This serum has truly impressed me, and I wanted to put into words why it’s such a powerful tool in my routine.For context, I’m in my early 40s, and like many in my demographic, I’m dealing with fine lines, wrinkles, and, most frustratingly, enlarged pores that have become more visible due to skin laxity and sagging. I’ve tried many products, but the results from this one have been unmatched.Here is a breakdown of why this serum is so effective, using the proper terms for its potent ingredients:What’s in the Secret Sauce? (The Ingredients Breakdown)1. Retinal & 4X Retinoid Complex: This is the core engine. You’ve heard of retinol, but Retinal (Retinaldehyde) is even more potent. It converts into the active form of Vitamin A much faster than traditional retinol, making it highly efficient at stimulating collagen synthesis and increasing skin cell turnover. This translates directly to smoother skin texture and a noticeable reduction in the look of fine lines and wrinkles.2. Volufiline (5%): This patented ingredient is what handles the "Volume Booster" part of the name. As we age, we lose facial volume, leading to sagging. A Little Goes a Long Way — Promising Retinal Treatment Without the Irritation
I was interested in trying Medicube’s Vita A Retinal Volume Booster because it combines two ingredients that have been getting a lot of attention lately: retinal and Volufiline. I currently use adapalene, and while it has been fine as a retinoid, I was interested in trying something a little different and more targeted toward fine lines, firmness, and areas where I’d like a little more volume.There are some pretty wild claims floating around online about Volufiline and what it can supposedly do. I certainly can’t say this cream has magically plumped everything up or restored lost volume, but I also haven’t been using it nearly long enough to fairly judge those kinds of results. Retinoids aren’t exactly an overnight situation either, so I’m looking at this as something that needs time.The product itself comes out a bright yellow-orange color, and that color remains somewhat visible as you blend it into the skin. Interestingly, I actually like that. It gives the areas where I apply it a little immediate brightness, which makes my skin look slightly less dull and tired even before any long-term benefits would be possible.So far, I’ve mostly been using this underneath my eyes and around my marionette lines rather than immediately applying it everywhere. I’m taking it slowly because it is a retinal product, and I would much rather gradually increase my use than irritate my skin. So far I’ve had no redness, sensitivity, excessive dryness, or other irritation.One thing worth mentioning is how little you actually need. I’ve seen people online applying enormous strips of this across their faces, but that is definitely not how I’m using it. The amount shown in the product instructions is tiny—roughly a grain of rice or even less for an area—and that has been plenty for me. I use about that much around my eyes and another small amount around my marionette lines. It spreads surprisingly well.That also makes the small tube a much better value than it initially appears. You don’t receive a huge amount of product, but you’re also not supposed to slather it on like moisturizer. At the appropriate amount, I can see this tube lasting quite a while.I’m encouraged by it so far. I like the formula, I like the subtle immediate brightening effect, and most importantly, my skin has tolerated it very well while I’ve been introducing it gradually. It’s simply too early for me to make claims about significant wrinkle reduction or actual volume changes. I’m hopeful that with consistent use I’ll see more of those longer-term benefits, and I’ll update my review if I do.

Another Hit From Medicube - Love This!
I'm already using a prescription retinoid, so I didn't buy this expecting it to replace that. Instead, I was interested in the supporting ingredients—especially the Volufiline—and I have to say, I really like this product.First, let's clear up the marketing. The "volume" claims should be taken with realistic expectations. This isn't going to restore lost facial fat or erase years of aging. If you're expecting filler-like results, you'll be disappointed. What I did notice was a subtle, temporary plumping effect that made my skin look a little fresher and gave it a healthy glow. It's one of those products where your skin simply looks well-rested the next morning.The retinoid blend is actually well thought out. The formula contains 1,500 ppm retinal along with a 4-retinoid complex. Retinal (retinaldehyde) is one step closer to retinoic acid than traditional retinol, so it generally works more efficiently while still being available without a prescription. Retinoids remain one of the best-studied ingredients for improving fine lines, uneven texture, and overall skin quality over time.The ingredient that caught my attention is Volufiline (5%). This is a cosmetic ingredient derived from a plant extract that has become popular in Korean skincare because it's marketed to improve the appearance of volume. The research behind it is limited compared to retinoids, and I wouldn't expect dramatic structural changes, but I do think it can provide some superficial plumping and make the skin look a little fuller temporarily. That's exactly how it performed for me.The formula also includes niacinamide, which can help brighten skin, strengthen the skin barrier, and improve overall tone over time. Having niacinamide alongside retinal is a nice combination because it can help support the skin while you're using a more active ingredient.Because I'm already using prescription tazarotene, I don't apply this every day. I use it on my non-prescription nights, and it's been an easy addition to my routine without causing extra irritation.Who might love this? Anyone looking for a well-rounded anti-aging product who isn't ready for prescription-strength retinoids. If you're interested in improving fine lines, texture, and adding a little extra hydration and temporary plumpness, this is a solid option.Who might want to skip it? If you're already using a strong prescription retinoid every night, you probably don't need another retinoid product layered on top. Also, if you're expecting Volufiline to produce dramatic facial volume restoration, that's simply not what this product does.Overall, I think Medicube did a nice job balancing proven ingredients with some newer cosmetic technologies. The retinal gives this formula a strong scientific foundation, while the Volufiline adds a nice cosmetic boost that makes the skin look a bit plumper and healthier. It's not a miracle in a tube, and it won't turn back the clock, but it leaves my skin looking smooth, hydrated, and just a little more refreshed the next morning.

Effective ingredients, yellow hue
This product is easy to put on and hydrates your skin very fast. It has great ingredients for fine lines and wrinkles . These ingredients help to lessen signs of aging over time.I took off one star because the product has a yellow hue that does not go away as you rub it into your skin. Your skin will not look yellow unless you put on a lot which you're not supposed to do anyway. However if you want to sleep with this on you will wake up and see yellow residue on your pillow. Even though the packaging says it's to apply in the evening for me it's not ideal because of the staining of the pillow case. I apply it in the morning under my makeup and that's the only effective time that I could do it.I recommend this product because of the ingredients and because it hydrates your skin fast however sleeping with it on is an issue for me maybe other people won't mind.Ver másVer menos

Medicube Vita A Retinal Volume Booster - creamy, well formulated serum.
The Medicube Vita A Retinal Volume Booster is essentially a retinoid treatment wrapped in a rich, barrier supporting cream.The trendy "Volufiline" ingredient excites me less than the retinal itself. Volufiline is currently being marketed almost like a topical filler, but the evidence behind dramatic volume restoring claims is limited, and I would expect subtle cosmetic plumping at most. The retinal is where I see the more compelling anti-aging potential.This contains 0.15% retinal and uses a multi-retinoid approach with four different vitamin A derivatives. I also really appreciate how much attention Medicube put into the rest of the formula instead of simply delivering retinoids in a bare bones base. There are plenty of hydrating, soothing, and barrier supporting ingredients, including glycerin, niacinamide, panthenol, macadamia oil, cholesterol, allantoin, adenosine, squalane, and centella. Centella is one of my favorite ingredients for calming my sensitive skin, while glycerin is a favorite for hydration.The texture is a thick, nourishing cream with a yellow tint. The color disappears as I pat it into my skin, and despite the richness, it absorbs fairly quickly and leaves my dry skin feeling soft rather than tight or stripped. That's particularly important to me with retinoids, since I don't want an anti-aging treatment that leaves my skin barrier feeling wrecked in the process.My one caveat is the inclusion of bitter orange and jasmine oils. My facial skin is exceptionally sensitive to fragrance, and I occasionally notice some mild itchiness after applying this. Interestingly, the product itself barely smells fragranced to me - there's just a very faint citrus scent - so I personally would have preferred Medicube to leave those ingredients out altogether.For my particular skin, I slightly prefer Arencia's Retinal Booster because its combination of retinal, bakuchiol, peptides, ceramides, ectoin, centella, and panthenol works great for me without added fragrant oils or any irritation. That's more about my individual sensitivity than a problem with Medicube's formula, though.This is still an impressively formulated retinal treatment. It's moisturizing enough for my very dry skin, and it contains a genuinely interesting combination of retinoids and supportive skincare ingredients. For someone without my extreme facial fragrance sensitivity, I think it's an excellent anti-aging booster.

5 stars for the formula, with the retinal being the real standout.
This is one of the more interesting anti-aging serums I have seen because the formula does not rely on a tiny amount of retinol just to put the ingredient on the label. It contains 0.15% retinal, along with 5% Volufiline, a four-retinoid complex, and micro-spicules designed to help with the appearance of fine lines, pores, firmness, and skin texture.-0.15% RetinalThis is the ingredient I like most.The simple way to think about it is that retinal (RET-in-ahl) is closer than retinol (RET-in-ol) to active retinoic acid. (FYI: Prescription tretinoin is the pure retinoic acid form the skin ultimately uses). At 0.15%, this is a fairly serious retinal formula rather than something I would consider an entry-level retinoid.-5% VolufilineMedicube uses 5% Volufiline and markets it for improving the appearance of plumpness and firmness, particularly in areas that may look hollow or less full with age. I have been using Volufiline from The Ordinary, and this ingredient does work! (Just don’t expect injection-level differences).-Four-Retinoid Complex and Micro-SpiculesThe serum also combines four retinoids with very small spicules. Medicube says the micro-spicules are intended to improve the appearance of pores, elasticity, firmness, and texture.Pros• Strong 0.15% retinal concentration• 5% Volufiline makes the formula more interesting than a basic retinal serum• Includes a four-retinoid complexCons• Probably not the retinal product I would choose as a very first retinoid• The micro-spicules may feel unusual on sensitive skin• Leaves a yellow residue when it is wet or has not been fully absorbed-Overall * * * * *I think this is a very interesting anti-aging serum, particularly because of the 0.15% retinal concentration.The retinal is what gives me the most confidence in the formula. The 5% Volufiline and micro-spicule technology make it more unique, but I consider those supporting features rather than the main attraction.
