Razer’s Hall Effect Switches Are a Major Improvement
Razer has made adjustable-actuation keyboards before, but its previous analog Huntsman models relied on optical switches. This is its first real move into the Hall effect keyboard space, and the switch change is not just a spec-sheet distinction. These new magnetic switches feel noticeably smoother and less scratchy than the optical analog switches I have used in the past, especially when pressing a key slowly or typing for longer periods.They also retain a full 4.0mm range of travel, which is less common than I expected among Hall effect gaming keyboards. I can set a very shallow actuation point for movement keys in competitive games without making the entire board feel like a hair trigger. For typing, I prefer a deeper actuation and the full key travel because it feels more natural and gives me fewer accidental inputs. That flexibility makes the Huntsman V3 HE easier to live with as an everyday keyboard rather than something designed exclusively for ranked matches.Rapid trigger works as expected, resetting each key based on movement rather than waiting for it to return to a fixed reset point. In shooters, directional inputs feel crisp and immediate, particularly when rapidly stopping, strafing, or changing direction. Snap Tap can prioritize the newest input between two movement keys, while Snap Flex adds another way to activate commands based on releasing a key. These features will matter most to serious FPS players, but the adjustable actuation is useful even outside competitive gaming.The 8000Hz polling rate gives the keyboard plenty of performance headroom. I cannot pretend the jump from an already fast gaming keyboard is transformative in every game, but inputs feel consistently immediate, and there is no sense that the keyboard is holding anything back. It is also possible to store multiple profiles, which is useful when I want aggressive gaming settings without using those same settings while typing or programming.I generally like the 65% layout because it leaves much more space for the mouse while retaining dedicated arrow keys. It is compact enough for an FPS setup without feeling as restrictive as a 60% board, although anyone who regularly uses the function row, navigation cluster, or numpad should expect a period of adjustment. The secondary functions are manageable, but they are still secondary functions.Build quality is appropriately solid for the price. The aluminum top case gives the board a sturdy feel, the doubleshot PBT keycaps have a pleasant texture, and the detachable USB-C cable makes it easier to pack or replace the cable later. The switches sound and feel much more refined than Razer’s earlier analog optical boards, though this is still a gaming keyboard rather than a heavily dampened custom mechanical board.At $120, this is competitively priced for a Hall effect keyboard from a major gaming brand, especially with 8000Hz polling, rapid trigger, adjustable actuation, onboard profiles, and a full 4.0mm travel range. The real improvement for me is not one headline feature but how much better these magnetic switches feel. They are fast enough for competitive play, smooth enough to enjoy, and versatile enough that I can type on the keyboard all day without wishing I had switched back to a conventional mechanical board.Ver másVer menos

This review is for the Razor Huntsman HE Magnetic mini 65% keyboard.I was a bit hesitant to try this due to the magnetic switches, as I’ve grown quite fond of brown mechanical switches. While I still prefer my old mechanical switches, I was surprised to find that I really don’t mind this type at all. At first the switches felt super sensitize, but I was able to adjust the actuation up to 2mm in the software and they feel very good after that. It’s quite cool to be able to adjust this.The backlighting is quite good and has all the common adjustments and modes. They can be controlled in Razor chroma as well as a few other softwares.This is the first 65% keyboard I’ve had, and I love how tiny it is on my desk. If you have a small or cluttered desk it’s a must have! The only downside is that I no longer have F-keys so for MMOs I would need to remap a few keybinds. The Function keys can still be accessed via the fn key modifier but that’s not easily usable in games due to being a bit awkward.The keyboard is not wireless, which is fine by me as I never use keyboards that way. It just uses USB-c; it comes with a nice braided cable but I also have a pile of my own which worked too.The tops of the keys have a very slight texture to them, which was not something I expected, and I do appreciate. They don’t have the gloss smooth plastic feeling that is common on other keyboards.The one downside: you are going to need the razor synapse app, which is a bit bloated with a subpar UI. I already have it installed for my razor MMO mice, so I’m familiar with the software, but it can still be miserable trying to find things in synapse. It’s annoying that synapse and chroma are separate apps.Overall, I really love the keyboard. The defining feature is the razor Hall effect magnetic keys, so any decision should be based on whether you want these keys or conventional mechanical keys.Ver másVer menos

Fast, compact and sounds nice!
Great little 68% keyboard. Razer has made great improvements on their keyboards. This one is a hall effect one and they have also tunned the lube on the switches and the padding/noise dampening, compared to previous Razer keyboards, this one does sound nice and thocky, no pinging metallic sounds!The keyboard is a 68%, which I do like compared to previous mini Razer keyboards that were only 60%, this one is more useful and versatile, as it retains the arrow keys. They keyboard has tons of alternate functions and key combinations (like if you press fn+ the number keys, you get your F keys), so they were nice enough to also provide a nice compact card where you can see all the combinations on the fly. You can configure lots of gaming functions just on the go to with those key combos (like enabling snap tap, and their new snap flex feature), however if you install their Synapse software, you can further customize it. It has several pre customized presets, like FPS, Racing etc. You can change the keys actuation since they are magnetic.The RGB is also tasteful and not super bright like on your face. The only CONS I could see is there was no wrist rest and/or dust cover included, I think this would have completed the package and give greater value for the price, considering there is tons of HE keyboards out there that come with those.Ver másVer menos

I have tested dozens of mechanical and magnetic keyboards over the past few years, and this 65 percent board quickly became my go-to choice for fast-paced shooters. The physical build quality feels extremely solid thanks to the rigid aluminum top plate, and the compact layout frees up desk space for sweeping mouse movements. The magnetic Hall Effect switches feel smooth, and the ability to customize actuation points down to a razor-thin point gives you an instant edge in reaction time. Features like Rapid Trigger and Snap Tap make counter-strafing feel almost effortless compared to standard mechanical switches found on typical boards. The textured keycaps feel fantastic and show zero signs of wear or oily shine after long gaming sessions. The companion software is surprisingly straightforward to use, allowing you to easily tweak actuation settings and customize the vibrant RGB lighting effects without a steep learning curve. While the true 8000Hz polling rate requires a capable computer processor to run efficiently, the near-zero input latency makes every keystroke feel lightning fast. The keys are spaced comfortably so the compact frame never feels cramped during intense matches. The detachable USB-C cable makes packing it up for tournaments very convenient. I loved how the board is heavy enough and grippy enough to stay planted on the desk without sliding around. Compared to larger magnetic boards, this option offers a much smaller and cleaner footprint while delivering superior movement precision. Maybe im ready to give Razer another chance
The Razer Huntsman V3 HE Magnetic Mini keyboard is the latest addition to their Hall Effect Magnetic keyboard lineup. If you haven't been keeping up with keyboard technologies, compared to traditional keyboard switches made by companies like Cherry, they are now utilizing magnets and lasers to create a much more responsive key press reducing latency and allowing for customizable key actuation based on the users preference. I am a hobbyist with keyboard tech, where I have built a good variety of keyboards with DIY kits, customized some of my own, and tend to go out of my way to try new technologies. This is my third time trying a Hall Effect keyboard, with my first being the Steelseries Apex Pro ( with HyperMagnetic switches) and the original Razer Huntsman.I didn't hold onto either of those keyboards very long as at the time they were very expensive compared to their traditional counterparts. They also didn't wow me out of the box with their switch technology. Keypresses felt weak, as if there was no feedback to register that I had hit a key. It also took a lot of tweaking to get them to what I would consider a usable state with accurate typing. Which leaves me with the new Razer Huntsman, where I am happy to report it doesn't share any of these problems.The recent revisions have made many changes, improving the texture on the keycaps, the sound of the keypresses, the out of box actuation is exactly what I want, and the 8khz polling is probably helping with how responsive the keys feel. I generally use full size keyboards as I like to have a numpad, but the feel of this keyboard is winning me over to make it my daily driver away from my Mountain Everest Max with Cherry Blues. Lubed Holy Panda switches are the only ones I own that might feel a little bit better than these, but the overall responsiveness of these HE Magentics is something I haven't had the pleasure of experiencing before.My closing statement will be that I started my PC peripheral journey with Razer back when they released the first Blackwidow keyboard & OG Razer Naga. I have watched their products go through sharp declines, and had a time of regret after recommending them to several friends and watching their mice break down on them within a year each. I am hesitant to recommend them again due to the many issues I have had across a few years before ultimately moving away from their products entirely. I will update this review if I encounter any issues with the keyboard as I daily drive it.Post note: I forgot to mention Synapse in this review, as I don't really want to use it. I will add it in if I change my mind but luckily the keyboard works fine without it. Windows Dynamic Lighting isn't working with the keyboard out of the box but I know of other 3rd party software that used to work with Razer that I preferred. After one pop up the Razer software installer hasn't appeared again which is nice.

Smooth and lightning-fast!
My son and I are both loving this keyboard.My son's Huntsman Mini has seen a lot of use over the years, and we both love mechanical keyboards. He's using his for gaming, and I use mine primarily for normal office work. Having said that, I venture back into the gaming world occasionally.I am VERY impressed with both how smooth the keystrokes are, and how quick the responses are. My son is obsessed - I've let him borrow it and it is like pulling teeth to get it back!The keyboard is compact, and is packed with the atypical features you'd expect from Razer or a gaming keyboard in general. There is a noticeable difference in both audible and tactile feedback, but not in a bad way - This still feels like a mechanical keyboard, but almost feels faster to use, even for just normal typing.My son loves it for his FPS games, and the responsiveness I see in both normal use and when playing FPS and flight/fighter jet dogfighting games is remarkable.If you are a PC gamer (or even if you're connecting to a console), and are looking for a smaller form-factor keyboard, you won't be disappointed with this one.Ver másVer menos
