. Ultimately, this review is not about the desktop version, but is to warn you away from using the online.   Great Tax Software, works as intended, but this product is compatible with Windows 11 PC's Only!

  This product works as expected, and I used it to file my taxes earlier this year w/o problems on my secondary Windows 11 only machine. Luckily, I had a Windows 11 PC b/c computers are my livelihood so I have a few. Most people or families only have one PC or laptop per household, and the majority today are likely still using Windows 10.All that being said is to bring up a my only negative point for the 4 stars -- First off, apparently Intuit has stopped supporting Windows 10 for many of their products, including TurboTax. Many other companies are beginning to follow suite. Unfortunately I could not install it on my main Windows 10 PC which is where all my archived tax documents are kept. Not a huge deal, since I had a spare Win11 PC, but when I originally purchased I did not realize this product was explicitly Windows 11 only, and when I tried installing it under Windows 10, figuring surely it would be compatible, I was disappointed to see it wasn't -- with the product telling me within a couple minutes of installation, "Sorry, but this Intuit product is NOT compatible with Windows 10 O/S. Please install under Windows 11 devices only.", or something to that effect. I just wish there would have been a better description or clearer warning labels on the Intuit product download on Amazon, like "Works with Win11 Only!" or a big WARNING in all caps in the description letting users know THIS WAS A Windows 11 ONLY PRODUCT and it CANNOT be installed under Windows 10, period!Computers and Software are my career, I consider myself an expert after spending nearly 35 years of my life around them, and developing software on them, and this subtle difference went unnoticed by even me. There are still millions of Windows 10 machines in use out there today -- Even though Microsoft officially retired Windows 10 last October 2025 -- Unless of course you got on the Microsoft Windows ESU (Extended Security Updates) program last Fall like I did, basically extending the life of your Win10 PC for another year until this October 2026 with additional security updates -- which I am betting a lot of folks did in leui of purchasing a brand new Windows 11 laptop or desktop computer.Anyway, let this review kindly be an OFFICIAL warning to any non computer literate or otherwise casual computer users out there that are not fully aware of this little known fact -- While Windows 10 and Windows 11 ARE similar Operating Systems in many respects, under the covers they are still two very different Operating systems, and if a given product you are about to purchase doesn't explicitly state on the package or in its description that its compatible with Windows 10, do NOT EVER assume it is! Because you could be in a much worse off boat, and will not likely be able to return the software product once its been downloaded and/or opened. Fair warning.

  Clear & supportive--leads you steadily through all the facts you need to provide

  We have been using TurboTax for many years. Is this the best? Years ago, I tried a couple of the others, & they just were not as clear & steady in their questions & leading you through the completion of your information. I used to use this product as a way to collect all the information needed to give to my accountant. It was excellent for assembling & organizing all the facts. With a simpler income & investments picture in recent years, I no longer need my (pricey) accountant. TurboTax seems just as thorough, clear, and helpful.Today's TurboTax has a full integration with my financial institutions. All details including all investment values, dates & purchases are automatically loaded. TurboTax completely, automatically & accurately completes all the income & investment information for my tax return. A full range of States gives you one State return for free. With all the weird questions & criteria of various states, nowadays, I'm relieved to just answer a series of simple questions from TurboTax to get the return.We submit both returns automatically using the TurboTax product. The refunds or payments are handled directly with our checking account. This has been done completely reliably for many years.This is the product I recommend to my friends & family members.Ver másVer menos
