Easily can carry 3 nights of clothing, electronics, toiletries and more - thin and comfortable
This backpack can easily handle 3 nights' worth of clothing, electronics, toiletries bags (plural) and a pair of shoes, all without growing beyond 6 to 7 inches in width. The photos show exactly what I packed.Planning an (imaginary) long weekend trip, I laid out the following: a black zip hoodie, a down vest, 3 pairs of medium weight pants, 3 undies, 3 pairs of socks, 1 bra, one knee length lightweight nightgown, 1 pair of slipper socks, 3 short-sleeve synthetic T-shirts/athletic shirts, and a rather large double-lined bathing suit as an afterthought. The big, bulky bathing suit is NOT shown in the photos. In addition, there are 3 medium-size toiletry kits (Biz class airplane cases, actually), and an oversize water bottle. There is an abundance of room for a laptop, cables, a tablet and cables (those could go in the front pockets or the back laptop slot), odd bits of this and that, the mini vac itself, and an extra pair of shoes.For reference, I am a size L/XL woman who doesn't wear petite clothing. For summer wear there would be an option to leave out the down vest (!) and bring a light sweater, a bucket hat, maybe a sundress or if you're a man, a sweater, windbreaker, whatever.Without the shoes, computer, cables, and tablet the packed width of this packed backpack was about 5.5 inches. See my photo with the red measurements, where there was so much empty space that at least one pair of shoes could fit. I estimate that the backpack would widen out to 6 or 6.5" at the max with all the afore-mentioned clothing, electronics, toiletry bags, etc . The backpack can go to a full 8 inches, so if you need to really stuff more inside, there are additional slots and pockets here and there.There is no expansion on this backpack (thank goodness, or I would have added even more compressed items, and the weight would've increased greatly). Also, there is no separate shoe compartment at the base, which for me is a plus - a shoe compartment lining adds more bulk to the backpack. I prefer to wrap my shoes in thin plastic bags to minimize weight and volume.This is an absolutely topnotch backpack if you want to be a minimalist packer but still don't want to sacrifice it all.Tips: pull the zipper between 2nd and 3rd fingers, like a T. If your backpack isn't inflating, make sure the zipper is pulled completely and totally all the way up (listen for hissing air, it means you haven't completely sealed it). To deflate, when you pull open the outer seal, there's a second, interior seal (orange) that needs to be pulled, also. There are a bunch of videos on the internet that can show you how to operate a vacuum seal backpack.It was fun preparing this review and challenging myself to see exactly what this well-made, comfortable, and well-designed backpack could do. Amazing Travel Bag Hack
I ordered this vacuum seal backpack for my son to use when traveling and we are very impressed by how much it helps maximize packing space without sacrificing what you want to take with you. The built-in vacuum compression system and included air pump make it easy to reduce the volume of what you packed, allowing you to fit more into a carry-on-sized backpack. This could be my newest favorite thing !
I should have had this years ago. I travel often and so estimes a normal backpack is not enough but a rolling suitcase, even a smaller one is too much. I have been using vacuum bags for storage at home and am amazed every time how much space is saved. I am a terrible over packing gal, and also size xl so my clothing takes space. I was able to pack for a three night four day trip in summer with this backpack. I used a different bag for my shoes. The pump is easy to use and worked fast to shrink the clothes down. I was able to put double what I expected. The backpack is comfortable and straps adjust fine for me and much taller husband. It is strong and I feel will last a long time. It makes travel so much easier to know I can get that last extra shift in my bag with no issue. It doesn’t look big but it holds so much. I’m happy with my choice and find the price fine for the versatility this backpack offers in how you pack your items. I might get one for my kids for holiday this year I like it so much. This vacuum sealable travel backpack is an incredibly innovative and handy companion, especially for short trips or for wheelchair users who need to keep their gear completely dry.
