Finally, my joycons stay put, and don't move. Much better than the original plastic parts.
I got my Switch used, and the Joy-Cons never locked in place properly. It was incredibly frustrating to be playing a game, only to have it stop, and tell me to reconnect the Joy-Con.These metal buckles completely solved the problem. The Joy-Cons now click into place, with a nice reassuring sound and feel, and they're rock solid. There's no movement anymore, and I haven't had a single disconnect since installing them. I've only been using them for a few days, so I can't comment on long-term durability. yet, but my first impression has been excellent.Installation is very straight forward. If you search for "Joy-Con buckle lock replacement", you'll find an excellent step-by-step guide, with lots of pictures. Just take your time when opening the Joy-Con, because there is a delicate ribbon cable inside. The hardest part, is removing the small metal retainer, that sits over the lock buckle. It's easy to bend, if you're not careful. I found that using the included tweezers, as a wedge, it made them easier to remove. This kit included both the tri-wing screwdriver needed to open the Joy-Con, and a Phillips screwdriver for the internal screws (which are probably JIS). The screwdrivers themselves are low quality, and one of mine had a bent shaft, but they still worked fine for the job.One of my replacement bucklets left a tiny gap between it and the Joy-Con shell (see my picture), while the other one fit perfectly. The gap didn't affect operation at all, and appears to be nothing more than normal manufacturing tolerance. I only ended up filing the buckle slightly with my rotary tool, because I had already reopened the Joy-Con, after realizing I had accidentally swapped two screws during reassembly. Even before I touched it, it worked perfectly, so I wouldn't consider this a defect.Overall, I think these are a worthwhile upgrade over the original plastic lock buckles. The metal buckles provide a much more more solid lockup, and considering how common worn plastic buckles seem to be, I'd recommend them even if your originals haven't failed yet. If your Joy-Cons are already loose, or disconnecting during gameplay, then these are an easy recommendation.Ver másVer menos
