Interesting capture card...that can also be a dock...
This is a bit of an interesting capture card in that most capture cards that I've used are designed to take an HDMI input (and then can have a passthrough, output for the capture device, etc.). This card instead acts as something of a combination capture card and USB-C dock, where it takes a USB-C input / attachment to the device you want to capture FROM (which it can also charge if you connect a charger / power cable to the capture card (charger is not included). Then it takes that USB-C input and converts it to HDMI (up to 4K 60Hz on the passthrough - not the recording). So you can actually use this just as a dock and it works well in that regard - you plug this in and you get HDMI out of your USB-C device and you can charge it at the same time. But then you can also get the capture of the video out of the USB-A port on the device. Capture seems to work well with OBS, and you can choose between 1080P 60hz and 4K 30Hz resolution / refresh rates. So you're getting two devices for one - a dock and a capture card!I DO wish that they included a USB cable that can be used for the capture device - you can use nearly any USB 3 cable (though that's the trick, you have to find a USB-A 3.0 cable where the other end is something you can plug into the PC that will be recording - I was able to find a USB-A to C 3.0 cable and use a USB-C equiped PC for recording). This is important because you need the extra capacity / speed of USB-C to capture video at the higher resolutions / refresh rates. Once I did find the right cable setup, it was plug and play easy.Outside of this slight oversight, this is a very handy device to have around particularly since it can be a dual use device that is still very compact, well-built and easy to use. Works well with OBS but the short attached cable limits placement
I have been using this capture card with OBS, and it has worked very well for me. Setup was straightforward, and OBS recognized the video feed without giving me much trouble. For what I wanted, which was getting a clean 1080p capture into a computer, it has been dependable and easy to use.One thing worth understanding before buying is how the connections are arranged. The computer where the capture takes place connects through USB-A. The attached USB-C connection is used on the source side, which makes sense for the portable devices this is designed around. That setup is convenient if you are connecting something like a handheld gaming device or another USB-C video source.The part I am less enthusiastic about is the permanently attached USB-C cable. It is only about four inches long, so there is not much flexibility when positioning the capture card. Depending on where the ports are located on your device and how your desk is arranged, the short cable can leave the capture card hanging or sitting in an awkward spot. I would have preferred a removable USB-C cable so I could choose the length that worked best for my setup. A replaceable cable would also be easier to deal with long term if the cable were ever damaged.There is also a USB-C power input on the unit, but a power cable is not included. If your particular setup requires external power, you will need to provide your own USB-C power source and cable. That was not a major problem for me, but it is something I would want to know ahead of time rather than discovering it during setup.The video capture I am getting is 1080p, not 4K capture. The 4K specification applies to the HDMI passthrough capability rather than the recorded video resolution. That distinction can be easy to miss if you are mainly looking at the 4K labeling. For my use with OBS, 1080p capture is perfectly suitable, and the resulting video has performed well.The unit itself is compact, and the ports are clearly arranged. Having HDMI passthrough, USB connectivity, and a separate power input in such a small device makes it useful for a portable capture setup. My main reservation is the very short fixed USB-C lead. As long as 1080p recording meets your needs and the cable length works with your equipment, it does its job well.Ver másVer menos

Great capture card

Sister in law loves it for her streaming setup.
Bought this as a gift for my sister in law, who does regular streaming and needed a capture card that would slot into her existing setup without a lot of fuss. She's happy with it, which after a few weeks of use is the honest answer to whether this thing works or not. When someone actually streaming with a piece of equipment gives it a thumbs up rather than the usual list of workarounds and complaints, that's the review that counts.The 4K 60Hz passthrough is what sold her on this one over the cheaper options in the same category. She can play at full quality on her end while capturing to her stream at 1080p 60fps, which is the sweet spot for most streaming platforms right now. Trying to stream at higher resolutions eats bandwidth and viewer connection stability, so the 1080p capture with proper 4K passthrough is the practical choice for someone who actually broadcasts to an audience rather than just recording for herself. The low latency claim held up in her testing too, which matters a lot for anything reactive she's playing.Compatibility with the Switch 2, Steam Deck, ROG Ally, and Legion handhelds is legitimately useful given how much of her content rotates across those platforms. The portable dock design means she can move it between setups without the wiring drama some capture solutions require, and the build quality feels appropriate for something that's going to travel between rooms and get plugged in and out regularly.Five stars because the recipient loves it, the specs deliver as advertised, and it earned its place in her streaming kit right away. Works great, need uncommon cable or a change
I absolutely love this capture device. It works flawlessly with OBS, however the one major flaw is that the ONLY port on the device that can be used to the capture target (the computer where the capture will take place) is a USB-A port. So since many people have a desktop or laptop computer with a USB-A port, the only solution in that case is to get a USB-A to USB-A (male-to-male) cable, and this device doesn't come with any cables. I had to buy one in order to test this out. Now it would be nice if the capture device came with one, but it would be even better if the capture port was USB-C, because everyone has a USB-A to USB-C cable, if not TONS of them lying around.That being said, I'd also change the source cable (the device you are recording video from) from being a relatively short dongle to being another USB-C port. This would allow a much longer cable, and not force you to move the capture device to whatever you're capturing from. I do love that it also charges my device while it's plugged in, because I have the USB-C power plugged in -- I'm not sure if it'll work without that, I didn't try because I wouldn't really expect anything like this to work without power.That being said, it's light, it's easy to use, and it's super easy to store. One of my review photos shows a cable - that was just for reference but that's the one I had to purchase separately in order for this to work. The second image is video capture on OBS from my Steam Deck. It worked flawlessly, and I'll definitely be using this quite a bit!Ver másVer menos

Simple setup and good quality.
I tested this capture card with both my Steam Deck and Switch 2, and it worked great with no issues. JSAUX has a solid reputation in the accessories space, and this lives up to that. Recorded output came through at 1080p with great quality, and I did not notice any added lag while gaming through the passthrough, so it's absolutely usable for live play, not just recording.There was a little input lag noticeable on the recording side, meaning if you're watching the capture feed itself rather than the direct display, expect a slight delay. Beyond that, it is a nice, compact option to have on hand, whether you want a dedicated capture card for streaming or just a portable travel dock for the Switch.
