Clean Skin Without the Tight, Stripped Feeling
I fully expected this cleanser to be too much for my skin. I’m 52, post-menopausal, and have dry, mature skin, so I tend to be cautious with foaming cleansers. Many leave my face feeling stripped and reaching for moisturizer immediately. This one surprised me.The texture is a rich cream that transforms into a dense, cushiony foam with water. It feels more substantial than many foaming cleansers I’ve tried, and a little goes a long way. It removes sunscreen, excess oil, and the day’s buildup easily, leaving my skin feeling clean without that squeaky-clean feeling that usually signals trouble for me.The ingredient list is interesting. In addition to matcha leaf extract and matcha seed oil, it contains rice ferment, inulin, licorice-derived ingredients, seaweed extract, and humectants that help offset some of the cleansing action. There is fragrance and citrus oils in the formula, which may be a consideration for very sensitive skin, but personally I like the scent.I really like the balance. It gives me the deeper cleanse I sometimes want without making my skin feel dehydrated afterward. That said, I don’t use it every day. For my skin type, I prefer rotating it with gentler cleansers. Used a few times a week, it fits nicely into my routine and leaves my skin looking fresh and feeling smooth.I think this would be an excellent choice for normal, combination, oily, or acne-prone skin types, especially anyone who enjoys a richer foam cleanser and wants a thorough cleanse. If you wear a lot of sunscreen, live in a humid climate, or simply prefer your skin to feel very clean after washing, you’ll probably enjoy this.Those with extremely sensitive skin, fragrance sensitivities, rosacea-prone skin, or a compromised skin barrier may want to look closely at the ingredient list first due to the fragrance and citrus essential oils. Very dry skin types may also prefer not to use it twice daily.For me, this ended up being one of those products that performed better than expected. I was worried it would be too harsh, but instead it struck a nice balance between cleansing power and comfort.
