Good Starter Kit on Paper, But the Broken Backup Battery Makes It Useless

Item Reviewed: Home Security Systems Alarm System for Home Security GSM/4G+WiFi | 4.3" Touch Screen | SOS | App Instant Alerts | Wireless Smart System | DIY Motion & Door Sensors | Work with Alexa | No Monthly Feeℹ️ SummaryI was excited to get this eight-piece starter kit for around $70 at time of order because it included a nice variety of accessories: one door/window sensor, one motion sensor, two RFID tags, two keychain remotes, a wired siren, and the PG-107 control panel. Everything came pre-paired and worked right out of the box, and pairing the panel to the SmartLife app was quick and easy. Since I'm already invested in the SmartLife ecosystem, that was a huge plus. Alarm notifications also seemed to come through quickly.Unfortunately, the biggest feature of a security system is reliability, and this one failed in a major way. The listing specifically advertises a built-in backup battery, yet my panel shuts off instantly the moment it's unplugged. I even disconnected and reconnected the battery and let it charge overnight. Same result. A security system that can be disabled simply by unplugging it defeats the entire purpose of having one. Worth noting - the battery itself has voltage and the panels’ battery connector also shows voltage, but the panel still shuts off imeddiate when it’s unplugged. That tells me the issue is not just a dead battery. The backup battery circuit does not actually power the panel.There are also several missing features that make this feel unfinished. There's no door chime when sensors open, no real volume adjustment beyond loud or off, and no way to rename sensors on the panel itself. You can name them in SmartLife, but the panel still only displays zone numbers. The interface also feels overly simplified and lacking in features.One thing worth noting is that while the panel works with SmartLife, the accessories pair directly to the panel using generic 433MHz sensors. You can't use regular Tuya sensors that pair directly through the SmartLife app.I originally planned on buying additional sensors and expanding this system, but after testing it, I no longer have any interest in investing in this ecosystem and cannot recommend it.✅ What I Like- Siren is incredibly loud.- Uses the SmartLife app, which integrates nicely with my existing setup.- Accessories came pre-paired and worked right out of the box.- Alarm notifications are fairly timely.❌ What Could be Better- Backup battery doesn't work.- No door chime for sensors opening and closing.- No real volume adjustment.- Sensor names don't display on the panel.- Interface is too basic and lacks important features.Final Verdict | ⭐️☆☆☆☆The non-functional backup battery is a fatal flaw for a home security system because it can be disabled simply by unplugging it.
