This is a really good Wi-Fi 7 adapter and does work with old PC's and somewhat older routers that only support Wi-Fi 6.I have a quite old (ok, very old) PC that is not easy to reach with an Ethernet cable due to location, but this adapter worked perfectly on it, attaches quickly with no dropouts, and gave me speeds better than I had anticipated due to its old age and it being only USB 3.0 capable. At some point I'll get a better PC, so this adapter is "future-proof" for me.And I am very happy with the test results; 620 Mbps Download, 42 Mbps Upload, using Speedtest.My internet is 1 Gb service, and I use a TP-Link AX-6600 Router. Ethernet-connected speeds are usually 850-950 Mbps.If using Windows 10, you do have to download a driver for it from the TP-Link website, but the download was free and easy. When I first plugged it in, Windows 10 identified it as a CD Drive (!!), but installing the driver corrected that immediately. NOTE that the product name is "TBE400U Plus" when searching the TP-Link website.VERY IMPORTANT:If, like me, you use a home network with "Whitelist" MAC filtering, you will need to disable "MAC Randomization" in the adapter hardware configuration, as follows:Open "Control Panel" -> Network and Sharing Center -> Left side, "Change Adapter Settings" -> Right-Click on the TP-Link Adapter shown there, choose "Properties" -> click "Configure" button -> choose "Advanced" tab -> click on the "Mac Randomization" entry, choose "Disable" to the right -> click "OK".This keeps the MAC address at the factory default value, so your router doesn't block it when it cycles to a new value.(This had me pulling my hair out until I figured out why that was happening.)Then retrieve that default MAC address to add to your router's Whitelist:Open Windows "Settings" -> Network & Internet -> click Wi-Fi tab on the left -> click Hardware Properties on the right. The address is shown as "Physical address (MAC)" -> copy that address to your router Whitelist.I definitely recommend this product, and the price is fair given what you get.Ver másVer menos

Future-proofed My Desktop With An Absolutely Phenomenal Network Adapter
This new TBE400U Plus network adapter from TP-Link is the most advanced USB adapter I've ever used. Even though I don't have a router that can currently handle MLO, I'm already getting a fantastic upgrade to my older wifi setup. This USB adapter has support for Wifi 7 and can handle up to almost 6500Mbps using all 3 wireless bands. It has a high-gain antenna that can be angled to get a better signal (or a better fit wherever it is setup) and I'm having no issues getting fantastic throughput (really close to a full gig connection through one wall) and a bit better when I move into the same room as my router.Setup was easy as the device will open a virtual CD upon insertion to deliver a needed driver. I would be happier if this USB adapter played well with Linux and Mac, but I couldn't get any success there. It's only a small issue, because I already wanted to have my main Windows desktop running the fastest to serve high definition video files over our network and this adapter has no problem pushing quite a few HD streams simultaneously. Moving files are at least twice as fast as I was used to getting! I'm glad that this adapter supports WPA3, MLO, 4K-QAM, and OFDMA so I have the most future-proof wifi device I can get for now while also supporting some of the latest technologies to get the fastest connection possible.Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with this Tri-Band USB 3.0 Wi-Fi 7 Adapter from TP-Link. It's a great little adapter that doesn't take up a lot of room (just several inches of antenna) and supports all the latest features from Wi-Fi 6 and 7 I need to get the most throughput possible, especially MLO when my router supports it. I got this adapter when it was priced at $89.99 and feel like I'm getting phenomenal value for what it provides. Absolutely recommended for anybody looking to get as much throughput for gaming, streaming, or moving files as they can.Ver másVer menos

Finally Wi-Fi 7 on My Work Laptop
I picked this adapter up because my work laptop doesn’t have built-in Wi-Fi 7, and I wanted to see if upgrading would noticeably improve wireless performance.The first thing you’ll notice is the antenna. It’s huge—just under seven inches long—and that’s actually a good thing. During testing I had excellent range. I was able to walk well out into the parking lot and still transfer files from my home server without losing the connection. Signal strength was at least as good as my laptop’s built-in adapter, and in some locations it actually appeared to be a little better.The antenna is also adjustable, making it easy to position for the best reception. In my testing, keeping it roughly vertical produced the best results.Installation was surprisingly simple. Instead of requiring you to download drivers beforehand, the adapter presents itself as a USB flash drive containing the driver package. Windows automatically opens it, making installation almost effortless. It’s a clever solution that eliminates the need to hunt down drivers before you can get online. That said, I’d still recommend downloading the latest drivers from TP-Link afterward since the included ones may eventually become outdated.Connecting to my Wi-Fi 7 router was completely painless. The adapter immediately negotiated a Wi-Fi 7 connection, and I never experienced any connection drops or instability during testing.To test performance, I copied a roughly 50 GB file from my file server using SCP and ultimately transferred several hundred gigabytes over the course of my testing. The connection remained completely stable throughout. Actual transfer speeds were respectable, but not quite as high as I was expecting from a Wi-Fi 7 adapter. It wasn’t slow by any means, but I had hoped to see a larger improvement over my laptop’s built-in wireless.For normal Internet use, however, the adapter was never the limiting factor. My ISP connection topped out long before the adapter did, so web browsing, streaming, downloads, and general everyday use all worked exactly as expected.Even after transferring several hundred gigabytes of data, the adapter was only slightly warm to the touch. Heat never appeared to be an issue.Out of curiosity, I also tried it on macOS and Linux systems. As expected, there are no drivers available for those operating systems, so I wasn’t able to use it there. This is very much a Windows-focused product.Overall, this is a solid Wi-Fi 7 USB adapter with excellent reception, easy installation, and stable operation. While I didn’t see the dramatic speed increase I had hoped for during large file transfers, it performed reliably throughout my testing and was easy to get up and running. If you’re looking to add Wi-Fi 7 support to a Windows PC without opening the computer, this is an easy way to do it.

Fixed my dead spot and tripled my speeds on the far end of the house
My desktop sits out in the shop office which is about as far from the router as you can get in this house, and the old adapter I had was crawling and dropping out constantly. Plugged this one in and it was night and day. Installation was easy, Windows picked it up, I loaded the driver off the little stick and I was online in a couple minutes, no fighting with it. The speed jumped way up, I am pulling most of what my internet plan offers now where before I was lucky to get a third of it. Ease of use has been great since, it just connects on boot and I never think about it. The functionality is solid, the tri band and the newer WiFi 7 give it more lanes to work with so streaming, video calls, and gaming do not stutter even on the far end of the house. There is some good versatility too, it has a little cradle on a cable so you can stand the antenna up on the desk for a better line instead of buried behind the tower, and I could move it to my laptop just as easy. Build feels good, not a cheap flimsy dongle. For what it fixed, the value for money is excellent, no complaints, solid upgrade.Ver másVer menos

Huge Improvement for Gaming in Our Large Home
We live in a 4,000 square foot house, and WiFi coverage has always been a challenge, especially for my son's gaming setup. He was constantly complaining about lag, high ping, and random connection drops during online matches.
