Latest 5th Gen Tandem QD-OLED panel at a price that's hard to beat
I was lucky enough to get one of these before they quickly went out of stock. Coming from an old 100Hz VA ultrawide the differences are massive. HDR is amazing and almost blindingly bright in games. With the latest QD-OLED panel text looks clearer than ever and the colors and contrast are truly amazing.The OLED care features have been drastically improved and is nearly a non issue without any inconvenience. By default every setting comes disabled except pixel orbiting set to Slow and your warranty will be in full effect. I initially thought the pixel refresh cycle wasn't working properly since everywhere I read it's supposed to alert you at 4 hours and becomes mandatory at 16. This new panel being less susceptible to burn in has increased the warning to 16 hours screen time and mandatory only after 24 making it a non issue for most users.Speaking of warranties AOC "Re-Spawned" the warranty for their AGON PRO line to 4 years which also includes a one time ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE replacement within the first year. What a great perk! Compare that to what's on the market most others are 3 years and I've never even heard of an accidental damage warranty being included with a monitor. AOC win.If you compare this with the competition from ASUS and MSI, you get the same latest QD-OLED panel and specs at a fraction of the cost. The AOC even features full UHBR20 bandwidth on the display port like the ASUS which is higher than the MSI's UHBR13. The ASUS model is almost $500 more than this for some AI features and ROG branding. No thanks, keep it.Some cons:- HDR Peak mode (full 1300 nits) causes noticeable dimming on lighter full screen images and games (Flight Simulator 24, Crimson Desert, etc.) making it dimmer than the TrueBlack500 mode at times and too jarring to use. This may be an OLED thing but seems it could be handled better and maybe improved in a firmware update. MSI allows a custom curve which would be nice but as of now I'll just refrain from using it unless playing a darker game. I'm new to OLED so it may be par for the course but I don't like it one bit. Makes peak brightness seem like a gimic and really what's important is full screen brightness which is also improved on these newer gen panels.- No included USB Upstream cable (Type A to Type B) to enable the USB side ports and/or app control of the UI. Luckily I had one from my old monitor but really thought it would be included. Did come with USB C to C, HDMI 2.1 and DP80 cable though.- USB C power delivery is low at 15W (not an issue for me as I'm not using the Type C but could be for some).- Sticky film that comes on the screen got stuck in the lower bezel of the monitor and left little glue balls in some areas. Difficult to clean without touching the screen. Do better AOC please. I read about this very same issue on their previous 175Hz version and it's still valid.All in all very happy with this monitor and finally able to join team OLED. For the price I don't think it can be beat. Still no reviews out there for this model but when they come I think it holds it's own against the competition. Did I mention it comes with a calibration report? And you can use G-Menu software to control the OSD with your mouse.Ver másVer menos
