Scintillating Cymbals – Upfront Vocals with Discernible Lyrics – Outstanding Value – Works with LDAC
The Back Bay Audio FirstClass 50 earbuds are an outstanding value. Cymbals scintillate as the metal made accents that they are, and they do not have the steam-like sound one would get from lesser buds. Vocals are upfront and I am hearing lyrics that were previously undecipherable. The FirstClass 50 earbuds feature a Bass Boost mode and they need it. Applying the Bass Boost rounds out the sound to where it should be and I wouldn’t operate these without the boost on.The buds state that they are tuned in Boston. I also own the Back Bay Audio Runner 40 and can say that the signature sound is a bright upper end for this brand.The earbuds here connect easily to my LG TV 77” C4 and the Lip Synch is on point as it is when it connects to the Apple 4K streaming device. They play nicely with the Samsung S23 5G. All three devices stay connected up to 25 feet away with a wall or two between.Earbuds don’t perform well and especially so for bass without proper positioning. Back Bay evidently realizes this as they include 5 pairs of shaped silicone sheet tips. I wish the tips were of the better fitting memory foam type, but that is my wish for all earbuds. Still, the silicone tips provided allow for good positioning that is not affected by any jaw movements.I was pleasantly surprised to find that the earbuds can use the superior and high-quality sound of Bluetooth LDAC codec. My Samsung S23 easily made the connection by going to Settings>Connections>Bluetooth and choosing the gear icon next to the Back Bay FirstClass 50, and then simply turning on the LDAC switch. The operating distance from the phone was not diminished when streaming Bluetooth in LDAC despite the required extra bandwidth.They worked for four straight hours in one test and the battery did well.The person with whom you are connected on a phone call will not notice that you are speaking through earbuds. There is no phase distortion or swirling, just your voice nice and clear. They may hear wind noise if you are outdoors.Noise cancelling works just OK when you are at the gym or in a noisy environment trying to listen to your tunes or podcast. Some noise gets through the silicone tips when the ANC is on. Transparency mode is neat when you don’t feel like removing a bud to hear someone.Bottom line, these are an outstanding value and worth every star of this 5-star review.Ver másVer menos

Generally happy but initial problem with Pairing to other devices
I normally use buds to listen to TV, Podcasts, and music. I paired these to my Fire Tablet initially - no problem. I then tried to pair to my phone and/or desk top computer. I could not get them to pair to my phone until I turned off bluetooth on my tablet and desktop. Then I was able to pair to my phone. To reconnect back to my tablet, I had to unpair my phone. Simply disconnecting from the phone was not enough. On the other hand, I could disconnect from tablet and the buds paired and connected back to the phone. This was my only problem.I also have JBL Vibe Beam and JBLTune230NC. I found that these Back Bay Buds have the same range distance as my JBL buds.The nice feature with these buds is that when turning Auto Noise Cancelling on or off, the buds tell you what they did. The same is true in turning on or off the bass. Volume taps - Right for up and left for down are easy to use. Voice assistant works. I don't use voice assistant but it does work. Pause and play works but there is a slight delay. I think with practice it will be easy to use.I don't use buds to answer or make phone calls. I can not address how well they work and sound on a phone call.The playtime is 4+ hrs with ANC off and just a tad less than 4 hrs with ANC on. The ear buds annouce when the power is low. I think you may have 5 to 10 minutes of play time before they shut down. It takes less than 1 hr to fully recharge them. The case has a LED on the front that blink green indicating charge. The LED is solid green when case and buds are both fully charged.I do want to say that the User Guide should be read and used as a reference until you are familiar with these Back Bay buds.I have found that the fit to my ears are the most comfortable buds I've tried. I highly recommend these Back Bay buds. I had to use them for awhile to get use to how they worked. I do like them.Ver másVer menos

Strong ANC performance and LDAC included
The FirstClass 50 (FC50 hereon) is my first exposure to Back Bay Audio’s products and I’m impressed. The ANC is quite good but falls just short of the Soundcore Space 40 which itself ranks as one of my best ANC TWS and right up there with the Bose QC2 TWS. The key frequencies the FC50 struggles a little with is the upper-mids/lower-treble (which is quite common for most ANC); while testing it on the subway platform, the sound of the wheels roaring on the tracks are more pronounced vs. the two aforementioned ANC leaders. One thing I’m glad it doesn’t feature is auto-tuning of the ANC; the ANC strength stays consistent regardless of the frequencies being canceled. This is in contrast with the SoundPeats Air 4 Pro’s ANC which does a poor job at times; specifically, when riding the bus going over bumps, the clatter of the metal panels creates higher pitched noises which would occasionally cause the Air 4 Pro fits with the ANC but the FC50 handles this with aplomb.The FC50 also features a transparency mode but I find it to be rather meh. It’s perhaps good for letting in environmental sounds but I don’t find it loud enough to hold a proper conversation (YMMV), hence deducting a star for that.In terms of the sound quality, this has a darker, almost a U-shaped signature. I find the mids to be a bit recessed while the bass and treble are fine. For bass heads, there’s also a “Boosted Bass” mode that’s invoked by tapping the right bud three times but it doesn’t just boost the Bass but the Treble somewhat as well and I do feel it’s a bit strong (I’m not a basshead) so I don’t really use this mode.There are touch controls invoked via the thin shiny part of each TWS. I like that it’s not too wide as it reduces the chances of accidentally invoking the touch feature when adjusting each bud.Aside from the included cable, there are also 6 different sized tips which should accommodate all but the most extreme ear anatomies. It should go without saying by now that a perfect fit is critical to get the best ANC; it came pre-installed with the medium tips, I went one size up which improved the ANC for me. The battery life is as advertised, I got a little over 5 hrs but the case didn’t seem like it held four more charges (I’ll have to do additional testing to confirm).The overall quality is quite good but the finish is that satin-like plastic which based on experience usually becomes a sticky mess over time but that should take a few years so not an immediate concern. The other downside to this finish is that it’s a fingerprint/grease magnet.One thing I discovered in the manual and which wasn’t advertised on the product page is that the FC50 also supports the LDAC codec which should delight audiophiles (check pic). I personally don’t have a huge collection of lossless files so I won’t be using this much but it’s nice to know that it’s included (how does the saying go? “It’s better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it”).

Fantastic
I have a plethora of these type of earbuds of various different sizes and forms, and I have to say that these are probably my favorite of everyone I have. The size is just right, and the earplugs fit nice and snug without any sort of discomfort. The sound overall is fantastic for the price. They are easy to charge via USB port to the portable case which also acts a charger when they buds are stowed away within. These are easy to pair via USB to a smart phone, computer, etc that supports blutooth audio and they offer a great function by touching the touch sensitive sides of each of the earbuds. The sound spectrum sounds fairly well balanced, but might have a slight dip in the mids from what I can tell. The transparency mode is OK but it's probably not the best for getting an open air sense of your surroundings. The longevity of the battery seems to be on par with the claims, though I have only tried to use them for that long once, but I really didn't get them to drain before I stopped using them. I always just put them back in the case and they seem to be charged and ready by the time I use them again.I feel like I need to give away my other brands as I'm not using them anymore because of this set getting all the attention.I like the build quality of this, how they fit and the comfort... I especially like the sound quality. While they might not be as good as my professional in ear monitors for studio audio, they certainly are great for on the go and listening to music and phone calls. They do great in phone calls. Overall, I am thrilled to have these, and for the price I am sure it will satisfy most who these.Ver másVer menos

Good fit and sound, quick connection, good battery life
What I love about Back Bay is the fit. I have small ear canals, I think, and these fit easily, don't fall out when doing yoga. With other earbuds they seem to fall out because my small ear canals just squeeze them back out, or start to ache after a while. I do not have these issues at all with these.With this particular pair, I appreciated the feedback when tapping either earbud; I had another pair of Back Bay and I didn't always know if I was getting through when turning up or down the volume. With this pair there is a little tap sound every time I touch them.It is very clear between noise canceling on, noise canceling off, and transparency modes. The noise canceling is surprisingly good - I could only hear a few noises from my husband's video games when I wasn't playing anything, and not at all when playing things. With noise canceling off there is still a bit of muddling, but transparency does allow much more noise to filter through if wanting to eavesdrop on your kids!The earbud setup was quick and easy with my phone, but another bright spot is that they also reconnect very quickly. Other pairs take a few seconds and these seem to be within the amount of time it takes just to take them from the charging box to your ears.The battery life on the charging case seems pretty solid so far; I'm currently on day 3 without charging the case, although I don't use the ear buds but for a few hours each day.Ver másVer menos

Great earbuds
I picked these up for my son. The noise cancellation feature works really well. My son likes to listen to music when he studies. He can stay focused when he doesn’t hear everyone’s conversation. They have great sound as well.
