Cheaper headset with a really good quality
I usually rely on steel series headsets but this one really did meet the requirements I desire never really seen this brand around before but seen a lot of really good reviews. A lot of good video reviews had them for about a month and a half now and can say I do fully enjoy them and see how good the quality is. Anyone who’s a headphone snob that just wants to get something temporarily until they get their next new headset this is definitely a good choice.Ver másVer menos

These will work on anything
This is a vine review of a free productSo these headphones are pretty comfortable. These are not light but not heavy for me. My head is towards the large size, but there was plenty of room left in the adjustment after I had it dialed in. You could ware these for hours. I did not have hot ear issues, but then again I never do. Not sure how these will work on small heads.The sound isolation of the padding is medium. It will cut most high frequency noise of low intensity.The jack is 3.5mm. This is not a USB set. It will work on anything, not just the Xbox. I plugged this in to the PC to test the microphone more and they behaved like any other headphones. I thought the Mic mute function (raise boom to mute) was software related but it is a hardware switch built in to the set. There is fairly positive indent to overcome to engage the mute function so it is hard to miss. Still some kind of indication, somewhere, would have been nice for troubleshooting purposes (if the switch breaks, peace of mind, etc).Obviously no compatibility complaints.The sensitivity of the microphone is towards the low end. That is my impression. There were no issues that I could tell though, I did not have problems with being heard. But that could also be a function of how loud you are.There is a switch on the wire for controlling the volume (not the mic). My impression is that it goes from 0 to 100 from end to end. Having this is useful when dealing with hot mics. The throw is short though, so you need to pay attention. You don't want to start low and go high, as this could blow your ears.There is one downside. Because of how the mute switch is designed, the mic boom can only be on the left side. The cable is on the left as well. With my setup the cable runs across to the right which is not ideal and can be irritating.The sound quality is fairly good. Voices are clear. Listening to music there is good base from what I can tell. These are not music headphones but they are not bad. There is clarity at least. Response seems normal. These were primarily used on games though. I use speakers for music. These are a big upgrade over my previous old gaming headset that fell apart.These are not a good alternative for a conferencing headset. Great Xbox headset with clear sound and a convenient flip to mute mic

Great headset
I have found this headset to be quite nice indeed, in fact it surprised us with how good the sound quality actually was. The court is long enough that we didn't have to worry about it getting caught on anything. The headpiece and head piece are both comfortable enough to wear for extended. Time. It was very easy to connect Windows salt right away and then you were using it right away so it is extremely easy to use as well. Overall I think it's a good value, but definitely try to get on sale so it becomes a great value.Ver másVer menos

Solid headset but mic monitoring left a lot to be desired
Pretty torn on how to feel about this headset. Coming from a wireless headset, I was interested in trying out a wired one to not always have to worry about running out of battery in the middle of gaming or streaming, but after trying the R5 Spear for a few days, I hate to say that I don't necessarily think it's for me.On the one hand, the price was great and it was exactly as described. It's a solid headset overall. Very comfy to wear, crisp and clear sound, and I like the design/styling of the headset. Much better looking headset than some stuff out there in my opinion. The changeable ear cup plates is a pretty cool touch as well, and the headset even looks pretty cool without them.On the other hand, the mic monitoring left a lot to be desired, at least in my opinion. I found it lacking quite a bit compared to my usual headset, the HyperX CloudX Flight 2 wireless headset. Granted I'm not an audio buff and know little to nothing about different headset tech, but coming from the HyperX headset where the mic monitoring is much louder, I felt like I couldn't quite get comfortable talking with this headset on. Even with the mic monitoring setting maxed out on my Xbox, mic monitoring was just too quiet to hear myself properly, leading to heared my muffled voice through the headset more than the mic monitoring, and struggling to judge how quiet or loud I was speaking. It would get slightly better if I had the mic right up against my mouth, but obviously that's just not feasible.If the mic monitoring was a bit louder, I'd probably give this headset 4 or 5 stars, but as it stands, it just feels like it missed the mark a bit because of the mic monitoring. That said, mic monitoring preference is probably a pretty subjective thing from person to person, so I can't quite say I wouldn't recommend the R5 Spear. Just be wary if, like me, you prefer mic monitoring to be on the louder side.Ver másVer menos

Solid headset with great sound
My son has used RIG headphones for a couple of years, but this is his first wired model. I got the RIG R5 Spear PRO HX Wired Gaming Headset as a backup in case his current pair stops working. The headset is compatible with Xbox and PC, though we’ve only tested it on PC. It feels sturdy and well-made, and I think it will last through daily use. After about three weeks of heavy use—he’s online a lot, maybe too much—they’re still holding up great.He’s used to wireless headsets, so he doesn’t love being wired to his PC. He likes to move around while gaming and chatting with friends, and sometimes forgets he’s plugged in and has to sit back down. But that’s not the headphones’ fault—they’re clearly sold as wired.My son says the sound quality is great, just like he expects from RIG. The volume control is on the aux cable, and it’s touch-sensitive and works well. The headphones are light and comfortable, which is important since he’s picky about earpieces. These are well-cushioned and adjustable. Both the headband and ear cushions have memory foam, making them even more comfortable. The headphones come with magnetic Snap+Lock Mod Plates that click securely into place. Additional mod plates are available and sold separately.Overall, I'm glad my son likes this headset. It’s a quality product with good sound. He still prefers wireless, but this is a solid backup. Good headphones can be pricey, so these are a great deal for under $70.
