Finally, a travel hub that just works.
I've used a lot of inexpensive, no-name USB-C hubs over the years. In my experience, they never quite do everything they claim to do. There always seems to be something that doesn't work correctly, whether it's the video output, charging, or random disconnects.A while back, I replaced the two docking stations I use at home with Plugable products, and for the first time, everything just worked. Because of that, when I decided I wanted a small travel hub to keep in my laptop bag, I wasn't really interested in trying another bargain brand.This is exactly what I was looking for.I use it with my Dell Latitude laptop at work. It gave me an HDMI output for a second monitor, enough USB ports for my keyboard, mouse, and flash drive, and everything worked immediately. No drivers, no troubleshooting, no wondering why one feature wasn't working. It was truly plug and play.I didn't test the pass-through charging because my laptop has a second USB-C port that I use for power, but everything else worked exactly as expected.Compared to my full-size Plugable docking station, this obviously doesn't have nearly as many ports or capabilities. It also costs about one-tenth as much. That's the point. It's small, lightweight, inexpensive, and easy to throw in a laptop bag when I travel.I'm getting to the point where working from a laptop screen all day just isn't enjoyable anymore. This gives me an easy way to connect another monitor and enough USB ports for the peripherals I need without carrying around a bulky dock.At around $20, I think this is an excellent value. If you're looking for a compact travel hub and don't need a full docking station, I don't think there's much more you could ask for.Ver másVer menos
