This was such a fun and heartfelt read. I laughed and cried more times than I expected. Isabel’s writing feels so genuine and relatable, and it was easy to connect with both the people and the dogs throughout the book.As someone who loves to rescue animals, I really enjoyed the foster stories and the emotions that come with opening your heart to animals in need. Her writing is warm, honest, and engaging, and I was invested from beginning to end. Beautiful and Honest Book
Curled up on my bed, wearing my “Be Brave Like Tiki” T-shirt with my own dog beside me, I finished *Dog Boys and Other Things I’ve Cried About* by Isabell Klee with tears of happiness in my eyes.Klee invites readers into her life through the lens that matters most to her: love. Love for her family, the men who shaped her life, and of course the dogs who have always been at the center of it all. Her writing is deeply personal and emotionally honest. The way she shares her feelings allows the reader to experience them almost viscerally, as if we are walking alongside her through the moments that shaped her.One of the most compelling parts of the memoir is the journey that leads her to her constant loves, Simon and Jacob. As someone who follows Isabell on Instagram, I already knew the ending of this love story. But knowing the outcome did not make the journey any less meaningful. In fact, it made the unfolding of it even more special. Watching two people do the work to grow, learn, and ultimately build the relationship they have today was genuinely beautiful.Klee writes with tenderness, vulnerability, and humor, creating a story that feels both intimate and relatable. This memoir is about love in all its forms, the messy and emotional moments that shape us, and the quiet ways dogs often anchor our lives through it all.I wholeheartedly recommend this thoughtful, tender, and honest book.Ver másVer menos

I came for the dogs and stayed for the eloquence
I knew of Isabel from social media and may not have bought the book otherwise. She has a beautiful way with words and I absolutely love her advocacy for dogs. The book is full of life lessons and emotion. The choppy timeline is odd and confusing at times but it’s not completely detrimental. I selfishly wish there were even more stories about the foster pups but I’m glad to have supported this beautiful human being.Ver másVer menos

Fantastic
Isabel knocked it out of the park (the dog park? lol) with her memoir. Truly such an enjoyable read- I smiled, cried, and laughed. She does a fantastic job of showing us behind the scenes of fostering, insight into the complex emotional rollercoaster of the highs and lows that come with it. Her writing and her story stand on their own, what shocked me most was the lack of any real mention of her social media following. She has over a million followers on TikTok alone yet she reads like a relatable friend and you’re so invested in her story. As a fellow 30 something that also grew up in NJ, but was never brave enough to move to NY, I couldn’t love her book any more. Long before Tiki was brave, Isabel was brave. Looking forward to any future books she writes. 10/10Ver másVer menos

A behind the scenes look at SimonSits - highly recommended.
Without sounding *too* much like a stalker, we've been following Isabel's @Simonsits account on Instagram for several years now where her insights into fostering have been very touching and you can't help rooting for the dogs to thrive. Most of the foster dogs are also followed, because everyone needs a good pup story in their Instagram feed at least once a day.A quick read, this autobiography gives a little more information on what was going on behind the scenes. A very honest and frank story about, you guessed it, Dogs and boys and living in New York. Even though I was already familiar with some of the characters it was great to find out a little more back story and be reminded of some of the events and characters that she has shared over the years. Dealing with love, emotions, the cutest of dogs (how does she not keep them all) their mix of stories are spread through the book. The highs and the lows are honestly documented in an emotional read and followers will feel like they are following along with Isabel's life. No spoiler, but Jacob is totally a keeper!The only thing I would have liked to have seen is a link to the social media pages of the dogs so readers can follow along in the life stories of these larger than life main characters in the book although you can always follow SimonSits and keep up to date that way.Speaking of Simon - he is such a good foster dog for the other pupsVer másVer menos

Fabulous read!
Sat down to read a few pages and ended up reading the whole book. Wonderful story - light hearted and fun with a balance of deeper, thought provoking topics. Beautifully written and easy to connect with, especially if you’re an animal lover. Highly recommend!
