Great productivity monitor (not for gamers)
I rated this with respect to general work productivity.I recently reviewed the S32H70, which is very similar to this model the S32H80 UA version. So the reviews will be similar, but I'll also point out the differences.adjustability: with the stock base, it can pivot left to right 45 degrees, rotate 92 degrees CW and CCW, tilt backwards 25 degrees and forward 3 degrees. You can slide the entire panel up and down ~5 inches. The H70 cannot adjust nearly this much. The monitor had a good smooth quality feel when making the above adjustments.perks vs the H70: this can also serve as a hub/semi docking station for a laptop. If you plug in a USB-C laptop without a LAN port to the monitor, and the monitor is connected to the LAN, the monitor will pass through the Network traffic to the laptop. Unfortunately it will only work at 10/100 speeds. 1000 would have been nice, but for most office work, it will suffice. The remaining USB ports can be hooked to mice, keyboards or other peripherals (again, like a hub), if the monitor is connected to the main pc/laptop via USB. The USB-C ports can also provide 15W charging power. If you don't need any of the above perks or adjustability features, you can save some money and pick up the S32H70 which apparently share the same panel. For the rest, I'll be brief. This is great for general computing tasks, but if you need a higher refresh rate and little ghosting (like for gaming) you may want to look elsewhere. This only does a 60Hz refresh rate.As far as usable area/real estate, It has 4x the area compared to a full HD monitor. 3840x2160 = 4 x 1920 x 1080. Of course the monitor is not 4x as large, so the equivalent font size will be a bit smaller. You'll find that magnifying the desktop to 150% may be more friendly on the eyes.Standard 4K can be displayed via either the HDMI or the DisplayPort connectors. However if you want to display 4K HDR, you need to use HDMI 2.0. This monitor supports DisplayPort 1.1 and 1.2 and HDMI 1.4 and 2.0. Only HDMI 2.0's bandwidth can reliably pass that 4K HDR signal. You can choose the version of the port specs you want to use on the monitor's menu. It is accessed via a joystick at the center bottom back of the monitor. Naturally, you also need a card that outputs 4K HDR. Setup is not that difficult when hooking to a PC, you just need to make sure you do your homework to make sure you have the right cables. One other thing about hooking to a USB-C port of a laptop and using that cable as a single wire connection: The manual seems to indicate you need to pick one of two options. High resolution (where you can get 4K (not sure about HDR)), but the USB speed is 2.0. Or you pick High speed, where you cannot output 4K, but USB works at 3.0 speeds. So the hub seems to be a little handicapped. The VA panel has decent contrast and the HDR adds some color pop. There is a bit of degree of banding. As noted above, for general office computing, this likely will never be noticed. Professional video/photo editors may need a fancier option than this one.One drawback (depending on seating position) is that the viewing angle is not as good as the viewing angles on IPS screens. If you sit dead on, like most would sit if they use this as a workstation, you'll never care.So to wrap up, this is basically a H70 with a hub add-on for some extra dollars. If you don't need the adjustability and hub features and can live with 60Hz, you'll find the H70 to be just fine. If the Hub features help manage your laptop peripherals and help keep your desk cleaned up, and the adjustability is needed, then the H80 may be worth a look (again remembering the 60Hz refresh rate).Ver másVer menos

Sharp Visuals and Seamless Docking
I added the Samsung ViewFinity S8 to my home office setup. After a lot of time using it for a mix of tasks like coding, photo/video editing, and general document management, it really is a reliable, dependable office centerpiece. If you are looking for a screen that prioritizes sharp, high density visuals and cable management, this monitor does a lot of things right. The 4K resolution is the best feature on this display. Text is incredibly crisp, which makes a huge difference when I am working with large code bases or spreadsheets for long stretches. The physical design of the monitor also impressed me. The stand is fully adjustable, allowing me to tilt, swivel, and change the height without any stiffness. It feels like a durable, well built piece of hardware that doesn't wobble, which is a big upgrade from my last monitor. The real upgrade on this monitor over previous monitor's I've used is the USB-C connectivity. Being able to power my laptop, transfer data, and connect to the local network with a single cable has completely cleaned up my desk. It doubles as a basic docking station, which saves me from having the massive rat's nest of cables.Although, if your computer requires a different connection method, or if you prefer to use HDMI or DisplayPort, you will lose some of that convenient dock functionality unless you connect an additional upstream cable. It is a small trade-off, but it is worth planning your cable management accordingly. There are no built-in speakers. It is a dedicated display, which is perfectly fine for my setup because I prefer beefier external speakers to handle both basic virtual meeting audio as well as high quality ambient music to accompany my work that is not well suited for built in speakers anyway. Being used to monitor control buttons along the edge of the back panel of a monitor, it stupefied me locating power button/joy-stick to directly turn on and manage monitor settings as it is under the center-bottom, a bit up from the bottom edge on the back between the panel and the stand keeping it from obvious view.If you need a high resolution display that doubles as a hub to keep your desk clutter free or simply want a high quality 4K monitor with all the latest input options, this is a very good value for the money. You are paying for a well engineered display that simplifies your peripheral setup and provides a large, sharp workspace. While it isn't an entry level purchase, the build quality and the sheer utility of the USB-C docking capability make it a very good investment for anyone who spends their day in front of a computer and values a tidy, effective, and reliable environment.

Really nice colors once set up properly
This monitor has been great for all kinds of productivity. I go between basic spreadsheet work to 3D modeling and CAD. I also do some photo editing for fun, as well as a little bit of graphics design. When I first turned it on, the colors looked pretty washed out and flat, so it wasn’t a great first impression, but I quickly realized it’s set to eco mode by default. To its credit, eco mode does make the screen easier on the eyes, but it dulls the picture quite a bit. There’s also a dedicated eye saver mode to help with eyestrain, but it fades the screen even more, so I don’t personally use it.After going into the settings and making some quick adjustments, things improved fast. There are a lot of options to tweak, from the usual brightness and contrast to things like shadow detail, gamma, and a contrast enhancer. One important thing if you’re running through HDMI is the Color Space setting. Lowering that helps with contrast too. After a few minutes of adjusting the picture mode and color settings, the monitor looked vibrant and the panel looked great.Something worth mentioning is that if you do color‑critical work, you’ll want to ditch the HDMI cable and pick up a DisplayPort cable or use the included USB‑C cable. Using HDMI limited me to 8‑bit color until I could pick up a DP cable. While it doesn’t include a DisplayPort cable, it does include a high‑speed USB‑C cable, which also supports 10‑bit color. The nice thing is it made connecting my MacBook really easy, since it also charges the laptop at the same time. That brings me to PIP, another feature that’s been really useful if you run dual sources like I do and want to keep an eye on one while doing actual work on the other. Also great for streaming shows from a media stick while working. The viewing angles are great too. My monitor is in portrait mode half the time, so having that IPS panel with its wide viewing angle is important to me. Colors look good and the image stays uniform from top to bottom. It’s a really great monitor once you take a little time to set it up properly. If I have one tiny nitpick, it’s the placement of the power and menu control button. It’s behind the panel right in the center, so when I have the monitor in landscape orientation, the stand gets in the way a bit. It’s just a minor inconvenience at most. Otherwise, I’m very happy with it. It’s a night and day difference for the work I do, coming from a VA panel I was stuck with.

High Utility/High Quality 32" 4K Monitor/Dock
Overall, this is a high quality monitor. Coming from an IPS monitor, I find the colors are only slightly washed out, no matter what settings I try. Comes close to how I like with Gamma set to its lowest settings.Display Quality:This is probably the first VA panel monitor I've used in over a decade. I'm a software engineer and I prefer the quality of an IPS panel to maximize my display real estate with good viewing angles and high color rendering/accuracy. I've used a 43" 4K LG monitor for the past 6 years.Going from a 43" to 32" monitor takes a little adjustment. Text and images are definitely a bit sharper with this 32" monitor due to the higher pixel density of the smaller 32" monitor with the same resolution as the 43". Also, at 74% of the width and height (and 55% of the display area), the 32" monitor requires less head movement, which is a plus. But I do have to sit a little closer to the 32" monitor, which is a slight negative. I'm still trying to sit 24" away from the screen, though.Adjustable Stand:The fully adjustable monitor stand is very useful. This 32" monitor has height, tilt and rotation. You can actually use this in portrait mode if that's what you want. Allowing for some much adjustment at this 32" size mitigates some of the viewing angle issues with a VA panel.Features:The monitor is primarily designed to connect to your computer via a single USB-C cable. Yes, you can choose to connect via the many other video ports on the monitor, which include both HDMI and DisplayPort. But the easiest and optimal way of connecting to this monitor is via the USB-C cable, which supports DP Alt Mode (DisplayPort Alternate Mode) and PD (Power Delivery). The USB-C cable that comes with the monitor is good enough to provide a full 90W of power to your computer and 10Gbps (1.25GBps) of data throughput, which is more than enough for most people. The 90W PD through the USB-C cable is a big upgrade for me. My 43" monitor only provided 65W of power.Dock:This monitor also serves as a dock through the same USB-C cable that powers your laptop. That means you can leave any peripherals like a Logitech Unifying dongle for wireless keyboard or mouse, webcams, etc. connected to the USB ports on your monitor. Simply connect the USB-C cable to your laptop and you're fully connected. No more fumbling with more than one cable to connect your laptop. Just a single, USB-C cable. Again... this is only possible if you're using the USB-C cable for connectivity. If you use the HDMI cable or DisplayPort cable and want to use the peripherals connected to your monitor, you'll also need to connect a separate USB cable between your computer and monitor in addition to the video cable. Hence, if your computer has a USB-C port that supports DP Alt Mode + PD, use it.Accessory Port:In addition, this monitor also provides convenient USB-C and USB-A connections at the front-bottom of the monitor to connect any impromptu device, which is super convenient. This will also connect to your connected computer. Although, I suspect the speed is going to be limited to USB3 throughput bandwidth. So if you have a Thunderbolt 4 or higher hard drive encloser, you might want to connect it directly to your computer. But for most everyday use, the front USB-C connection will be more than good enough. No Sound:Surprisingly, this monitor does not come with a built-in speaker. This is truly just a display. That's a little annoying since I'll have to rely on my laptop's speaker for sound during meetings. But definitely not a deal breaker.Summary:This is an excellent business monitor. The color isn't quite as good as a quality IPS panel. But it does everything else quite well. I have no problems using this as my daily monitor for multitasking with 4 full HD quadrants. Recommend.

This is by far the best computer monitor that I have ever owned. Superb picture quality.
At night before I go to bed, I usually watch movies on my laptop sitting on the nightstand next to my bed. The problem is that the laptop is several years old, only has a 13-inch screen, and the display is limited to regular HD. With so many movies and streaming services now offering 4K content, I finally decided it was time to buy a larger monitor that I could hook up to my laptop and actually enjoy the higher resolution. So, I feel very lucky that I was given the opportunity to review this 27-inch Samsung monitor.I have never had high-end electronics delivered to my house. I usually have them ordered to be picked up at a store because I always used to worry about something getting damaged. So I really appreciated the fact that this monitor arrived well protected with no chance of any damage being done to it.And let me tell you, after I connected it and started watching videos on it, I really feel like I have been missing out. It is by far the best quality I have ever seen on a computer screen. The picture is incredibly sharp and the colors look so rich. The screen shows fine details that I have never been able to see before on any laptop screen I have ever owned, including my brand new laptop which is an expensive model. And the size is perfect and there is no way I can ever go back to watching movies on my small laptop display ever again. The size and quality of this computer screen completely changes the experience. It feels like I have a small, high-end television sitting beside my bed.The stand is another feature I wasn't expecting to appreciate as much as I do. It is very easy and effortless to move it in several different directions, making it easy to get the screen at the perfect height and angle. So, if I am I'm sitting at my desk or lying in bed, I can easily adjust the screen.Just like any computer monitor screen, it was extremely easy to set it up and get it running. You pretty much just connect it via an HDMI cable or USB C to USB C cord (both of which are included). Both provide the same picture quality and refresh rate of 60hz. One advantage of hooking it up via USB-C is that you can now plug into the USB slots of the monitor (without having to plug the USB A to USB B upstream cable). And this frees up USB slots on your laptop or computer. So, for example, you can plug the receiver of a wireless keyboard into one of the USB slots on the monitor. Also, it will charge your laptop as well if your laptop charges via its USB C connection. However, if you connect it via the HDMI cord and still want to be able to plug into the USB slots on the monitor, then all you have to do is also connect the USB A to USB B upstream cable (which is also included). And that was pretty much it!! After you connect it, you can control the brightness setting just like you normally do from your computer. And it automatically shuts down, goes to sleep, and turns on directly through the control of your computer. The quality of this computer screen is exactly what I would expect from Samsung. The picture quality is sharp, clear, and impressive. $400 may sound expensive for a computer screen at first, but this isn't something you will be replacing anytime soon. Most videos are still produced in regular HD or 4K, and it will probably be a very long time before 8K content becomes common to the point where you would even think about upgrading again. I feel very lucky that I was given the opportunity to review this monitor, and it is something I will enjoy for many years to come. I hope my review showcased its true quality.

Great monitor
This is a large yet surprisingly lightweight 32-inch 4K UHD monitor that delivers an impressive combination of size, performance, and convenience. Setup was incredibly simple and required no tools. Following the instructions, I placed the monitor face-down on a sofa, attached the stand and base, and had everything assembled within minutes. The stand components are designed for easy installation, snapping securely into place, with a wingnut underneath that tightens the mounting screw firmly.Once assembled, the rest of the setup process was effortless. My laptop immediately recognized the monitor as a second display, and switching between extended and mirrored screen modes worked exactly as expected without any issues. The overall build quality is excellent and reflects the level of craftsmanship I would expect from Samsung. The monitor feels solid, well-designed, and premium.Image quality is one of the strongest features of this display. The 4K resolution produces sharp, detailed visuals, and the matte screen finish does a great job of reducing reflections and glare, making it comfortable to use in a variety of lighting conditions. While this model does not include built-in speakers, it offers an excellent selection of connectivity options. One particularly useful feature is the built-in Ethernet port, which can function as a docking solution. If your laptop does not have an Ethernet connection, you can simply connect it to the monitor using the included USB cable and access wired networking through the monitor. It also includes additional USB Type-A ports, and with a keyboard and mouse connected, you can take advantage of KVM functionality to switch between two connected devices. The only minor drawback is the included power cable. The right-angle connector is designed to route neatly through the center of the stand for improved cable management, but the five-foot length leaves limited flexibility once the cable is routed. An extra couple of feet would have been appreciated at this price point. However, since it uses a standard AC power cable, replacing it with a longer version is simple if needed. With its large 32-inch display, this monitor can also serve as a small entertainment screen. Pairing it with a streaming stick or media box would make it a versatile option for both productivity and casual viewing.Overall, this is a high-quality 4K monitor with excellent image clarity, strong connectivity options, and a premium design. It is a great choice for anyone looking for a large, versatile display for work, entertainment, or a home office setup.
